Report: Shannon Sharpe will not return to ESPN after settling lawsuit
According to Andrew Marchand of TheAthletic.com, ESPN has cut ties with Sharpe after the Hall of Famer settled a lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault.
The settlement was announced by the accuser's attorney, Tony Buzbee, earlier in July.
Sharpe had strongly denied the allegations and stepped away from his role at ESPN, where he was featured on First Take. While he had previously vowed to return, that now will not be the case.
Sharpe had not been on ESPN since April.

Anthony Hernandez not stressing over UFC title shot: 'It will all work out soon'
Anthony Hernandez hasn't lost a fight in half a decade, but he's yet to fight for a UFC championship. Hernandez (14-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) is on quite the streak, picking up seven consecutive wins at 185 pounds with three Performance of the Night bonuses. "Fluffy" returns this Saturday as he headlines UFC on ESPN 72 (ESPN, ESPN+) against fellow contender Roman Dolidze (15-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC). Many wonder how many more wins Hernandez will need to earn his shot at the title, but Hernandez is not sweating it. "I've been getting tagged in stuff like, 'You're the dark horse,'" Hernandez told MMA Junkie on Monday. "A lot of people have been pissed that I'm at the Apex like, 'No, f*ck that. I wanted to go see him,' which is a f*cking blessing because now the fans are starting to get behind me. The true people that know martial arts, they know that I know my sh*t, so whatever, it will all work out soon." Should he get past Dolidze, Hernandez believes a title shot could come at any moment. "I'm ready for whatever," Hernandez said. "This game is crazy, and you never know what to expect in this f*cking world. Someone can get hurt, and you can get called tomorrow. F*ck, who knows?" Hernandez expects an exciting fight this Saturday. He believes Dolidze is the right dance partner to put on a show. "I watched his tape, and I've watched him fight a few times, too," Hernandez said. The biggest question hovering over the Buffalo Bills as they take part in training camp in preparation for the upcoming 2025 NFL season is the contract status of James Cook. Cook has been holding out of practice recently as he hopes for an extension from the franchise, one that the Bills have thus far been reluctant to provide. Recently, former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky provided a ringing endorsement of Cook's value to the Bills during an appearance on NFL Live. 'James Cook is the second-most important player on this offense,' claimed Orlovsky, per NFL on ESPN on X, formerly Twitter. Number one in that department would of course be quarterback Josh Allen, who won the league MVP award for his efforts during this past 2024-25 season. While Allen may be the engine that makes the Bills' offense go, Cook is certainly a key cog in the machine, establishing himself as one of the league's best and most versatile running backs over the last few years. A murky situation for the Bills Bills fans would certainly prefer their team get something worked out with James Cook sooner rather than later. Cook put his value on full display during the AFC Championship Game last year vs the Kansas City Chiefs, when he scored on a fourth and goal in the second half to help keep Buffalo attached. Unfortunately, the Bills still weren't able to get past the Chiefs-sized roadblock, ultimately losing that game in heartbreaking fashion down the stretch of the fourth quarter and pushing their playoff record vs Kansas City to 0-4 in the Josh Allen-Patrick Mahomes era. This offseason, the Bills have made strides to address some of their shortcomings, including adding veteran star pass rusher Joey Bosa to their defensive line. If Bosa can stay somewhat healthy, he may end up being one of the biggest steals of this past free agency period. In any case, the Bills are slated to kick off their 2025 season at home against the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of last year's AFC divisional round game on September 7 in prime time.
