Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu will miss the rest of the season after having surgery on his right knee.The 26-year-old has made only one appearance this season, as a substitute in a Premier League win over Southampton in October, because of the issue.He initially sustained the injury in pre-season and had a surgical procedure in August, but required further surgery after problems with the knee persisted.The Japan international has started his rehabilitation programme, which Arsenal said is expected to last until towards the end of this year."It has been the toughest period in my career for sure and it carries on a bit more but I won't give up," Tomiyasu posted on Instagram."Thank you for your support and see you soon at the stadium."Mikel Arteta's side have suffered several key injuries this season, with forwards Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus ruled out for the rest of the campaign, while wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli - and right-back Ben White - are also injured.The Gunners are second in the Premier League, seven points behind leaders Liverpool, and next host West Ham at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Liam Delap backed to break curse of the Chelsea No 9 shirt and earn England spot
Enzo Maresca has backed Liam Delap to handle the pressure of leading the line for Chelsea and is adamant that the striker will become England's next No 9. Delap is eager to make a strong first impression following his £30m move from Ipswich Town and will hope to make his Chelsea debut when the Premier League side open their Club World Cup campaign by facing Major League Soccer's Los Angeles FC in Atlanta on Monday. The 22-year-old, who was unable to keep Ipswich in the top flight despite scoring 12 goals last season, is competing with Nicolas Jackson for a starting spot in attack and does not seem overawed by his new surroundings. It is encouraging that Delap has paid little attention to claims of a curse befalling Chelsea's No 9 shirt, which has been vacant since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club two years ago. 'The message is always the same – you arrive, you work hard, you work more than the other No 9,' the Italian said. 'The conversation with Liam has been quite clear. He was keen to join us because he knows the way we play. We won for the first time for City the Under-23 competition – he scored 24, 25 goals that season. 'He knows exactly what we can give him, to him and I know what Liam can give us. The conversation was quite easy. We like Liam, Liam like us. I don't have any doubt that he can be in the future England No 9.' Maresca said that Chelsea intend to sign another winger after sending Jadon Sancho back to Manchester United. Osimhen talks opened Victor Osimhen looks set to leave Napoli this summer and Footmercato are reporting that United have resumed talks with the striker after he turned down a move to Al-Hilal. The report states that Galatasaray remain hopeful that they can convince Osimhen to join permanently after he scored 37 goals in 41 games during a loan spell last season, but United could now hijack the move. Amorim is keen to add more firepower to his squad after Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee disappointed last season, with the pair managing just 17 goals in a combined 105 appearances across all competitions. Leverkusen eye Man Utd target United have been linked with a move for Manchester City youngster James McAtee, but Bayer Leverkusen have now emerged as a potential destination for the midfielder. According to Sky Germany, McAtee has been identified as an option to replace Florian Wirtz as he is on the verge of joining Liverpool.
