Colts add rookie RB to replace Salvon Ahmed, who was injured by illegal hip-drop tackle
Ahmed suffered a severe ankle injury last week after being taken down by a hip-drop tackle from undrafted free agent safety Trey Washington as he headed to the end zone. A return this season is highly unlikely, but a source said Ahmed will be healthy again in 2026.
Indianapolis had initially signed Ahmed last season as insurance when Jonathan Taylor suffered a high ankle sprain, and he'd been with the roster ever since.
'Heartbroken. Angry. Sad,' Ahmed wrote on his Instagram account last week. 'I'm going through so many emotions. I went through so much just to get back on the field, and it's cut short at the blink of an eye again. I do know my GOD is the same in the valley as he is in the mountain top. It all happens for a reason and at some point it will all be clear to me. Thank you GOD in advance for whatever you have planned for me.'
Noel, an undrafted free agent out of Missouri, was waived by the Dolphins shortly after the start of training camp.
Undersized at 5-8 and 194 pounds, Noel spent his first four seasons at Appalachian State and rushed for 3,074 yards before transferring to the Tigers for his final year of college eligibility. Used as the team's primary running back, Noel rushed for 818 yards and three touchdowns with Missouri last season, but he went undrafted in April.

Dallas Cowboys Star Laughs Off Viral Preseason Mishap
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. On Saturday night, the Dallas Cowboys began their preseason slate against the LA Rams. Though he didn't suit up for the matchup, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb still managed to be a major talking point of the evening. Lamb has been one of the main standouts for the Cowboys in training camp, which means he'll likely see minimal time on the field in preseason. Dallas doesn't want to risk losing such a vital piece to injury when he already appears ready for the 2025 campaign. While in street clothes on the sidelines, Lamb was in attendance to cheer on his teammates who were getting reps against the Rams Saturday. He ended up getting too swept up in the action, leading to him having his own viral moment. More Photo by/Getty Images Lamb was very engaged on the sidelines Saturday, cheering on the offense as they battled against LA. On one play, he can be seen getting amped up after Jonathan Mingo was able to beat his defender downfield on the outside. Lamb turned his back before the play ended, which ended up being his downfall. An official was making his way down the sidelines and was too focused on the play to see Lamb in front of him. This led to them having a big collision that took the official off his feet. Hardest hit that Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb took tonight was on the sidelines …. and from an official. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 10, 2025 Right after the incident, Lamb can be seen throwing his hands up and laughing at what had just transpired. It didn't end there, as he re-posted the clip on his Instagram story for all to enjoy his mishap. Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb laughed about his run-in with an NFL official in an update on his Instagram story — RJ Ochoa (@rjochoa) August 10, 2025 Unfortunately for the Cowboys, they were unable to kick off the preseason in the win column. The Rams managed to take care of business and walk out with a 31-21 victory. Also read: NFL Analyst Defends Disgruntled Cowboys Star in Fiery Rant Although he racked up his fourth straight 1,000-yard season, Lamb's production still took a slight step back last season. This largely stems from the fact that Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending injury midway through the year. With the star QB healthy again, Lamb has an opportunity to get back on track in 2025. The star wideout targets might go down slightly this season due to the addition of George Pickens. That said, with another dynamic receiver for defenses to worry about, Lamb should still be one of the league's top players at the position. 'Rampage' Jackson reacts to Elijah Smith recreating iconic slam KO at UFC on ESPN 72
Quinton Jackson was, like many, in awe of Elijah Smith's incredible slam knockout at UFC on ESPN 72. Smith (9-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC)) delivered arguably the greatest slam finish in UFC history Saturday when he attempted to put Toshiomi Kazama (11-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) through the mat in the opening round of their bantamweight bout at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The way Smith hoisted Kazama out of a triangle choke position and into the air, put his arm across the face then slammed him into the mat before landing a couple vicious and unnecessary shots looked eerily similar to a famous finish from former UFC light heavyweight champion "Rampage" Jackson. Jackson produced arguably the most famous slam finish in MMA history under the now-defunct PRIDE FC banner in June 2004. A nearly identical sequence occurred in his "Critical Countdown 2004" matchup with Ricardo Arona in a highlight that has been played endlessly since. Many have tried to mimic "Rampage" throughout the years, but nothing has came as close as what Smith pulled off, and the man himself could only give praise to what the 22-year-old prospect pulled off (via Instagram): The respect between Jackson and Smith was mutual in the aftermath of his knockout win. Smith said he watched the Arona win many times over the years, and tipped his cap to the UFC legend after the viral result.
