YSRCP organises rallies to mark 'Betrayal Day', protests against CM Chandrababu Naidu
East Godavari (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 4 (ANI): YSR Congress Party, led by YS Jaganmohan Reddy, organised a rally in Rajamahendravaram Rural, East Godavari, on the occasion of 'Betrayal Day', to mark the first anniversary of the TDP-led government.
YSRCP East Godavari District President and Former Minister Chelluboyina Venugopala Krishna led the rally. Following the rally, the former minister submitted a representation to the District Collector.
A large number of party leaders, workers, and supporters actively participated in the rally, which was organised to protest against the N Chandrababu Naidu government.
YSRCP shared posts on X, showing visuals from protests marking 'Betrayal Day' held in multiple locations. The rally in Rajampet was led by Meda Raghunath Reddy. MPs Mithun Reddy and Maddila Gurumoorthy participated in the rally in Sarvepalli constituency, and Chandragiri constituency in-charge Chevireddy Mohith Reddy organised a huge rally in Chandragiri constituency.
According to an X post by YSRCP, after the rally, MP Gurumoorthy said that the coalition government came to power by making false promises to the people, and it is ridiculous for the coalition leaders to say that today is a festival day for the people. The MP said that people think that this is not a government that celebrates festivals, but a government of pure violence. He said that the false promises given by the coalition will burn the coalition government like fire in the coming days. He warned that YSRCP workers and leaders are being harassed with illegal cases to divert people's attention from election promises, and there is no point in being afraid of such wildfires. He said on this occasion that more such protest programs will be organised against the failures of the government in the future.
Sharing a video on '1 year of CBN Back Stabbing', YSRCP wrote on X, 'Super-6 turned out to be a golden duck. AP people won't forget this betrayal.'
Meanwhile, Naidu-led TDP is celebrating the day as 'Praja Teerpu Dinam' (People's Victory Day). (ANI)

'There is immense public and political interest regarding the timing of the election. As I've said before, it will be held between December and June. The government is working to ensure an environment conducive to a credible election within this timeframe.' Yunus said. The announcement comes amid recent protests by the former premier Khaleda Zia's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) demanding elections by December this year. 'Our goal is to prevent future crises. That requires institutional reform. Without ensuring good governance in the institutions directly linked to the electoral process, all the sacrifices made by students and citizens will be in vain,' the 84-year-old said, while reiterating that the interim administration was formed with three mandates: reform, justice, and election. 'We believe that by the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, we will reach a broadly acceptable position on reforms and justice — particularly in addressing crimes against humanity, as part of our collective duty to the martyrs of the July uprising,' the Nobel laureate said. Earlier, on May 28, the BNP organized a massive rally as tens of thousands of youths staged protests demanding the Yunus-led interim government to hold national elections by December this year. 'The national election must be held by December. Preparations must begin immediately,' BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman said as he joined the rally through a virtual platform from London. Sheikh Hasina, Awami League unlikely to participate in polls Meanwhile, deposed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Awami League party, that formerly ruled Bangladesh, is unlikely to be allowed to participate in the April 2026 national elections as the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government last month ordered the disbanding of the party until the trials of its leaders were completed. On August 5 2024, the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League regime was ousted from power after mass student protests led by the Students against Discrimination (SAD). Three days later, an Interim Government came to power in Dhaka with Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus at his helm as Chief Advisor. On June 1 this month, the International Crimes Tribunal Bangladesh (ICT-BD) indicted Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, on a host of serious charges, including mass murder, for allegedly violating human rights during the brutal crackdown on student-led protest that ultimately led to her ouster in August last year. Millions lifted out of poverty According to the World Bank's Spring 2025 Poverty and Equity Brief, India's extreme poverty has plummeted to 5.3% in 2022–23, down from 27.1% in 2011–12. That translates to over 269 million people moving out of poverty, with 172 million of them crossing the international $2.15/day poverty line. Economic growth, expanded access to electricity, sanitation, housing and targeted welfare programs all contributed to this decline, making it one of the most major poverty reduction achievements globally in recent decades. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Financial inclusion as a catalyst for grassroots growth By extending access to affordable financial services, India has taken decisive steps toward bridging its credit and development gap. Financial inclusion empowers people, especially in rural areas with access to savings, credit, insurance and pensions. This not only encourages entrepreneurship among women and small businesses but also strengthens inclusive economic growth by spreading the benefits to the lowest-income groups. Empowerment beyond welfare: A shift in economic agency The decade under PM Modi has not only seen the distribution of benefits but a strategic pivot towards empowering people as economic actors. Women who once collected firewood now use clean fuel and send their children to school. Families that once lacked formal housing now own a pucca home. People once outside the banking net now participate in the digital economy. 1 2 Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and former irrigation minister T Harish Rao alleged that chief minister A Revanth Reddy and minister Uttam Kumar Reddy had failed to protect Telangana's water interests while favouring the Andhra Pradesh govt. He criticised irrigation minister Uttam Kumar Reddy for allegedly misleading the public on key irrigation projects and cooperating with the TDP govt in Andhra Pradesh, thereby compromising the interests of Telangana. "Why did the Telangana cabinet not discuss the Godavari-Banakacherla link scheme on Thursday? Was there any issue more important than that? Though the AP govt was going ahead with the project without any approvals, the Telangana govt, on the other hand, is making no effort to halt it," Harish Rao said while addressing the media at Dubbak on Friday. Harish Rao vowed that BRS would take the fight to New Delhi and even approach the Supreme Court to protect the water rights if the state govt continued to neglect the issue. "Even in temporary allocations of Krishna waters, Telangana utilised 65 TMC less water than its share, leaving 6.5 lakh acres parched in Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and other districts. Why did the state govt remain silent while Andhra Pradesh allegedly diverted 400 TMC of Godavari water illegally," the former minister questioned. He also criticised the BJP leaders from Telangana for not raising their voices against the AP's 'water theft' and reiterated that the BRS would approach the Supreme Court if the state govt failed to act. Harish Rao alsodismissed chief minister A Revanth Reddy's claim that Kaleshwaram was collapsing, arguing that key projects such as Gandhamalla, Mallannasagar, and Ranganayak Sagar depend on it. He challenged the chief minister to explain how water would reach Gandhamalla if Kaleshwaram were truly defunct.
