The Boston Celtics should not trade away point guard Derrick White
The Boston Celtics should not trade away point guard Derrick White, but his game and contract are so valuable, an offer might come along the Celtics would seriously need to consider. The challenge for the Celtics front office is one that needs to balance the importance of what the University of Colorado alum brings to a team when they are trying to contend for titles again with the value and savings moving off his deal might bring the team.
The dual conundrums of an unprecedented payroll and tax bill coming due for Boston in the same season they will need to play for all or most of the regular season without star forward Jayson Tatum (due to an Achilles injury) makes for a tough set of problems for the team's front office to solve.
The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk it over. Check it out below!

Boston Celtics jersey history No. 20 - Dan Dickau (2005-06)

Boston Celtics jersey history No. 20 - Dan Dickau (2005-06) The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover. And for today's article, we will continue with the 26th of 31 people to wear the No. 20 jersey, Boston guard alum Dan Dickau. After ending his college career at Gonzaga, Dickau was picked up with the 28th overall selection of the 2002 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings. The Portland, Oregon native would play parts of the first two seasons of his pro career with the Atlanta Hawks after a draft night deal. He would also have stints with the Portland Trail Blazers, Dallas Mavericks, and (then) New Orleans Hornets (now, Pelicans) before he was dealt to Boston in 2005. His stay with the team would span just 19 games, coming to an end when he dealt back to Portland in 2006. During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Dickau wore only jersey No. 20 and put up 3.3 points and 2.1 assists per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.

What are some trades the Boston Celtics can make to get under the luxury tax?

What are some trades the Boston Celtics can make to get under the luxury tax? What are some trades the Boston Celtics can make to get under the luxury tax this season? Which players might the Celtics consider moving on from in such a scenario? Does it make sense to deal away oft-injured big man Kristaps Porzingis, or veteran guard Jrue Holiday to get Boston under the dreaded second apron? What about younger players like guard Derrick White or forward Sam Hauser? How should the trades address the financial crunch of an unprecedented payroll and tax bill while also keeping enough talent on the roster to compete in the future when star forward Jayson Tatum returns from an injured Achilles tendon? To get an answer to all of these questions (and some examples of trade proposals that might be able to do all of the above), cap expert Yossi Gozlan recently weighed in on what Boston is likely trying to do this offseason in a recent episode of his "Third Apron Salarycast" show.
