‘Wednesday' Dethroned In Netflix's Top 10 List By A New Show

Forbes7 hours ago
While this was inevitable, I will say I was a bit surprised to see it happen this quickly. It seemed like megahit Wednesday could have easily stayed on top of Netflix's Top 10 list for the gap between season 2 part 1 and season 2 part 2, but that is not the case. Not even two weeks after the show came out, it's been knocked down off #1.
Technically, this is by two shows, but the first is WWE Monday Night RAW, which does big numbers every Monday. Netflix held it off the previous Monday, but now it's here at #1. However, Wednesday was also beaten out by Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser, a new reality series focused on the infamous weight loss show.
The documentary is a three-party offering that at 124 minutes, is essentially a two hour movie, which covers a number of contestants on the show, medical professionals commenting on the whole thing and the grand finale about the show shutting down, and how many people gained back all the weight once the rapid weight-loss series ended, despite so many apparent success stories. In an age when shows like 1000-Pound Sisters or My-800 Pound Life are routinely popular, I'm not all that surprised that this has done well so far. The question is whether or not Wednesday will be able to come back and unseat it.
Wednesday will return on September 3 for Part 2 of Season 2, and the marketing machine has already been ramping up for that launch between new red (black) carpet events and trailers centered on the surprise reveal of the return of Gwendoline Christie's Principal Weems, which, I suppose, is no longer really a surprise at all. The idea is that she will return to be Wednesday's spirit guide in the latter half of the season. As ever, the idea of splitting these show releases in half remains tiresome. Either do a binge release or release them week-to-week like everybody else. These breaks are the worst of both worlds!
Of note on the rest of the list, a number of former #1s are holding rock solid, all right in a row: The Hunting Wives, Sullivan's Crossing and Untamed at numbers four through six. Untamed has gotten a second season already, despite it being a miniseries, Sullivan's Crossing was already getting another season before it hit it big on Netflix and The Hunting Wives? It's only a matter of time given how it's performed.

Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis Set as Netflix's Next Big Livestream Boxing Match

It's official: Netflix's next big live boxing match will feature Jake Paul taking on reigning WBA world champ Gervonta Davis in a showdown in Atlanta. Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix announced the matchup Wednesday. Jake 'El Gallo de Dorado' Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) will fight undefeated three-division champion Gervonta 'Tank' Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) — billed as 'the modern-day Mike Tyson,' who has knocked out 28 of his 31 opponents to date. Can't Answer Its Title Question: TV Review The fight is set for Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, and will stream live globally exclusively on Netflix at no additional cost to subscribers. Additional information, including the co-main event and undercards, will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets for the event are slated to go on sale next month via Ticketmaster. Paul, the online influencer turned pro boxer, will return to Netflix following his record-breaking fight against Mike Tyson in November 2024, which drew an estimated average minute audience (AMA) of 108 million live viewers globally — making it the most-streamed sporting event to date, according to Netflix. 'Jake vs. Tank' marks MVP's third live event on Netflix in 12 months, following Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 in July 2025, the first all-women's professional sporting event on the service. The Paul-Davis fight is 'the culmination of four years of callouts and a brewing rivalry' between the two boxers, according to MVP. Both have 'battled to claim the title of modern boxing's biggest star, setting the stage for this monumental showdown.' Paul, in a statement provided by Netflix and MVP, said: 'Gervonta is an angry little elf who has been disrespecting my name for too long. His nickname might be Tank, but I'm an FPV drone and I'm about to disable his ass. Yes, he is one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds. And I like my odds. First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath, and you are all going watch me do it, breaking viewership records again. Atlanta. Friday, Nov. 14th. The worst night of Gervonta's career, live only on Netflix.' MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said, 'Jake Paul and Tank Davis have redefined the professional combat sports landscape as the top fighters among Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences. Now they will collide to determine the true face of boxing's next generation.' 'This isn't just a fight, it's a spectacle that brings together two of the most electrifying figures in boxing today,' said Brandon Riegg, Netflix's VP of nonfiction series and sports. 'We're building on our momentum with live sports and giving our members exactly what they want: a massive, can't-miss event with global appeal.' Ahead of the Paul-Davis fight, Netflix on will livestream the Sept. 13 super middleweight bout between Canelo Álvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) in partnership with Zuffa Boxing. ‘South Park' mocks Trump's DC takeover in upcoming episode

An upcoming episode of 'South Park' is set to make fun of President Trump's efforts to crack down on crime in Washington, D.C. A teaser for the Wednesday evening episode, released on social media and YouTube, shows the iconic character 'Towlie' arriving in Washington, D.C. As 'Towlie' gets off a bus arriving in the district, a tank rolls by in front of the White House while the character says, 'This seems like the perfect place for a towel.' Trump has sparked widespread backlash with his takeover of the local police force and mobilization of National Guard troops to help fight crime in D.C. 'South Park' has used the first several episodes of its new season to mock Trump and his allies, poking fun at the administration's deportation efforts as well as controversy relating to the Jeffery Epstein files. The show has targeted media conglomerate Paramount, the parent company of Comedy Central which earlier this year awarded the show's creators a new lucrative contract for rights to broadcast the animated satire program.
