Cat Deeley revealed she didn't want to renew wedding vows before Patrick Kielty split
ITV presenter Cat Deeley had insisted she wouldn't renew her wedding vows with Patrick Kielty years before their shock split was announced. The TV duo revealed their marriage of 13 years is over in a statement on Tuesday.
Despite the surprising news, Cat had previously said she had no intention to having a second wedding with her Northern Irish husband. Instead, she explained how for preparation to her big day she "barely even did my own wedding".
Cat and Patrick tied the knot in 2012 in an intimate ceremony in Italy on September 29. She had previously been married to PR businessman Mark Whelan from 2001 until 2006.
And speaking to Closer she revealed her thoughts. She explained how she didn't have much input into her second big day. Instead, she admitted she left the planning solely in Patrick's hands. She trusted him so much that she had never even seen her wedding venue, St Isidore's College in Rome, prior to her wedding ceremony.
She added after being asked about potential renewing of vows: "I don't care, as long as everybody was there and had a good time – it doesn't bother me.
"Plus, I'm quite lucky I get to dress up and have really special occasions all the time, so to me that wasn't the most exciting thing to happen."
The couple initially met while hosting BBC 's Fame Academy together in 2002. However, at the time they were both in relationships. They only made their first public appearance as a couple nine years later in 2011 before tying the knot a year later. They share two children together.
Announcing their split, their joint statement read: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved.
'We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment."
It's unclear exactly when the couple split, but they had been spending time apart due to conflicting schedules in Ireland and London. The last time Cat referenced Patrick on her Instagram account came in October 2023 a month after their last public appearance.
They had also seemed to be enjoying time together during a trip to Saint Tropez last summer. At one point during the day out at the beach in France, Cat looked loved up as the pair soaked up the sun and stood in the sea. The couple seemingly couldn't keep their hands off each other at the time, with the Irish comedian wrapping his hands around his wife's waist.
However, in March this year, Cat missed husband Patrick's mum's funeral in Northern Ireland. At the time, a spokesperson told the Mirror that Cat had remained at home to care for their young sons Milo and James. They said: "Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day."

Great British Sewing Bee viewers issue same complaint as they spot huge format flaw
Great British Sewing Bee viewers issue same complaint as they spot huge format flaw Tuesday's episode of The Great British Sewing Bee was centred around Korean garments. The Great British Sewing Bee viewers issued the same complaint as they spotted a huge format flaw. During Tuesday's (August 5) episode of the hit BBC reality show, judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant set the contestants three challenges that celebrated the rich fashion and textile traditions of Korea. They were also joined by award-winning designer Eudon Choi, who helped them examine each Korean-inspired item. For the pattern challenge, the sewers had to create a jeogori - a historic Korean jacket that's now seen in contemporary womenswear and K-Pop. The contestants then had to transform taekwondo outfits and colourful belts into striking new creations, with Kit coming in first place. Tuesday's episode was inspired by Korean fashion (Image: BBC) In the made-to-measure challenge, the sewers were tasked with designing evening wear inspired by a garment once worn by Korean military officials. Born in the 900s during the Goryeo dynasty, the cheollik started as a military coat built for movement and authority with a flat collar, pleats and ties. Over centuries, it's evolved from rugged menswear into elegant womenswear. The contestants were given five hours for the project, after being able to practice their items at home. After failing to impress the judges with her creations, Novello was eliminated from the competition, while Caz received the garment of the week. 66-year-old sewer Novello was eliminated (Image: BBC) "It's okay, I expected it," Novello said after her exit. "Sewing has always been in my life, and this experience has blown it out of the water, really. It's just something that I will remember and treasure always." However, after watching the episode, many of the show's viewers shared their frustration at the lack of time the sewers get during each challenge. Article continues below "I know it's a competition, but can't they give them a little more time? It's nicer to judge finished garments," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Another added: "I know they have to weed out the worst sewers, but give them a bit more time," while a third said: "They defo need more time." The Great British Sewing Bee is available to stream on BBC iPlayer

BBC Radio legend exposes huge music icon as the most 'unpleasant' celeb she's ever interviewed
Radio legend Jo Whiley said the star left her feeling "so tiny and so stupid" during their interview. BBC Radio One legend Jo Whiley has revealed the name of the rudest famous person she's ever interviewed in a jaw dropping confession. The 60-year-old veteran broadcaster interviewed countless stars during her time as a radio DJ. However, speaking to fellow presenter, Zoe Ball, on their Dig it podcast recently, Jo admitted there was one celebrity who shattered her confidence during an interview which left her feeling "stupid". When asked by Zoe if she had ever felt starstruck during an interview, Jo recalled an interview with one of the world's biggest rappers but it was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Jo told Zoe she was left feeling "so tiny" after interviewing hip hop legend Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, the Mirror reports. She explained: "I remember interviewing Eminem and Dr Dre one time and that was horrible. "I'd interviewed Eminem when he was very young and he was very shy and polite. He kept calling me "ma'am" all the time and he was really, really sweet and humble. "Then a couple of years later he came back on the show but with Dr Dre and the fame had happened and he was just this other creature altogether. "They were just so playful with me - and can I just say they made me feel so tiny and so stupid." It comes as the radio DJ insisted she is not slowing down any time soon after turning 60 last month and saying that she doesn't think milestone birthdays are a "big deal". The mum-of-five said that the interview with Eminem was overall "a really unpleasant experience" as she and Zoe chatted about being starstruck by the rich and famous. Her admission comes after the broadcaster opened up about how she had been struck down by anxiety at the height of her DJing career in the 90s. She told Woman's Health: "I remember doing one gig and I was just so scared, I thought I can't go on like this. This is ridiculous. "It's ruining my life because I'm just such a ball of anxiety. "But then I realised how happy it was making people when I do these gigs and that was a game changer." Jo, is still one of the most sought after DJs in the industry and insisted her 60th birthday, which she celebrated last month, is just the same as any other. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! She told Woman and Home: 'Another birthday really isn't a big deal for me because I don't see age as important. "It's something that you very much don't want to be a thing, but it becomes a thing because everybody focuses on it and asks you about it constantly. "It's a bizarre situation to be in because I'm only another year older than I was last year, and a year younger than I will be next year. There's an obsession with reaching certain milestones due to your age. People focus on it too much."

ITV are said to have been keen on signing him for some time - and bosses think they have found the ideal vehicle. A huge hit in Norway, The Box sees a dozen celebrities placed in separate boxes, each with a daring challenge to complete. It has been described as a cross between I'm A Celebrity and SAS: Who Dares Wins. A source told The Sun: 'The Box is massive in Norway, and the rights were quickly sold to Denmark and now the UK. They have long been sniffing around Gary and just needed to find the right format for him. Source "ITV are really excited about it - and believe they have finally found a worthy successor to Saturday Night Takeaway. 'They have long been sniffing around Gary and just needed to find the right format for him. 'They're confident they've found that now, and the BBC's loss is their gain.' A TV insider said: 'The scheduling hasn't yet been confirmed but filming takes place in the autumn, and the series is due to air early spring. 'It looks likely to get a Saturday night slot though, but obviously it's all still to play for.' Gary Lineker tears up as he bids emotional farewell to iconic Match of the Day after controversial BBC axe Ant and Dec's long-running show ended in April last year - and ITV have struggled to replace it. Lineker had been a fixture on BBC Saturday night screens for 26 years as host of Match of the Day. For the past eight years, he has been the BBC's highest paid broadcaster. Last month he still topped its annual pay league, earning £1.35million. He was due to quit the BBC after next summer's World Cup but was forced out in May after sharing a controversial post about Zionism on Instagram. 5 The new show is touted as the successor to Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway Credit: Rex 5 Lineker was a fixture on BBC Saturday night screens for 26 years Credit: BBC The dad of four — who had previously faced a string of controversies at the BBC — apologised but accepted his position was 'untenable'. The former Leicester, Everton and Barcelona striker won 80 caps for England. He then moved full-time into broadcasting after his retirement in 1994. His new show The Box has been watched by more than a million people in Norway — a fifth of the population.
