Ozzy Osbourne's heartbreaking final texts to sister revealed days before death
The Black Sabbath frontman – real name John Osbourne – died on July 22 at the age of 76, with his family sharing a statement confirming the news.
His death came just weeks after he appeared on stage for the final time, during the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham.
Speaking about her loss, Jean Osbourne reflected on seeing his last performance earlier this month, and his desire to return to their hometown again.
'He was frail but it still came as a shock,' his sibling said in a new interview. 'He still had plans and things he wanted to do. We don't know the details of his death, it's still too early. It's just so sad.'
Ozzy delighted fans when he appeared on a throne on stage at the Back to the Beginning event, and performed a short solo for the crowd.
'It's so good to be on this stage. You have no idea,' he said, thanking those who had gathered at the stadium 'from the bottom of [his] heart.
'You have no idea how I feel.'
Recalling their final day together, she continued to the Mirror: 'We had an executive box in the stadium, and when I saw the sea of people waiting to see our John, I just broke down.

'We didn't really get a chance to chat much because it was such a chaotic visit. But in his last text to me he said he would be coming to Birmingham again.
'He said 'I can't wait to come back. We were hoping to see him this week.''
Ozzy, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2019, grew up in Birmingham and was one of six siblings – alongside Jean, Gillian, Paul, Iris and Tony.
His eldest sister explained that the rocker messaged them while travelling to the concert, as he was 'blown away' by the crowds walking down the street where they used to live, on their journey to Aston Villa's stadium.
'Of the six siblings there's only three of us left now – me, Gillian and our brother Paul,' she added. 'We just can't believe he is gone and we won't be getting another phone call or text from him.
'Every week without fail he would get in touch, either by phone or text, to ask how we were all doing and what was going on.'

His family, including wife Sharon Osbourne, confirmed the news in a heartfelt statement yesterday, which read: 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
'He was with his family and surrounded by love.
'We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.'

Ozzy Osbourne's daughter Kelly has paid brilliantly unique tribute to her father after he was laid to rest on Thursday. The legendary heavy metal rocker, who died aged 76 on July 22, was buried by the lake in the grounds of his Buckinghamshire mansion following a private church service. This followed a huge public outpouring of love and mourning from the crowd of thousands that gathered in Ozzy's home city of Birmingham for an emotional funeral procession through its streets the previous day, just weeks after his final ever show there, at Villa Park. Marking one of her first social posts since her beloved dad's funeral and death – and since his Back to the Beginning last gig, where Kelly's fiancé Sid Wilson proposed – Kelly returned to Instagram late on Friday night. She shared a single image to her Stories with no additional comment, but the picture spoke for itself. Reality show star Kelly, 40, had photographed a picture of a purple funeral wreath for Ozzy, by the lake, which simply – and appropriately – read: 'Ozzy F***ing Osbourne'. It stood proud among the rolling grassy grounds by the peaceful-looking lake, reflected in its waters. According to The Sun, 110 of the Black Sabbath star's closest friends and family travelled to join his wife Sharon, 72, and children Kelly, Jack, 39, Aimee, 41, and Louis, 50 – Ozzy's son from his first marriage to Thelma Riley – at the private service. These included Ozzy's bandmates, Metallica's James Hetfield, Sir Elton John and singer Yungblud. Other stars pictured making their way into the venue included Marilyn Manson, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor and Zakk Wylde, who was photographed clutching two guitars. Devastated fans have also left flowers, signs, cards and gifts outside the property in tribute. An insider previously told the outlet of the plans: 'Sharon and the family want to celebrate Ozzy's life with his fans, with plans for the cortege to travel through Birmingham.' The procession made its way down Birmingham's Broad Street in the city centre and across Black Sabbath Bridge on the canal, named after the rockers and a bench featuring the band's four founding members – Ozzy, Terry 'Geezer' Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward. It was here the family was shown adding their own flowers to those left by fans, enormously touched by the outpouring and struggling with their grief, with X Factor judge Sharon in tears. The moving funeral service beforehand, on Wednesday, saw 110 of Ozzy's loved ones join his wife Sharon and his children Jack, 39, Kelly, 40, Aimee, 41, and Louis, 50, who is Ozzy's son from his first marriage to Thelma Riley. Kelly has now posted online for the first time since her father's send-off, sharing a picture of a wreath reading 'Ozzy F***ing Osbourne' placed by the bank of the water. She put no text or caption on the photo, instead leaving it as is. The 76-year-old, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder, in 2019, died on Tuesday, July 22 surrounded by his close family, as they released a statement confirming the singer had passed. Before his death, Kelly had honoured her dad in a string of emotional posts. In one video, the singer could be seen sitting around the kitchen table with family just two days before he passed away. In another, she shared the lyrics to Changes - the Black Sabbath track that she and Ozzy, who had also battled with chronic nerve pain in the last years of his life, famously re-recorded together in 2003. Thousands of fans also paid tribute at Ozzy's funeral procession through Birmingham on Wednesday. In recent years, Ozzy had spoken openly about his desire to return to the UK, saying he was "desperate to come home." Sharon, wearing Ozzy's ring on a chain around her neck, walked behind his cortege alongside family including Kelly, who wore round sunglasses in a subtle nod to her dad's infamous look. The hearse carrying his coffin began its route at his former childhood home in Aston, before making its way to the city centre. The procession made a stop at the Black Sabbath Bench and bridge, where fans gathered in the area to pay their final respects.
