EastEnders confirms Oscar Branning's sexuality as fans rave about newcomer

Metro3 days ago
This article contains spoilers for Tuesday's first episode of EastEnders, which airs tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One or can be streamed now on iPlayer.
EastEnders has confirmed Oscar Branning's (Pierre Moullier) sexuality during a conversation with his uncle Jack (Scott Maslen).
The newcomer burst onto our screens yesterday, having been released from a three-month stretch in a young offenders for joyriding.
His sister Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) begrudgingly took him in, less than enthused by the fact that Oscar's associates tried to petrol bomb their mum Tanya's (Jo Joyner) house upon realising he'd tipped off the police about their actions.
He also became reacquainted with Ian and Peter Beale (Adam Woodyatt and Thomas Law), whom he hadn't seen since his childhood. From the moment Oscar laid his eyes on Peter, he became an unstoppable force of flirtation.
From nicknaming him 'Hot Pete' to promising not to watch him in the shower, exclaiming 'smash' as soon as he saw him, and telling Lauren that he wouldn't sleep with her fiancé, Lauren's little brother instantly made quite the impression.
Then, in tonight's episode, he woke up naked on the sofa and invited Peter to join him.
Utterly outrageous, but the fans are totally here for it.

'I think he's going to bring trouble to Lauren's door but he was pretty amusing – made a change from all the doom and gloom,' said Metro reader Nikki on Facebook.
'Finally we had a bit of a giggle watching!' added Sarah.
Donald agreed: 'At last, some relief from the misery.'
Later, Oscar sat down with Jack, who was hoping he would calm his chaotic ways after noticing him flirting with Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) in the cafe.
'I didn't think she was your type… she's a girl, isn't she?' probed Jack.
It was then that Oscar confirmed he 'swings both ways, innit.' He had a girlfriend before his time in youth offenders, but decided he was more attracted to her dad.

And – echoing the opinion of viewers across the land – his uncle replied: 'You're a chip off the old block, ain't ya.' More Trending
Of course, as fans know so well, Oscar's dad, Max Branning (Jake Wood), is quite the womaniser, and pretty much slept his way through Albert Square during his initial 15-year stint.
'When does a young gay (/bi?) character ever turn up happy with their sexuality right out of the gate?' wrote Jack on X.
Mark agreed, writing: 'Exactly – I loved the way he immediately started on the flirting with Peter, they should keep that as a running gag. The stuff with Ian was really funny too.'

Sally and Tim break big news about Lou to shocked Brody in Coronation Street

With her attack on Gary Windass (Mikey North) having been exposed, Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) is currently in prison in Coronation Street. Her husband Mick (Joe Layton) recently tried to escape from jail himself, where he's awaiting trial for killing PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith). His plan was to gather his kids and Lou together and they would flee abroad as a family and go on the run. This didn't work out, with the result that Mick is back behind bars and Lou was deemed to be a flight risk and has also been remanded in custody. Meanwhile, Sally and Tim Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) have been taking care of the Michaelis's two daughters Shanice (Molly Kilduff) and Joanie (Savanna Pennington). They've offered to have Brody (Ryan Mulvey) stay with them, too, but initially he preferred to sleep in his own house, determined to prove his independence. In upcoming episodes Sally takes Shanice and Joanie to visit Lou in prison, but Brody refuses to go. During the visit Lou tells Sally she's planning to plead not guilty, and will need money to cover her legal fees for her defence. She asks Sally to help her out by taking out a bank loan. Whether Sally would have been prepared to do this or not, it's not long before she gets a phone call at home from social services. Lou has, in fact, pleaded guilty. Sally and Tim break the news to Brody that, having pleaded guilty, Lou is looking at a long prison sentence. Her dearest wish is for her son to come and visit her. Will he do as she asks? Brody has had a lot to deal with over the past few months. Not long out of a secure training centre himself, he was quickly in trouble for various petty crimes as soon as he arrived back in Weatherfield. More Trending Then his world was rocked when he found out that Mick wasn't his biological father, and his dad was really police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). When Mick broke out of prison he ended up stabbing Kit and leaving him seriously wounded. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Fans living for 'unhinged' new Netflix movie starring Idris Elba as a dog

The first trailer for a raunchy new cartoon comedy, boasting a hugely A-list cast, has finally dropped. Following the huge success of animated film KPop Demon Hunter, Fixed will be released on Netflix on August 13, and is the latest offering from director Genndy Tartakovsky, known for his work on Dexter's Laboratory, Primal and the Powerpuff Girls. It follows Pitch Perfect star Adam DeVine as Bull, a dog who realizes that he's just hours away from being neutered and rounds up his closest friends to enjoy one final day of wild freedom. Idris Elba, Kathryn Hahn, Fred Armisen Michelle Buteau and Bobby Moynihan also make up the star-studded voice cast. The teaser begins with the pooch humping his 'nanna', leading to his family taking him to the vet to get the problem fixed. His pal, Rocco (Idris) doesn't take this lying down, telling him: 'We're going to go out there and suck every bit of fun out of those balls before you lose them.' This leads to the pups going 'dog wild' on one crazy night, including stops at a doggy strip club and a close encounter with a squirrel. Fans couldn't get enough of the trailer and flocked to social media to unpack the bizarre scenes, branding Fixed both 'hilarious' and 'unhinged'. Heading to the comments below the trailer on YouTube, Jayden3639 said: 'This will probably be one of the most unhinged movies of the year.' 'I've been waiting a year for this trailer, it's worth it,' Thiagoguerrero7707 cheered. Nabeelmirza221 quipped: 'This has entered into the list of 'Wtf did I just watch'. Looks hilarious though.' JavierAndrade96 joked: 'I've always wondered what an r-rated Lady and the Tramp would be like!' As added: 'This looks way more unhinged than Strays from 2 years ago.' Fixed has been in the works for over a decade – the movie was produced by Sony Pictures Animation and Genndy initially signed on to direct but it faced a string issues and delays behind the scenes. 'Bull is every man, he is lovable, funny, witty, and confident,' the filmmaker told Tudum about his new project. 'Then at the same time, he is also nervous, shy, neurotic, and anxious. A complete human, as a dog. 'His journey is quite simple. He believes that his powers come from his dangly bits, but he learns that it is what is inside that is important. 'Some of the material is a bit raunchy so we had to find people that were receptive to our sense of humor, and boy, did we.' More Trending The official synopsis reads: 'From visionary director Genndy Tartakovsky comes Fixed, an adult animated comedy about Bull, an average, all-around good dog who discovers he's going to be neutered in the morning! 'As the gravity of this life-altering event sets in, Bull realizes he needs one last adventure with his pack of best friends as these are the last 24 hours with his balls! What could go wrong…?' Real reason behind Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna's epic fallout revealed as explosive new book lifts lid on actress's life

Gwyneth's ex Chris Martin has strong opinions on Madonna, according to the book NOT MAD ON HER Real reason behind Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna's epic fallout revealed as explosive new book lifts lid on actress's life Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Practically joined at the hip during the Nineties, Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna were once the closest BFFs in Hollywood. Now an explosive new book has claimed to have uncovered the reason why the pair had an epic fallout — with the outspoken singer shouldering the blame. Author Amy Odell writes: 'Madonna insisted Gwyneth and Martin join her for a big group dinner at a long table where Madonna went off on her daughter, Lourdes. 'Gwyneth and Martin were disgusted by the behaviour.' According to Gwyneth: The Biography, Coldplay frontman Chris branded Madonna 'awful' and told his wife: 'I can't be around this woman any more.' Those close to Gwyneth said she distanced herself from the Queen of Pop — and neither women have been photographed together since. The apparent fallout between the A-listers became part of showbiz legend in the years that followed. 'I can ice people out and harbour revenge' Before the alleged holiday row, the close pals had attended Kabbalah classes together and told how they supported each other. In 2006, Gwyneth, said of Madonna: 'Everything I have gone through, she went through ten times worse and ten times longer. 'She gives me good advice about how to say no and take care of myself.' Gwyneth Paltrow 'mocks Meghan AGAIN' in Instagram cooking video as 'war to be US lifestyle queen' rages on They then became increasingly distant in the years that followed, with Gwyneth, 52, seemingly excluding Madonna, 66, from her inner circle and spending more time with other stars including Beyonce and Jay-Z. In a 2010 interview with Vogue, Gwyneth all but confirmed she and Madonna were no longer pals when she made a reference to celebrity personal trainer Tracy Anderson, who used to work with them both. Gwyneth said: 'It's good that [Tracy] doesn't train Madonna any more. It was too much. She keeps people waiting — it takes up your whole day.' She later admitted: 'Oh yes, I can be mean. I can cave in to gossip. I can ice people out and I definitely harbour revenge.' The Oscar-winner's spat with the Hung Up singer is not the only bombshell revelation from the book. Gwyneth's relationship with her ex Brad Pitt is also explored by author Odell, who says she conducted 220 interviews with 'close current and former friends and colleagues'. Her book reveals Gwyneth started hooking up with Brad on the set of 1995 crime thriller Se7en, where he had requested she play his wife. But trouble started brewing after Gwyneth, who led a privileged life and was educated privately, struggled with Brad's working-class roots. The daughter of actress Blythe Danner and director Bruce Paltrow, Gwyneth attended posh fee-paying school Spence and moved into Hollywood with ease, winning an Academy Award aged 26. 7 Shocking claims are also made about Gwyneth's temperament as boss of wellness brand Goop Credit: Getty 7 Gwyneth's relationship with her ex Brad Pitt is also explored in the book Credit: Getty - Contributor 7 Gwyneth's on-off three-year relationship with Ben Affleck is also explored Credit: Getty By contrast, Brad worked as a limo driver for strippers and dressed as a chicken to advertise a food chain before getting his big break. The book brutally details what appears to be Gwyneth's disdain for their different worlds. She is reported to have said: 'Brad and I had very different upbringings. 'So when we go to restaurants and order caviar, I have to say to Brad, 'This is beluga and this is osetra.'' It was after Gwyneth was cast in the movie adaptation of Jane Austen's book Emma in 1996 that she is said to have admitted to having doubts about their relationship. The film received rave reviews, and despite Gwyneth agreeing to marry Brad three months after it came out, she is said to have cried over whether their relationship was right. They seemed threatened by each other, based on whom Gwyneth was favouring in a given moment Amy Odell The biography recalls how Gwyneth would sob to her friend and make-up artist Kevyn Aucoin 'multiple times' over the fact Brad 'wanted to be with her, but seemed to feel threatened by her success and all the attention she received.' Kevyn is said to have told Gwyneth: 'You really need to end this'. Odell's book also claims Gwyneth 'expressed doubts' about their romance and 'admitted she had a crush on Hugh Grant'. The pair split in 1997, with Gywneth later saying in 2015: 'I wasn't ready, and he was too good for me.' Gwyneth's on-off three-year relationship with Ben Affleck is also explored in the book, with claims she 'spoke openly about how much she enjoyed their sex life' and told her make-up artist Kevyn how she 'loved' him performing an X-rated act on her. Those close to Gwyneth said she fell for his 'intellect' but said her friends were worried because he was 'more interested in playing video games with the guys at his house'. 7 Gwyneth: The Biography by Amy Odell is out on July 31st The book also claims he cheated on her, with Odell writing: 'Their physical chemistry couldn't overcome his self-destructive impulses, which may have even included cheating on her.' Shocking claims are also made about Gwyneth's temperament — including as boss of wellness brand Goop, which she launched in 2008. Author Odell claims 'executives struggled to navigate Gwyneth's impatience and perfectionism.' She wrote: 'They seemed threatened by each other, based on whom Gwyneth was favouring in a given moment (and she made it clear). 'Employees who worked up the nerve to go into her office were often met with impatience, an attitude of 'What do you want? Get it over with.'' Another tale recalls 'leadership team meetings' where Gwyneth would bring in specialists to hold 'self-improvement workshops' with their teams. 'Ralph Lauren was not happy about the fit' Odell writes: 'At one such meeting, a facilitator asked the executives to take turns saying one thing they believed to be true about themselves but wasn't true of anybody else in the room. 'When it was Gwyneth's turn, she said with a smile, 'I won an Oscar.' 'Her team's reaction amounted to a playful 'Gwyneth, f**k off.'' Odell's sources also claim Gwyneth clashed with Ralph Lauren over her gown for the 1999 Oscars where she won Best Actress for Shakespeare In Love. According to the book, Gwyneth said she wanted the design to be 'inspired by Grace Kelly' and that she had wanted 'the neckline lower and lower'. It's claimed famed designer Ralph became 'frustrated' after Gwyneth lost weight and came close to refusing to send the dress to Los Angeles for the fitting. The biography claims: 'The designers at Ralph Lauren noticed that something looked off when she wore it that night. 'The fabric was puckering, a little wrinkly, loose around her torso — as if she had instantly lost ten pounds. 'They realised she hadn't worn the inner detachable corset that came with the gown, which would have made it fit more snugly. Lauren was not happy about the fit.' Gwyneth's marriage to Chris Martin is also examined in the book, with those close to the actress describing him as an 'introvert who could be socially awkward'. They also claim she was 'seduced by his persona'. Gwyneth and Chris married in December 2003 and had daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19. They split in 2014, with Gwyneth coining the now infamous phrase 'consciously uncoupling.' But Odell claims that the couple 'had separated a year earlier' to give themselves the chance to work through the break-up. Using Goop as the platform to announce the split was, apparently, also meticulously planned. The book says of Gwyneth: 'While she privately struggled to generate optimism about the separation, she found a way to do it publicly, to turn this painful, confusing failure into a project that might inspire and illuminate — and maybe boost the brand.' That brand, Odell claims, is now being handed down to Gywneth and Chris' daughter Apple — who is studying Law, History, and Society at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. It is claimed Apple has a 'genuine interest' in the brand. Gwyneth's agent Richard Lovett says: 'She's not going to be the next [Gwyneth], but she will be the original Apple.'
