Debenhams diamond watch 'almost identical to Cartier' gets £2,800 price slash

Daily Record05-05-2025
This 'stunning' timepiece 'looks far more expensive than it is' and can be snapped up for 94 percent less.
We have been blessed with incredible weather in recent days and hopefully you were able to make the most of it over the bank holiday weekend. Whether at an impromptu garden party or just meeting some pals, you'll be wanting to look your best in the sun.
While many people think about what dresses or tops they can buy to freshen up their look, one simple way of adding a touch of class to your summer outfit is with a stylish watch.
If you're looking for a luxury timepiece without having to pay through the nose, then Debenhams' sale is worth checking out. The retail giant has slashed the prices of thousands of watches - so there's something for everyone.
One of the biggest savings is on Gevril's GV2 Milan Silver Dial Swiss Quartz Diamonds IPYG Stainless Steel Watch. The "stunning" watch normally costs an eye-watering £2,995, but you can get it for just £183.75.
This 94 percent cut offers a monster discount, taking a whopping £2,811.25 off the standard price.
Debenhams say the "romantic, decadent timepiece" has been inspired by the fashion capital of the world and "combines precision Swiss quartz craftsmanship with signature, effortless Italian style".
It has "timeless sophistication and delicate details", while the diamond bezel and sapphire crystal face add a touch of pure luxury. The Roman numeral dials showcase class, alongside yet more diamonds set in a square within the watch face.
The blue cabochan push-pull crown stands out from the vibrant yellow gold bracelet and buckle. And the GV2 Milan Diamond Watch has a 5ATM water resistance, meaning it will be fine if worn in the shower but might be best left off if you're going for a long swim.
Another stunning watch in Debenhams' huge sale is the Emma Loves Diamonds Luna Swiss Quartz Watch. It is currently down to £146.75, a 72 per cent saving from its £525 RRP.
Alternatively, another dazzling diamond watch is the Guess Ladies' Stone Set Watch. You can get it from H. Samuel for the reduced price of £89, less than half of its usual £179.99.
But if you want Gevril's GV2 Milan Diamond Watch then you're far from alone. Shoppers lavished the timepiece with praise, with some comparing it to far more pricey brands.
One person wrote: "Great value. Quality designed watch! Looks far more expensive than it is!"
Another five-star reviewer said: "Very nice watch, almost identical to Cartier. It is a stunning watch." However, they did add that the watch was "quite tight" but didn't come with an extra link.
Others, however, found that the watch was too big for their wrists. One said: "Beautiful watch, a little too big for my wrist but easy enough to get taken in. Beautiful investment piece."
Another added: "I am so pleased with this watch, it came in a stunning black box which, once opened, revealed this beautiful watch. It has the feel and look of such quality, it was much too big for me in the strap but my local jewellers soon remedied that, it now fits perfectly and looks amazing on my wrist."
One praising customer said: "Lovely looking watch, sturdy and accurate. Would recommend." And another wrote: "It's a great quality watch for this price, a nice present."

Customer left furious after Italian restaurant adds very sneaky & ‘crazy' extra charge to his bill

Dozens have blasted the fee as 'pathetic' GRINDS MY GEARS Customer left furious after Italian restaurant adds very sneaky & 'crazy' extra charge to his bill Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A CUSTOMER was left raging after an Italian restaurant added a sneaky hidden charge to his bill. The local was dining at a city centre pizzeria in Bari, Italy where he ordered two pizzas, a bottle of water, and a beer. The incident sparked outrage online with users blasting the "crazy" extra fee as "pathetic". The pepper is printed under the pizza on the receipt's list of items with the 50 cent surcharge (or 43 pence) slapped next to it. While many have slammed the fee as unfair others have defended the extra charge - deeming it natural to pay more for extra ingredients. The controversy comes just weeks after Audrey Patisserie in Oderzo, northern Italy, charged a customer for cutting her croissant in half. The woman had bought two coffees and a pastry to share with her mom. It wasn't until she got home, however, that she noticed she was billed for asking staff to split the croissant in half. After posting about her experience online, she was flooded with responses from raging users bemoaning the restaurant's "total lack of elegance". One user slammed: "You have to hate your customers to charge them EUR 0.10 to cut a croissant in half. A total lack of elegance, refinement, and empathy. Customer Charged Surprise $5 'Bitching Fee' at Pizzeria After Speaking Up "They should bring hotel management students to your restaurant to show them how not to treat your customers. Pathetic." While another blasted the restaurant a "disgrace". In response to the massive public outcry, owner of the restaurant Massimiliano Viotto defended the charge as a "conscious choice". He claimed the extra money was to cover the use of an extra plate and napkin and for the "skill" needed to cut a pastry in half. He said: "It's not a scam. It is a conscious choice that we defend with pride." Last year, a woman in Arezzo revealed she was slapped with a £50 fee to cut her own birthday cake in a restaurant. And it's not the only baffling bill making headlines. A man has told how he was left scratching his head after a local restaurant added a mysterious 'S Charge' to his tab. The 2.75 per cent extra fee — around 70 cents — appeared despite him paying in cash, meaning it couldn't be a card surcharge. Posting the receipt online, he wrote: 'After eating at a local restaurant I noticed a charge on the receipt I did not recognize and have never seen before. 'I emailed the contact listed on their website a week ago but never received a response.

Scottish firm in legal trademark row with McDonald's and Napoli

Giorgio Cozzolino has been sent legal letters challenging his bid to trademark the Scottish football ace's 'McFratm' nickname and use it for gin, pizza, coffee, whisky and restaurants, according to the Scottish Sun. The St Andrews businessman claims, however, that it wasn't inspired by McTominay – who was recently nominated for a prestigious Ballon D'Or. The term means 'my brother' in the Naples dialect. Cozzolino told The Scottish Sun: 'With McTominay playing in Napoli, there is more affinity between Scotland and the Italian city. 'It's a good time to strengthen our connection.' He added: 'I informed Napoli by email after registering my trademark application. "I'm open to discussions. "I'm not intending to fight, but to find a solution.'

Is this the best Thai street food stall in Newport?

The driving force behind Kinn Kinn Thai is Sitangsupa, also known as Gena, from Bangkok who aims to create delicious, modern Thai food with a heritage twist. The restaurant offers plenty of ethical vegan options and gluten free dishes to cater to all. From small plates, noodle bowls, rice bowls, dips and Thai Cocktails, Kinn Kinn Thai has plenty on their menu. Kinn Kinn Thai in Newport Market (Image: NQ) Since their establishment in 2019, Kinn Kinn Thai endeavours to deliver the vibrant flavours from Bangkok to Newport, broadening to takeaway too. The growing company is a leader in the street food sector due to its speed and exciting menu – with dishes prepared within three minutes. With restaurants in Newport Food Marketplace, Newport High Street and Gloucester Food Dock, Kinn Kinn Thai's mission to 'sell fresh food as fast as we can!' is expanding. I visited the Newport Market Food Court location for lunch and despite being tempted with several menu items, I ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken with a medium level of spice. Kinn Kinn Thai's menu (Image: NQ) This came reasonably quick and piping hot straight from the wok. To my delight, this dish was bursting with flavour. Tender, delicious chicken with sweet peppers cut through by a punchy, chilli heat partnered with noodles doused in their in-house kra pow sauce. It was a delight to eat from the first bite to the last. Priced at £13.50, I felt that this was a decent price for the quantity and quality of what was served. Drunken Noodles (Image: NQ) I then spoke to the chef working to ask for his thoughts on the business: "It's a family run restaurant that started as vegan Thai food and then it expanded… so far it's going really well!" As well as their inspiring food initiatives, Kinn Kinn Thai strive to reduce their environmental impact by ensuring that their packaging is compostable and recyclable – including cutlery, paper bags, napkins and even vegan ink for their logo. Newport Market (Image: NQ) Newport Food Market's rich history, a grade-II listed building constructed in 1889, is a prime location for this family-run business to flourish since its opening with the market's renovations in March 2022. The £5 million refurbishment has energized the city centre, combining food outlets from a myriad of backgrounds; Italian to Korean to Thai.
