OPEN// PM confirms growing global confidence in Egypt's economy
He added that Egypt's commitment to a flexible exchange rate has improved investor confidence.
Following a cabinet meeting in New Alamein, Madbouli said that global interest in building factories in Egypt is increasing. He confirmed that inflation fell to 14.4% in June, down from 16.5% in May, and said the government is monitoring prices and supply daily to ensure market stability.
The Premier added that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's participation in the recent African Union summit proves that Egypt has an active role across the continent, noting that Egypt leads two AU mechanisms: one for strategic coordination, the other for regional security in North Africa.
"Sisi also held several meetings with African leaders, who expressed interest in involving Egyptian companies in infrastructure projects, Madbouli added.
He noted that African leaders have asked Egyptian companies to take part in major development projects, citing their reputation for quality and delivery.
The Prime Minister added that three regasification ships are now connected to Egypt's national gas network via Ain Sokhna Port, with a capacity of 2.25 billion cubic feet per day. Two more ships, one in Alexandria and one in Aqaba, will enter service soon as part of the state's summer contingency plan.
Additionally, Madbouli affirmed that Egypt has paid over $1 billion in overdue payments to foreign energy partners and plans to pay an additional $1.4 billion before the end of 2024.
He concluded with remarks confirming that the government is committed to regular payments and is working to increase local gas production to reduce reliance on expensive imports. (MENA)

Egypt condemns Israeli targeting of worship places in Gaza - Foreign Affairs
Egypt condemned on Thursday in the strongest terms the Israeli occupation forces' bombardment and targeting of places of worship in the Gaza Strip, including mosques and churches—the latest of which was the Latin Patriarchate Church. In a statement, the Egyptian foreign ministry described these actions as a new crime and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. The ministry further expressed its strong denunciation of Israel's systematic violations of all norms of international humanitarian law in its war against innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza. Additionally, Cairo called on the international community to put an end to these violations and to oblige Israel, as the occupying power, to fulfil its responsibilities in protecting places of worship and refraining from any form of harm to holy sites. Earlier Thursday, three people were killed, including women, and seven others injured, including a pastor, in Israeli bombing of the Latin Patriarchate Church in Gaza, which houses displaced persons, Palestinian news agency (WAFA) reported. The Israeli strike on Gaza's only church has sparked wide global condemnation. Pope Leo XIV said he was "deeply saddened" by the Israeli strike on the church and renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire, expressing his profound hope for dialogue, reconciliation and enduring peace in the region. French President Emmanuel Macron also condemned the Israeli bombing, affirming France's solidarity with all Palestinian Christians who, from Gaza to Taybeh, are under threat. He also stressed that "the continuation of this war is unjustifiable." "A ceasefire must be established immediately, and civilians and captives must be freed from the danger of endless war," Macron wrote on X. Since the beginning of its genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, Israeli forces have killed over 58,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children, and injured nearly 140,000 others. CAIRO, July 18 (MENA) – Egypt condemned in the strongest possible terms the Israeli occupation forces' bombardment and targeting of places of worship in the Gaza Strip, including both mosques and churches, most recently the Holy Family Church, the only Catholic church in the Gaza Strip. Egypt condemned the act as yet another grave crime and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law. In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration expressed Egypt's deep concern regarding the systematic breaches by Israeli forces of fundamental principles of international humanitarian law during their ongoing military operations against innocent Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip. Egypt urged the international community to promptly undertake decisive measures to halt these violations and hold Israel accountable, as the occupying power, for its legal obligations to safeguard places of worship and preserve the inviolability of all holy sites under any circumstances.
