Krysten Ritter Returning as Jessica Jones for "Daredevil: Born Again" Season 2
Krysten Ritter is back as hard-fighting, hard-drinking Marvel hero Jessica Jones.
The announcement was made during Disney's upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on Tuesday. Ritter took the stage with Charlie Cox, star of 'Daredevil Born Again,' to reveal that she would be joining that show for its second season.
'It's so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and 'The Defenders' and now joining the MCU,' Ritter said. 'I'm so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!'
Ritter first played Jones in the self-titled Netflix series that debuted in 2015. 'Jessica Jones' was one of five Marvel shows to air on Netflix, along with 'Daredevil,' 'Luke Cage,' 'Iron First,' 'The Punisher,' and the crossover series 'The Defenders.' 'Jessica Jones' ultimately aired for three seasons, with its final Netflix season airing in 2019.
It was canceled, along with all the other Marvel-Netflix shows, when Disney initiated plans to air Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on Disney+.
Ritter received widespread praise for her portrayal of the character, who has super strength and the ability to fly. After a brief but failed stint as a superhero, Jones began working as a private investigator in New York.
Part of the Netflix-Marvel deal included a provision that prevented the characters featured in the shows from appearing in any non-Netflix series or film for at least two years after cancellation.
Disney has already begun bringing the characters back, with 'Daredevil: Born Again' starring Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio debuting on Disney+ in March 2025.
Jon Bernthal also returned in that show as Frank Castle, a.k.a The Punisher, with Season 2 of 'Born Again' already in the works.

100 Nights of Hero, a British historical fantasy film starring Egyptian-British actor Amir El-Masry, has been officially selected as the closing film of Critics' Week at the 82nd Venice Film Festival (27 August - 9 September). The film, based on the graphic novel carrying the same name by Isabel Greenberg, which itself was inspired by the One Thousand and One Nights, is set to have its world premiere in Venice. Set in a remote castle, 100 Nights of Hero explores the upheaval caused by the arrival of a mysterious and charismatic house guest. El-Masry takes on the role of Jerome, starring alongside Nicholas Galitzine, Emma Corrin, Maika Monroe, Charli XCX, Richard E. Grant, and Felicity Jones. 100 Nights of Hero's premiere in Venice comes shortly before El-Masry's new film, Giant, is set to hit cinemas across the UK and Europe this October. El-Masry has also wrapped filming The Stories, where he stars alongside Nelly Karim. The film is directed by Abu Bakr Shawky and produced by Mohamed Hefzy of Film Clinic. Amir El-Masry Born in Cairo in 1990 and raised in London, El-Masry's career kicked off with roles in Egyptian films, earning him Best Young Actor at the Egyptian Oscars in 2009. James Cameron Affirms Commitment to Directing Avatar 4 & 5 as He Turns 71 Years Old: "I'm Good to Go" and "There's No Reason Not" to Do It
Yara Sameh James Cameron affirmed in a new interview with Empire magazine that he's 'good to go' when it comes to directing 'Avatar 4″ and 'Avatar 5.' The third 'Avatar' movie, officially titled 'Avatar: Fire and Ash,' opens in theaters later this year. Cameron originally cast doubt on his 'Avatar' directing future, telling Empire in 2022 that helming the franchise is 'all-consuming' and he might want to 'pass the baton' to another director starting with 'Avatar 4.' But that's no longer the case with the Oscar winner. 'I mean, there's no reason not to,' Cameron said ahead of his 71st birthday in August about directing more 'Avatar' sequels himself. 'I'm healthy, I'm good to go. I'm not going to rule it out. I mean, I've got to make it in a vigorous way, to handle the kind of volume and energy of the work for another six or seven years. You know what I mean? I might not be able to do that… [but] if I can, I'll just do it.' Cameron noted that he already has a history of passing off his planned directorial efforts to other filmmakers, most notably giving 'Alita: Battle Angel' to Robert Rodriguez. The filmmaker was still closely involved with the film's production, he just wasn't physically in the director's chair. 'He honored what I had written. We worked very collaboratively,' Cameron said about Rodriguez. But Cameron's plan for now is to direct 'Avatar 4' and 'Avatar 5' himself, even with other non-'Avatar' projects taking shape. The filmmaker is attached to adaptations of the books 'Ghost of Hiroshima' and 'The Devils,' which could also impact his ability to direct more 'Avatar' sequels. Two movies Cameron doesn't plan on helming are 'Avatar 6' and 'Avatar 7,' although he told People magazine that he's cracked ideas for both. 'We're fully written through movie five, and I've got ideas for six and seven, although I'll probably be handing the baton on at that point,' Cameron said. 'Mortality catches up. But I mean, we're enjoying what we're doing. We're loving it. We get to work with great people.' For fans unhappy that Cameron's career is dominated by the 'Avatar' franchise, the director had this response at the time: 'People are always asking us, 'So why did you just keep working in the same…' Why did [George] Lucas keep working in the same thing? Why did [Gene] Roddenberry keep working in the same thing? Because when you connect with people, why would you squander that? Why would you start over with something else that might not connect?'. 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' was originally going to arrive in 2024, but Disney delayed it to December 19, 2025. 'Avatar 4' is on track for December 21, 2029, followed by 'Avatar 5' on December 19, 2031. Based on this timeline, the alleged final 'Avatar' movie will premiere 22 years after the original 2009 blockbuster. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Jeremy Renner Addresses MCU Return, "Hawkeye" Season 2
Yara Sameh Jeremy Renner is ready to return to the MCU. In a recent interview with Empire , Renner said he's ready to reprise his role of the bow-wielding Avenger, Hawkeye. He added that he's open to whatever Marvel has planned, whether that be a second season of the 'Hawkeye' Disney+ series or an MCU blockbuster. 'I'm always happy to be in that world, man. I love all those guys, I love the character,' Renner said. 'I'm sure we'll end up doing Season 2 [of 'Hawkeye'], and do other things. And I'm happy to do it. My body's getting ready for something like that. I don't know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights.' He added that he's recovered 'more than 150%' from his near-fatal snowplow accident in 2023, and is ready for the stunt work required for a Marvel vehicle. 'Having health and wellness be such a central part of my life, that's what's gotten me back,' Renner explained. 'And even as I age, I just feel stronger than I've been. I have some issues, and tendon issues and certain limitations of flexibility and mobility, but I spent a lot of time on getting better and stronger, and I wouldn't if I didn't get crushed.' This isn't the first time Renner spoke out about his potential MCU comeback. In May, 'The Hurt Locker' star said Marvel asked him to come back for 'Hawkeye' Season 2, but offered him 'half' of his salary from the first season. Renner speculated that his incident, which left him with eight ribs broken in 14 places, a broken right knee and ankle, a broken left leg tibia and ankle and a broken right clavicle and shoulder, had something to do with the reduced offer. He said at the time, 'I'm like, 'I'm sorry? Why? Did you think I'm only half the Jeremy because I got ran over? Maybe that's why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season.'' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
