CM Naidu vows to make Andhra No 1 in futuristic tech, innovation
Vijayawada, Jul 23 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that the state will emerge as the number one player in any space or technology, emphasising its focus on futuristic technologies.
Addressing the Investopia Summit in Vijayawada, Naidu asserted that Andhra Pradesh would lead in fields such as drones, electronics, and aerospace.
'I assure you, not just in one area—name any field, and we will be number one. Drones, electronics, aerospace—all future technologies are our focus now," said Naidu.
He highlighted that the state will leverage Artificial Intelligence in a big way, adding that he has always been pro-investor and investor-friendly for the benefit of the people of Andhra Pradesh, with the goal of 'eradicating poverty and creating wealth." Assuring that Andhra Pradesh is the best destination for investment, Naidu said the state has the necessary infrastructure and enjoys unique advantages, such as a 1,000-km coastline.
He also underscored that the state is a hub for agriculture, horticulture, aquaculture, and cash crops, along with having strengths in technology, the digital realm, and human resources.
Further, Naidu said the state aims to contribute 160 GW to the Centre's target of 500 GW of green energy production by 2030.
He also reminded the audience that he recently announced the Green Hydrogen Valley in Amaravati and reiterated his Quantum Valley initiative in the greenfield capital city.
According to the TDP supremo, Google is set to build its largest data centre outside the US in Vizag.
Urging investors to partner with Andhra Pradesh, Naidu promised to take their initiatives to a logical conclusion.
He added that trust is crucial—it cannot be built overnight, as it takes time. PTI STH SSK

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday accused the BJP of stalling 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) by using Muslim community as an excuse. He alleged that the leaders of saffron party were playing politics of sentiment by stating that they would back 42 percent quota for BCs if Muslims are removed from the list of BCs. Addressing a press conference in Delhi, he clarified that Muslims are being extended the benefits of reservation on the basis of their backwardness. He dared BJP to scrap reservation for Muslims in the states ruled by it or its allies. He asked why the BJP was not scrapping Muslim quota in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that BJP is adopting double standards on the issue of Muslim reservation and trying to derive political mileage by whipping up passions. 'You can't have one justice for Telangana and another justice for other states,' he remarked. He warned that if BJP oppose Backward Class reservation, the party will be wiped out from Telangana. Revanth Reddy along with some state ministers and Congress leaders arrived in the national capital to mobilise support of various parties for including two state laws for 42 per cent Backward Class reservation in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution. The Chief Minister recalled that the state legislature passed two Bills for 42 per cent quota for BCs in education, employment and public life and sent the same to the Centre for including in the 9th Schedule. Revanth Reddy also pointed out that the local body elections have to be conducted in the state by September as per the direction of the High Court. 'If 42 percent seats in local bodies are to be reserved for the BCs, the Centre will have to give its approval,' he said. The Chief Minister said there was no justification in the argument that total reservations should not cross 50 per cent. He claimed that the Centre crossed this limit long back with 10 per cent reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The Chief Minister also demanded that a leader from Telangana should be made the Vice-President of India. Revanth Reddy said Bandaru Dattatreya, whose tenure as Haryana Governor has just ended, should be made Vice-President. He alleged that since Dattatreya is an OBC leader he was sidelined to make G. Kishan Reddy the union minister. He said similarly Bandi Sanjay was removed as state BJP president and a Brahmin was recently appointed as the state BJP chief.

BJP calls for development of Tier-2, Tier-3 cities for equitable growth and control urban migration
BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday has highlighted the need for development to the Tier-2 and Tier -3 cities of Telangana for ensuring equitable growth distribution. It is not enough for Hyderabad capital region alone to be developed as rest of Telangana too should be brought onto the growth path and urban migration can be controlled only when sufficient employment opportunities should be created in the rural areas, he observed. There is no development in the corporate sector and despite the Opposition accusing Centre of being a 'suit boot sarkar', it has created an ennobling environment for firms to thrive, he claimed. The BJP-led government at the Centre has been aiding Telangana and Hyderabad in building the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) and also the circular rail network abutting it to provide better connectivity. Mr. Rao called upon the youth to ride on the entrepreneurship model making use of the new age technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Semi-Conductors and others so that they can turn to job givers than job seekers. Govt to impose restrictions on Indian teams' international play under bill
The central government will have the power to "impose reasonable restrictions" on the international participation of Indian teams and individual athletes under "extraordinary circumstances", as per the National Sports Governance Bill that was tabled in Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Covered in the clause on "Power to issue directions and impose restrictions in national interest," it clarifies a grey area on participation that often crops up with regards to arch foes Pakistan. "The Central Government may, by an order, impose reasonable restrictions on the participation of any national team of a concerned sport in international sports competitions or participation of any individual in the activities of the national sports, under extraordinary circumstances and in the national interest," states the bill, which will become an act only after being passed in both houses of the Parliament followed by President's ascent. The question of allowing an Indian team to compete in an international event mostly comes up when Pakistan is involved. The government policy has been clear for several years -- no bar on participation if it's a multi-lateral event but bilaterals are "out of question." This has been the position since the 2008 Mumbai terror attack in which over 150 people were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists. "This is an important step to ensure that the government has clear command on such decisions. Whenever national interest is involved, it's the government which faces the questions and it is only fair that it has the final say," a sports ministry source told PTI. The two neighbours' relationship nose-dived further after the Pahalgam terror attack this year in April in which 26 tourists were gunned down leading to a brief military showdown that ended on Pakistan's request for a ceasefire. The two countries have, however, engaged with each other in multilateral events even after Pahalgam as India is a member of the International Olympic Committee, whose charter bars any discrimination based on politics. India has also cleared the decks for Pakistan's entry to the country for international events like hockey's Asia Cup next month and the junior shooting World Cup later this year to remain compliant with the Olympic Charter. Compliance with the Charter is a must to land hosting rights of big events and India is gunning for the 2036 Olympic Games. Other discretionary powers Besides this, the central government will also have the final say on the relaxation of the clauses of the act, including the cap of number of Executive Committee members in national sports bodies, currently capped at 15. The sports ministry has assured that in case the international statutes differ from the provisions of the bill, the former will "take primacy". However, the final call on this will also be in the hands of the government after due consultation with the National Sports Board, which will have powers to recognise or de-recognise national federations. "...the Central Government may, after consulting the Board and the concerned International Sports Body as may be deemed necessary, issue a clarificatory notification in this regard," the bill states.
