BJP calls for development of Tier-2, Tier-3 cities for equitable growth and control urban migration

The Hindua day ago
BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday has highlighted the need for development to the Tier-2 and Tier -3 cities of Telangana for ensuring equitable growth distribution. It is not enough for Hyderabad capital region alone to be developed as rest of Telangana too should be brought onto the growth path and urban migration can be controlled only when sufficient employment opportunities should be created in the rural areas, he observed.
Giving an insight into the party's road map for growth and development of the State at an event organised by the Federation of Telangana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) here, the State president has pointed out that the Central government has laid lot of emphasis on promoting start ups as well as small, medium and micro level enterprises which provide more employment opportunities.
A separate Skill Development Ministry has been formed yet the industry is looking for skilled manpower, averred the former MLC and wondered if any policy level changes were necessary to deal with it. There is no development in the corporate sector and despite the Opposition accusing Centre of being a 'suit boot sarkar', it has created an ennobling environment for firms to thrive, he claimed.
The BJP-led government at the Centre has been aiding Telangana and Hyderabad in building the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) and also the circular rail network abutting it to provide better connectivity. Mr. Rao called upon the youth to ride on the entrepreneurship model making use of the new age technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Semi-Conductors and others so that they can turn to job givers than job seekers.
The Modi government initiatives has led to direct benefit transfer of schemes with the opening of bank accounts to those sections untouched with the banking sector, he said and sought suggestions from the organisation for improving upon the ease of doing businesses rules. FTCCI president R. Ravikumar and others were present.

Revanth vows dharna at Jantar Mantar over 42% BC quota

1 2 3 Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday said he, along with ministers and party MPs, is ready to stage a dharna at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to press the Centre for approving 42% reservations for BCs in Telangana across panchayat raj local bodies, govt jobs, and educational institutions. He urged Rahul Gandhi and various parties' MPs to raise the issue in Parliament, asserting that the Telangana govt had submitted the proposal for enhanced BC quotas to the Centre and the President of India four months ago. Revanth also hinted at further enhancing reservation for SCs and STs based on the findings of the state's socio-economic caste census. The proposal includes raising SC quota from 15% to 17.5% and ST quota from 10% to 10.8% (11%). He said the upcoming national caste census would also bring clarity on the actual population share of these communities. It is a socio-economic, educational, and political survey. We collected 88 crore pages of self-declared data. It's 100% foolproof." Revanth said the letter of appreciation from Sonia Gandhi felt like a 'Nobel or Oscar award,' calling it the highest honour of his political career. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is this legal? He alleged that if Modi continues to stall the BC reservation bill, people will remove him from power and ensure the bill's passage. "During our previous dharna at Jantar Mantar, I told Modi — either pass it now or the people will pass it after removing you from power. That message must now be sent again through Parliament," he told party leaders. The CM slammed both the BJP and RSS for opposing caste census initiatives. He recalled that in 2020, the BJP-led central govt had told the Supreme Court it had no intention of conducting such a census, and Union minister Rajnath Singh had echoed the same position in Parliament. Revanth said the BJP only agreed to include caste census in the national census earlier this year due to pressure from Congress, particularly Rahul Gandhi, who made it a core demand during his Bharat Jodo Yatra. He accused BRS leaders KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao of attempting to discredit the survey's data, but said he had challenged them on the floor of the assembly to prove it wrong. Calling the survey a 'rare model,' Revanth said it would serve as a roadmap for the nation. "If anyone has a problem calling it the Telangana model, let's call it the rare model — and I'll explain why," he said. Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka gave a presentation on the survey's methodology, while irrigation minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and TPCC chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud spoke on its political significance.

NDA allies hail EC's mammoth poll rolls revision exercise

1 2 Patna: JD(U) and BJP and their allies on Thursday hailed the method and manner of conducting the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and insisted that the Election Commission (EC) has carried out the exercise with utmost transparency. "The aim and intention of the state govt is that no right and justified citizen of Bihar is excluded from the final draft of the electoral rolls," parliamentary affairs minister and senior JD(U) functionary Vijay Kumar Choudhary, said. Talking about the difference between the periodic simple revision (SR) and SIR, Choudhary said while the SR ensures that every eligible voter above 18 years of age is included in the electoral rolls, the SIR is concerned about ensuring all rightful and bona fide citizens of the country, living in any state, are included in the final electoral rolls, and that no such citizen is left out. The current SIR is being conducted around 22 years after the last one was done in 2003. Choudhary presented JD(U)'s position on the current SIR at the all-party discussion in the state assembly during the pre-lunch session. Among the speakers were deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, who presented the point of view of the BJP, which was in agreement with that of Choudhary, and Jyoti Manjhi of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like How these S'poreans are chasing their dreams & cutting costs by 'super commuting' between cities CNA Read More Undo While leader of the opposition and senior RJD functionary Tejashwi Prasad Yadav initiated the House discussion, Congress's Shakeel Ahmad Khan, Mahboob Alam of the CPI(ML), Ajay Kumar (CPM), Surya Kant (CPI) and Akhtarul Iman (AIMIM) were among the other speakers. Choudhary said it has been found that 18 lakh electors listed in the 2003 electoral rolls were already dead, which in itself justifies the current SIR exercise. He said that migrants working outside get registered at two-three places for voting, which has also necessitated the clean-up of the electoral rolls. The parliamentary affairs minister said the draft electoral rolls prepared through the SIR exercise would be ready by Aug 1, and corrections, if any, can be done till Sept 1. He also said it was possible to conduct house-to-house survey in a month, as had been done during the preparation of the 2003 electoral rolls. "The SIR is a good exercise that the EC has been conducting," the parliamentary affairs minister said. On the question that there's apprehension genuine voters could be excluded, Choudhary said bona fide citizen should not fear of being left out.

Karnataka smart meter case: Court orders registration of complaint against minister George, officials

Bengaluru: The simmering controversy over the tendering process of smart meters in Karnataka took an interesting turn with the special court for elected representatives on Wednesday directing enforcement agencies to register a private complaint report (PCR) against energy minister KJ George and others. Based on a complaint filed by BJP functionaries CN Ashwath Narayan, SR Vishwanath, and Dheeraj Muniraj, special court judge Santhosh Gajanan Bhat directed officials to submit a status report on the complaint filed with the Lokayukta in April 2025 pertaining to the same issue, besides registering a PCR. The complaint also named additional chief secretary (energy) Gaurav Gupta, previous Bescom MD Mahantesh Bilagi, and Bescom technical director SG Ramesh as accused in the case. The complainants alleged that all the accused did not comply with the tender rules while rolling out the smart meter tender. "A tender was floated in Sept 2024 to provide smart meter services, and it was allotted to one of the bidders, a Davanagere-based shell company. Rather than floating separate tenders for each of the Escoms (electricity supply companies), tenders were floated only for Bescom. The entire process not only violated provisions under the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurement Act, but also went against the guidelines laid down by the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission," the complaint read. BJP legislators have been hitting out at the state govt and accusing George, who also holds the position of Bescom chairman, of misappropriation in the smart meter tender ever since the issue snowballed into a major controversy during the budget session of legislature. Nothing illegal: George Reacting sharply to the development, the minister retorted: "Is there a court order? If so, give a copy to me and I will react to that." Hitting out at the BJP, he added: "There is a group comprising Ashwath Narayan and others. They have already filed a petition in the high court and have also complained to the governor. Now, a case has also been filed in the people's representatives court. There is nothing illegal and the tender process has been done according to the law. I'm ready to explain everything if needed. Rather than indulging in hit-and-run methods, let them produce documents to the court and our advocates will also argue. Eventually, I will bow to whatever the court orders." BJP demands George's ouster BJP legislator CN Ashwath Narayan on Thursday demanded the dismissal of energy minister KJ George. "There is no malice — this is in public interest," he said, alleging that contracts were given to blacklisted firms, regulations were flouted, and inflated rates were imposed. Narayan questioned whether George would resign, before urging chief minister Siddaramaiah to act immediately to uphold justice and govt accountability
