Reacher's Paulie Fight Knocked Alan Ritchson Out for ‘a Day and a Half'

Yahoo28-03-2025

Alan Ritchson revealed that he became unconscious while filming the brutal fight between his titular character and Olivier Richters' Paul 'Paulie' Van Hoven for the Season 3 finale. The incident took place while shooting one of the early scenes of the sequence. Ritchson had insisted that he would do his own stunts and had the camera on right on his face for the scene, despite objections from his team. Following the incident, Ritchson didn't wake up for 'a day and a half.'
Ritchson disclosed that he lost consciousness while filming the climactic fight scene between Reacher and Paulie with co-star Olivier Richters in the Season 3 finale of the Prime Video series.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Ritchson explained that he came up with the idea of having the camera on his face while shooting this particular scene so that the audience would 'know that I'm doing this for us. I'm taking one for Reacher and we're all in this together.'
However, Ritchson's team objected to the prospect of him filming the scene himself and wanted a stunt person to do it. They also advocated for putting the camera on the floor. According to the actor, he and his team had a 'huge fight' over it, but he ultimately 'won' the argument. He recalled his team reluctantly telling him, 'You better not die because we said you're going to die, and we tried to warn you.'
Ritchson said that he 'went through the seventh circle of hell' after Richters put him through the table. After regaining consciousness, Ritchson spoke to his children and assured them that he was alright. He added, 'It was the worst few minutes of my life.'
Notably, Reacher and his bigger, taller, and heavier opponent Paulie have their final fight in the Season 3 finale. It goes back and forth, with both parties growing increasingly frustrated that the other person refuses to die. Eventually, Reacher tricks Paulie into fatally shooting himself by plugging the barrel of the gun that the other man tries to shoot him with. Reacher almost ends up with a broken back and a few loose teeth, but he's the last man standing.
All three seasons of Reacher are currently available on Prime Video, and a fourth season has been announced.

Brianne Howey's Georgia Faces A Life Sentence And Murder Trial In ‘Ginny & Georgia' Season 3 Trailer

Netflix has released the full trailer for Season 3 of one of its biggest young adult hits, Ginny & Georgia, Season 3 of which could be headed down a dark path. The show returns to Netflix June 5 with 10 episodes. Season 2 ended on quite a few chaotic notes, including Georgia (Brianne Howey) getting arrested at her fairytale wedding to Mayor Paul Randolph (Scott Porter). More from Deadline 'Ginny & Georgia' Season 3: Everything We Know So Far 'Ginny & Georgia' Season 3 Casts Ty Doran & Noah Lamanna Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin Set As Host Of 'American Gladiators' Reboot On Amazon's Prime Video 'You know what I loved about your wedding?' Jennifer Robertson's Ellen Baker tells Georgia in the kitchen of the Baker household. 'It wasn't this cookie cutter copy and paste affair, it was very memorable.' 'Especially the part where I was arrested,' Georgia adds. To be clear, Georgia did commit the murder of Tom Fuller, husband of Cynthia Fuller (Sabrina Grdevich), whom she smothered in Season 2 while he was already ailing and in hospice. And her son Austin (Diesel La Torraca) witnessed her do it while he was playing a game of hide and seek with Cynthia's son Zach. He remained hidden in the closet while Tom's monitor flatlined. Austin's father Gil (Aaron Ashmore) also came to town last season, adding another wrinkle to the already layered life of Georgia Miller. 'My mom's awaiting your murder trial, and everyone at school is looking at me like I'm in the circus,' Ginny (Antonia Gentry) tells her best friend Maxine Baker (Sara Waisglass). 'It's fine.' 'College essay writes itself,' Max jokes. She later expresses deep concern for Ginny to the other two members of their friend group, MANG, Nora (Chelsea Clark) and Abby (Katie Douglas). Until her trial, Georgia will be under house arrest with an ankle monitor, which starts beeping when it needs to be charged. There seems to be tension between Paul and Georgia, though he can be spotted running with Ginny. RELATED: 'I've always known my mom was different,' Ginny's voice plays over scenes of her walking through a parking lot and being judged by her fellow students. 'There's more to her that people don't see.' 'Everyone thinks I'm a violent, unhinged monster,' Howey's voice plays over a scene of her having what looks like a panic attack. 'You can't give up,' Raymond Ablack's Joe, owner of Blue Farm, tells Georgia. 'At least it can't get any worse, right? Except if I go to prison, that would be worse,' she says with Joe next to him. 'I'm not a bad person, but if you come face to face with bad, you become a little bad yourself.' 'Mom needs me,' Ginny tells her father Zion (Nathan Mitchell). 'You think you have the whole story, but you don't.' Paul doesn't want any more secrets between him and Georgia. 'I've been defending my mom to everyone. I'm trying so hard to protect her, but I don't even know if it's the right thing to do,' Ginny says to a solemn looking Marcus (Felix Mallard), who had his own mental health struggles at the end of last season. 'I don't want my mom to go to prison.' Ellen Baker reaches out to comfort Ginny. 'You think she did this?' Paul asks Zion. The clip ends with Georgia chipperly declaring that she and Ginny are 'ride or die,' which they have been since the show's first season. Executive producers include Jeff Tahler, Jenny Daly, Holly Hines and Daniel March for Dynamic Television as well as Armand Leo, Lance Samuels and Daniel Iron for Blue Ice Pictures. ‘Ginny & Georgia' Stars Sara Waisglass and Felix Mallard Dissect Major Moments For The Baker Twins In Season 3

Ginny & Georgia . Marcus (Felix Mallard) and Maxine (Sara Waisglass) Baker have formed a strong foundation for Netflix's Ginny & Georgia as two key characters in the life of Ginny (Antonia Gentry). More from Deadline 'Ginny & Georgia' Season 3: Everything We Know So Far 'Ginny & Georgia' Season 3 Soundtrack: From Remi Wolf To Sofi Tukker 2025 Premiere Dates For New & Returning Series On Broadcast, Cable & Streaming While Max was Ginny's first close friend in Wellsbury, Massachusetts, Marcus is her first true love, but their relationship has its ups and downs as all three of them are sucked into the orbit of Ginny's mother Georgia (Brianne Howey) who is on trial for murder this season. Two sides of the same coin, Max is a social butterfly who talks a mile a minute, but she starts to really feel the pressure of having it all together this season as her brother's depression takes a super strong hold of him, as viewers witness starting at the end of Season 2. Thus, the dynamic for the twins, much like Ginny & Georgia's relationship, is one that constantly shifts in new ways. 'We've seen their sibling rivalry. We've seen them be sweet with each other, but we've never seen them at odds about a big issue,' Waisglass told Deadline ahead of Season 3's premiere. Waisglass and Mallard unpack some major moments — including an episode told from Max's perspective as well as a scene in which Marcus proves super supportive to Ginny — in the below interview. DEADLINE: WAISGLASS: I had had our writers hint to me that there was a Max-centric episode in the future, and I was curious what that would look like because I was a huge fan of the Marcus episode in Season 2. and it did not disappoint, honestly, getting to look inside Max's brain. I mean, I've always lived there. I've always had all of that on the mind, and obviously I'm a fast speaker, and so is Max, and there's a million things happening at the same time, but that's just who she is. And so to get to share that with everyone and kind of open it up in that way was really special. Also I love musicals, so getting to do another one of those was hilarious and amazing and also really special, because I do think that it shows a really wonderful side of Max. Because those musicals are usually where she shines, and it's when she gets the most attention, and she thrives on that, and instead of basking in the glory of her performance, she uses that time to tell her parents that her brother's struggling. I think that is such a selfless move on her part. I'm so proud of her for that. And yeah, I just, I think that episode was marvelous, if I do say so myself. DL: MALLARD: I think there's different techniques for different people. I'm certainly a big subscriber [to] music. [It's] such a huge part in trying to develop, 'How do you get into an emotional space?' But a lot of it, especially with Marcus, he's someone who is desperate to be seen and understood and loved, and has no vocabulary on how to deal with that. So it's examining moments in my life where I've felt angry or lonely or misunderstood or depressed, and there's a lot to draw from. There's a catharsis in being able to bring yourself to it, and then live in the circumstance, wind it all up, put as many details and ingredients as you want into that scene, and then when it comes to action, just let it all go and see what comes out, and see if you can surprise yourself. There's a lot of anger in in Marcus this season, and I think it's that not being able to be understood. There's an old, I think it's a Buddhist phrase about like, holding on to anger, is like holding on to hot coal, and it, just, all it does is hurt yourself. And not only does it do that,it hurts everyone around him. And to be able to sit and meditate on that — I've been saying meditate a lot today. It's my favorite word. WAISGLASS: It's the word of the day. MALLARD: I think it's grounds for a really, hopefully transcendent experience, like when we were stepping into those scenes, it was just — to be able to provide a space to go as deep and dark and angry and wild as possible was a real joy. DEADLINE: MALLARD: I think Ginny has always been his North Star. Ginny's always been the place where he feels most himself and most loved, and so it's the antidote to how he's feeling, but you know, as a snake eating its own tail, he doesn't feel like he has enough self-love, or that Ginny, you know, deserves to be around someone like him. So it's this push and pull of like I need to be with this person. I want to show up for her, and I can't. And how that all plays out. DEADLINE: WAISGLASS: I think Max is one of the only people who sees Marcus going deeper into a hole, and she's really trying to be there for him, and he is shutting her out. And I don't think that's something that happens often with them. I think they're always each other's number one. So I think that's an interesting place to take it. And definitely there was a scene in 9 I think, where we got to yell at each other a bit, and I think that that was really scary, because it was definitely a new energy for us to explore. And I remember even in the scene being like, I'm scared of you [Felix]. MALLARD: [Laughs].
