R-Truth returns to WWE under new name after 7 days of fierce backlash

Metro08-06-2025
WWE legend R-Truth made his shock return at Money In The Bank 2025 just one week after announcing his departure.
The 53-year-old former United States Champion left fans and his fellow stars furious last weekend when he revealed WWE had told him his contract was not being renewed.
On Sunday night, a masked figure took out John Cena during the Money In The Bank main event to stop him cheating to beat Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso in a tag match also featuring Logan Paul.
He revealed himself to be R-Truth to an incredible reaction from fans – just days after they tried to 'hijack' Raw by chanting is name – before leaving through the crowd.
As reported by PWInsider, he 'will be going under the Ron Killings name going forward, at least initially', using his real name as part of his new character.

He's used the moniker before, with the most high profile run coming during his time in TNA Wrestling as Ron 'The Truth' Killings'.
The quick nature of his WWE comeback has left fans stunned and questioning whether or not he was actually being let go.
R-Truth confirmed himself that he was being 'released', while reports at the time clarified his contract was not being renewed after an uninterrupted 17-year stint that started in 2008.
PWInsider added that he'd been in contact with a number of independent promotions, noting that 'the decision to bring him back happened over the last 72 hours'.
Triple H tried to play down the situation in the post-show, telling a reporter asking about the situation: 'I love that question. You enjoying the show? All part of the show, man.'
In a now-deleted post on his Instagram story, R-Truth's son Christopher Killings told him to 'stop the cap', before adding: 'Congrats on the new deal dad! Last run.'

Fightful has reported that his WWE contract hadn't actually expired, but he has now signed a new deal.
Sources told the outlet that said Truth appeared 'shocked and kind of disgusted' like everyone else over the situation.
It's said he 'ignored' several WWE approaches to open discussions this week, until WWE President Nick Khan called him personally to hash things out. More Trending
Talent have reportedly insisted Triple H's hint that it was a work and 'part of the show' is untrue.
One of them told the outlet: 'Ronnie wouldn't do that. If he had to maintain a work like that, he'd just ask us not to say anything.
'He would never lie to us about that. I think that Paul [Levesque] also knows that lying to or working the locker room is horrible taste.'

Logan Paul marries Nina Agdal in Lake Como wedding after birth of first child

Logan Paul and his fiancée Nina Agdal married at a ceremony in Italy a year after they got engaged. The controversial YouTuber and WWE star, 30, and Danish model, 33, tied the knot after the birth of their first child last year. The couple welcomed their daughter Esmé 10 months ago and she was with the couple for their wedding ceremony. Also in attendance at the Lake Como ceremony was Logan's brother Jake Paul, 28, who was joined by his fiancée and Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam, 26. Logan shared a series of images from his big day on his Instagram Stories, captioning one video: 'I've seriously been crying.' In the snaps, model Nina wore a strapless lace wedding dress, with corseted boning, with a veil in her slicked back hair. Meanwhile, Logan opted for a white suit jacket with a black bow tie with black trousers. In an interview with the Daily Front Row, Nina shared that she met Paul at an event in New York. 'I found out he was there and my gut was screaming that I had to say hi to him,' she told the outlet. 'I basically convinced him to meet me and my friends upstairs for a drink. I didn't want to walk downstairs because of my bad back. He came upstairs and we started joking around. It instantly felt like I had known him for years, and here we are. It was wild!' More Trending Logan first locked eyes on Nina when he was a teenager and she appeared in the Super Bowl advert eating a burger seductively. He instantly had a crush on her. 'I've had a crush on her since I was like 19,' Logan said on his podcast, Impaulsive. 'I had been loosely watching Nina as I became a bearded man,' he added, and she asked: 'Did you ever fantasise about me? View More » 'Probably,' he said as she quipped: 'Dreams come true.' WWE banned 'wild' request from top stars over major safety concerns

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video WWE superstars Jade Cargill and Naomi wanted to take things to another level in their No Holds Barred Match. The real life friends culminated their bitter on-screen rivalry with a brutal weapon-filled bout at Evolution last month with Bianca Belair as the special guest referee. Speaking exclusively to Metro before WWE's upcoming Road To Clash in Paris tour of Europe, Jade admitted some of their suggestions for the match were rejected by bosses. 'There was so much we wanted to use that was asked,' she laughed. 'We wanted to use mace, that was going to be tough. And then we wanted to use razors, and that was going to be tough, but I welcome it!' However, not surprisingly there were some safety concerns when it came to the idea of spraying mace at a live event. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. 'I wish we were able to use the mace. [But] we gotta think about the crowd, we don't want anybody in the crowd to be maced, because mace goes so far,' she added. 'That would've been wild! The whole first front row would have been lit with mace!' I pointed out us at the Metro would've loved the headlines made from that level of drama, and Jade laughed and insisted 'we don't need that'. Jade and Naomi, who is currently out of action for an undisclosed reason, also 'wanted to go into the crowd', which is something the women of WWE seldom get to do. 'I love interacting with the crowd,' she smiled. 'One, you get your money's worth. But two, it's that moment that people bring back with them, and they forever talk about it.' Jade is hoping to make more memories when WWE kicks off its return to Europe next week, as the tour culminates with SmackDown in Lyon, France, as well as Clash In Paris and Raw in the City of Love. 'I think it was the Lyon crowd that really started that whole European craziness and fans going wild,' she said. 'I couldn't hear anything. You just lost the noise,' she recalled, admitting it was her 'first time experiencing such a crowd' – but it's an environment she thrives in. She added: 'The louder the crowd, the bigger the crowd, the more I come alive.' That proved to be the case earlier this year when Jade returned from injury at Elimination Chamber to attack Naomi, revealing the latter as the mystery attacker after months of build up. She still 'gets goosebumps talking about it', as the wrestling star reflected on the incredible reaction that night. 'I didn't know what the Canadian crowd was going to the reaction was going to be, because Naomi is so loved,' she explained. 'I know a lot of people are waiting for, 'What's happening? When is she coming back? Who's the person who did it?' So I think the whole twist from me going from Liv and then attacking Naomi was jaw dropping.' Jade has also had some embarrassing moments in the ring, including a particularly mortifying one just over a year ago when she slipped off the top rope at Clash At The Castle in Glasgow. 'I've never failed in wrestling, was when I got on that top rope and I had failed,' she said after laughing with her head in her hands. 'Everybody backstage was comforting me, and I remember people were showing me their mishaps. I'm like, 'Yeah, but you gotta understand, it's my first one. It was on TV!' Oh my gosh. 'And everybody's like, 'Jade, look, let me show you my time. This is mine and this is mine. You just have a target on your back'. But that was my most embarrassing moment.' Jade acknowledge that you've 'gotta make mistakes' in wrestling, but she is always looking to be 'perfect' in the ring. 'It's how you turn around and you make that story from that mistake, and how you come out on top with these mistakes,' she pointed out. She'll be hoping for a much smoother ride in the UK and Europe, with her and the rest of the roster buzzing to get back everywhere from Manchester and Dublin to Lyon and Paris. More Trending 'Europe is just an electric crowd. I don't think anything's like it. If anything, I feel like they're all competing with one another,' she laughed. 'One's like crazy, and the other is like, 'Okay, watch this. We're going to be better! It's great, and it shows us exactly what we're here for.' WWE Friday Night SmackDown: UK Start Time & Matches for August 15 2025

That's what the WWE Universe has in store as Drew McIntyre is set to feature on the blue brand this evening, to address 'why' he attacked the current WWE Champion. Here's your preview for tonight's WWE Friday Night SmackDown, including what time it starts in the United Kingdom. The twists and turns on the road to Paris are set to continue this week on the blue brand, with tonight's episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown hopefully adding to the three matches confirmed for WWE's first Premium Live Event in Paris in two weeks - Clash in Paris. From the red brand, however (WWE Monday Night Raw), we've already seen three matches confirmed, with the men's and women's champion set to defend their titles in front of the Parisian crowd, while the John Cena retirement tour continues as he goes one-on-one with Logan Paul... Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad ...and guess what? We can cheer for John once again! Hooray - we can see him once again! However, plenty is bubbling on SmackDown, home of your WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, as after events unfolded at the end of last week's episode, things seem to be moving from simply simmering to about to boil over. Here's your preview for tonight's WWE SmackDown, the UK start time and what matches have been confirmed for Clash in Paris so far. What time does WWE Friday Night SmackDown start in the UK? Roll on those European tour dates - it means we won't have to stay up too late soon. On-demand repeats will be available shortly after the live broadcast. What matches and segments have been announced for WWE Friday Night SmackDown? Will Drew McIntyre explain his actions further on this week's SmackDown, after attacking WWE Champion Cody Rhodes last week? | WWE Several top superstars are slated to appear on the show, including Randy Orton, Tiffany Stratton, Jade Cargill, LA Knight, and Jacob Fatu, so anything could go. However, confirmed for this evening are the following matches and segments. Drew McIntyre to address his attack on Cody Rhodes Just why has The Scottish Psychopath set his eyes on WWE Champion Cody Rhodes? That is the question many hope to have answered as Drew McIntyre, two weeks away from the Paris PLE, is set to appear on SmackDown. Is it more of a sense that Rhodes has something that McIntyre wants, or is it far deeper than that? We know that McIntyre has previously stood up for his beliefs, be it whether they align with the rest of the WWE Universe or not, so is there something else about Rhodes that Drew has taken umbrage with? Being the 'golden boy' of the company - almost as if he was anointed by the 'powers that be' - could be brushing the Scotsman the wrong way, and perhaps it's equally to pull 'The American Nightmare' down a peg or two than just championship gold. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The Miz & Carmelo Hayes vs. TBA The unlikely team of The Miz and Carmelo Hayes tag up this evening against a team yet to be announced (possibly another duo from AAA?), with The Miz continuing to mentor the former NXT Champion. Or at least try to, that is. Hayes, over recent weeks, has seemed less than convinced of the calibre of the 'A-Lister,' but looks to at this time still give him the benefit of the doubt. But could a loss this evening finally be the nail in the coffin regarding this mentorship? 'Carmelo don't miss,' and possibly is getting sick of someone else missing on his team... The Street Profits v DIY The SmackDown tag team division continues to explode this evening, with former WWE Tag Team Champions set to collide in the form of The Street Profits and DIY. Both teams will want to gain an emphatic victory to lay their claim for a future title match after missing out on the gold at SummerSlam in an incredibly daredevil TLC match. Could a victory see them in contention, or are we going to see the other teams in the division once again disrupt proceedings? What matches are currently confirmed for WWE Clash in Paris? As of writing, three matches have been confirmed to take place at the WWE's first Paris-based PLE; many more are expected to be announced throughout the next fortnight, but it's already shaping up to be a sensational event in France this summer.
