Liz Hurley helping beau Billy Ray Cyrus 'fix toxic family feud' after startling realisation

Yahoo28-06-2025
Elizabeth Hurley and her country legend beau Billy Ray Cyrus have been cosying up at glamorous events since going public in April – but their romance runs far deeper than red carpet appearances together, a source close to Liz has claimed. They told OK! that Liz, 60, is also helping mend the 63-year-old singer's heartache, by gently encouraging him to fix his fractured relationships with his children, including singers Miley and Noah, after he 'pushed them all away'.
'Liz is the love of Billy Ray's life – that's what he calls her,' claimed the source. 'Her friends are saying she's never been happier and that she feels she can totally turn his life around. He's seen how close she is to her own son, Damian and she is helping him mend those sometimes difficult relationships with his daughter and the rest of the family.
They add: "She's helping him reconnect with his family and mend those relationships. She knows how important it is, as she's very close with Damian and she wants the same for Billy Ray. They're stronger than ever – he's fallen for her in every possible way. She's hoping she will be the guiding light and bring out the best in him.'
Achy Breaky Heart singer Billy Ray has described Liz as 'a great human being' and credited her with bringing joy back into his life. The couple have appeared together at several high-profile events, from the Orizzonti/Rosso exhibition in Rome to various fundraising galas in London.
They sent shockwaves through the showbiz world when they went public in April, following one of the most difficult chapters in Billy Ray's life.
The American singer had been dealing with the fallout from his split from second wife Tish – who he had been married to for 30 years in 2022. This was followed by his subsequent brief marriage to third wife Firerose, who he married in 2023 and divorced in 2024.
There were rumours of tension, following his split from Tish, among his six children – Miley, Noah and Braison (who he had with Tish), Brandi and Trace (who he adopted during his marriage to their mother, Tish) and Christopher (who he had with former girlfriend Kristin Luckey).
Trace, 36, posted an open letter to his dad on Instagram in January to say the family were 'genuinely worried' about him. He wrote, 'Since my earliest memories, all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever. I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life.
"Sadly, the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognise now. It seems this world has beaten you down and it's become obvious to everyone but you. You may be upset with me for posting this but I really couldn't care less at this point. Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you've pushed all of us away.'
While Miley didn't respond to her brother's statement, there were rumours she had fallen out with her dad too. However, since Billy Ray started dating Liz, the family appear to be coming back together. The pair headed out to support Miley at the premiere of her new film Something Beautiful in London last month.
'Billy Ray has been on the wrong track and was previously hitting the bottle and struggling,' said our source. 'Liz leads a super clean lifestyle – she's very fit, super into what she eats and keeping in top shape, and she's trying to help him in every area of his life, from his health to his family.'
Billy Ray and Liz's friendship began when they filmed the 2022 festive flick Christmas In Paradise together. Billy Ray previously revealed that Liz had contacted him while he was experiencing difficulties in his personal life, which became the trigger for their romance.
Appearing on Apple Music Country's The Ty Bentli Show , Billy Ray recalled, 'I felt like, 'Wow, can life get any harder? Can it get any tougher?' For me, at a certain point, it was like, you can't get knocked down any flatter than lying on your back when life is kicking you. And in this moment a friend reached out.'
Billy Ray said Liz's message said something like, 'Hey, it looks like life might be a little bit tough and just wanted you to know I'm in your corner – you've got a friend in your corner.'
Billy explained that he didn't have Liz's number saved in his mobile and was baffled by who was behind the message. 'So, I text back, 'Who is this?' And it's like, 'Elizabeth Hurley.' Of all the people to reach out to me in that second that maybe I needed most – this friend who made me laugh.'

One of D.C.'s Best Cocktail Bars Reveals Most Elaborate Menu Yet

Most cocktail menu updates aren't usually heralded with such fanfare, but neither are they the product of nearly a year of work. For the team at Silver Lyan, the essential Penn Quarter cocktail bar from London-based master mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana's ('Mr. Lyan'), the new menu is particularly significant (900 F Street NW). It's the fifth major menu iteration since its 2020 debut in the depths of the Riggs hotel, and the first since Silver Lyan was named one of the Top 50 Bars in North America for 2025 (No. 48), joining Service Bar and Allegory on the coveted list. The two-week-old Butterfly Effect menu at Silver Lyan — its 'most elaborate menu refresh so far,' per general manager Alex Leidy — is the result of nine months of intensive writing, development, and fine tuning. Head bartender Sam Nellis adds a striking splatter ring in the It's Alive! 75. Brian Oh The final product is a collection of 12 cocktails that play on the theme of happenstance and coincidence expressed in inventive formulations. That includes the Pikachu Pop, which inexplicably ties the story of how Pikachu became the face of a 2019 Chilean political movement to a spritzy drink with Chilean kiwi. Or the Operation Mind Fuck, which transforms the story a conspiracy theory involving an author friend of Lee Harvey Oswald, the Kennedy assassination, and the Illuminati into a smoked carrot vermouth and spring pea cordial suffused concoction. Leidy describes it as 'the perfect last drink of a day that started very early or first drink of a night that is going to end very late.' With the theme as a starting point, the team spends several months developing the different stories behind each cocktail. 'It's like a writer's room,' says head bartender Sam Nellis. 'A lot of our non-bar staff contribute and it democratizes the process.' Once the stories have been narrowed down to the chosen 12, the team conducts what they describe as 'flavor mapping,' which Nellis calls a 'pie in the sky brainstorming session where anything in the stories that could be a flavor are written down and lead to what the flavor and structure of the final drink might be.' It's only once the menu copy has been finalized do the team begin actually developing the recipes and ingredients for each drink. 'From copy, it takes three to four months to cocktails,' Nellis says. 'We mark the style, texture, and flavor of each detail in the story.' The Dynamite Old Fashioned at Silver Lyan. Brian Oh To execute the Butterfly Effect menu, the team needed to make 30-40 new components that weren't already readily available, including an acorn tincture and reanimated berry madeira for the It's Alive! 75. 'When we put down reanimated berry madeira, we had the idea that we would electrocute something,' recalls Nellis. What the team eventually came up with was a process in which raspberries and blackberries are infused into a dry madeira before being electrocuted to promote oxidation. It's a complex technique they were able to employ after consulting with Chetiyawardana and his tenured team of mixologists at Super Lyan in Amsterdam and Lyaness in London. But not every idea during the writing and brainstorming process makes it into the final product. Nellis recalls an early iteration of the Hokusai Snap, which was inspired by the accidental discovery of the pigment Prussian Blue. The Hokusai Snap is topped with a berry garnish. Brian Oh Drawing a parallel to other examples of laboratory serendipity, Nellis attempted to mimic the accidental discovery of Penicillin by employing penicillium roqueforti to ferment olive oil or cream to create something similar to blue cheese. 'But after more research, we went a different route,' says Nellis. 'We didn't want to give people botulism.' The final component resembled a less mad science-y milk punch Curaçao. Use of ambitious ingredients is nothing new for the team. In 2023, Silver Lyan's annual menu makeover called for distilled emu neck and smoked bee larvae. Ultimately, the team understands that its high-minded approach can be alienating to some. Its Classics selection continues fills in the gaps when it comes to guests' preferences. One playful addition to the stagnant list is Jack and Coke Service, which riffs on its famed martini service. 'The conceptual stuff and storytelling are important to what we do,' says Leidy. But at the end of the day, 'we are a bar and we want you to have a good time. If it's not delicious, we've failed.' Silver Lyan's general manager Alex Leidy ane head bartender Sam Nellis. Look of the Week: Lindsay Lohan just recreated this iconic ‘Freaky Friday' costume

EDITOR'S NOTE: Featuring the good, the bad and the ugly, 'Look of the Week' is a regular series dedicated to unpacking the most talked about outfit of the last seven days. Over two decades have passed since the release of Disney's comedy film 'Freaky Friday,' but at the sequel's premiere in London on Thursday, it seemed like no time at all. Chemistry abound between Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan — who are reprising their roles as mother Tess Coleman and daughter Anna — as they posed for photos amongst confetti. Even the red carpet was designed in lilac and green, reminiscent of the poster artwork for the original 2003 film. Lohan, who starred in the first film when she was just 16 years old, amped up the nostalgia further with her choice of outfit: a custom lavender metal mesh dress by Ludovic de Saint Sernin, which was embellished with Swarovski crystals, and a sparkling Judith Leiber guitar-shaped purse. For eagle-eyed fans, the ensemble might have looked familiar. It was an ode to one of the original 'Freaky Friday' costumes designed by Genevieve Tyrrell. In the film, after switching bodies for a day, Tess and Anna reach a nirvana of empathy and understanding. Tess accepts Anna's ambitions of becoming a professional musician, while Anna comes to terms with her mother's new relationship. In the closing scene, Anna performs with her band at her mother's wedding, wearing a lilac-colored lace-trimmed two piece by cult 1990s fashion label Mandalay, which served as the inspiration for Sernin's custom gown. 'I've been dreaming and manifesting this moment for nearly 20 years,' Sernin wrote on Instagram. He also thanked Andrew Mukamal, Lohan's influential stylist, who has been widely credited with popularizing method dressing after dressing Margot Robbie in a series of doll-like outfits for the 'Barbie' press tour in 2023. This is the second time Lohan has paid homage to her 'Freaky Friday' character through her fashion choices. Last month, she was photographed in a leather miniskirt and a tee emblazoned with the words 'Pink Slip' — the name of her band in the film. From the recent 'Beetlejuice' reboot to the release of 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' the seventh film in its franchise, millennial nostalgia is driving a number of cultural moments in the film industry — and beyond. 'Freaky Friday' is one such example of a cinematic relic that has stood the test of time. At the premiere, Curtis told the BBC she was inspired to take part in the sequel because the film was 'beloved, all over the world.' Lohan agreed. 'The fans love the movie. And that's really important,' she said. 'It makes you want to do it again.' But perhaps no fan was as excited as Sernin himself. 'I feel overwhelmed with joy and love right now,' he wrote. 'It's a full-circle moment for me.'
