Dubai to set up over 250 new charging stations in 2025

Trade Arabia03-03-2025
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has announced plans to set up more than 250 new charging stations across the city by the end of this year in co-ordination with Parkin Company, the largest provider of paid public parking facilities and services in Dubai.
This strategic collaboration will expand the total number of Dewa EV Green Charger stations in Dubai, enabling customers living or working to conveniently access EV charging infrastructure, said Dewa in a statement.
The improved end-user convenience will contribute to an increase in utilisation at parking spaces adjacent to the EV chargers, enhancing overall operational efficiency and revenue potential, it stated.
As part of the first phase of this sustainability initiative, Dewa will be installing some charging stations in Q1 for which specific on-street parking locations in zones A and C have already been strategically selected; mostly situated within high-density residential communities with limited or non-existent access to EV charging facilities.
According to Parkin, these stations will operate on alternating current (AC) with a capacity of 22 kilowatts x 2 and will be strategically placed across prime parking sites being managed by the group. Each charging station will serve two parking spaces, it stated.
Customers will be able to pay the EV charging tariff and parking fee in a single seamless transaction using Parkin's app and linked digital wallet, it added.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dewa, said: "We continue to strengthen green mobility by encouraging the use of eco-friendly electric vehicles to reduce carbon emissions from the transport sector."
"This aligns with the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which aim to make Dubai the city offering the best living experience," he stated.
Al Tayer said the partnership with Parkin to install EV Green Chargers was part of Dewa's efforts to provide advanced EV charging infrastructure in Dubai, delivering a seamless experience through charging facilities equipped with state-of-the-art, innovative technologies.
Dewa, he stated, currently has a wide network of EV Green Chargers, with around 740 charging points across Dubai. It now aims to expand this network to 1,000 charging stations by year-end.
"These initiatives support the UAE's climate goals and consolidate Dubai's position as a leading global destination to live, work and invest in," he added.
Eng Mohamed Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, said: "As the clear market leader in parking operations, management and technology in Dubai, Parkin has a critical role in enabling the transition to EV throughout the emirate."
"The installation of green chargers in key locations will enhance our world-class facilities, unlock new opportunities for growth and incentivise EV adoption," stated Al Ali.

ALDANAH by ROSHN: A New Benchmark for Living in Saudi Arabia

When you think of luxury living, with spacious interiors, green spaces, and abundant amenities, Dubai often comes to mind. But that perception is shifting, and the country leading this transformation is Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom is redefining how people live, work, and play. At the forefront of this change is ROSHN Group, the PIF-owned multi-asset developer. ROSHN's latest community development recently broke ground in Dhahran, in the Eastern Region. ALDANAH, the Group's first coastal community in the region, will feature over 2,000 homes across 1.7 million square meters. It introduces a new standard of living that prioritises thoughtful design, sustainability, and lifestyle. The result is a community that not only elevates the experience for its residents but also sets a new tone for the wider region. ROSHN Group has paid close attention to feedback, offering a diverse mix of home typologies that include a driver's room, a maid's room, and shaded parking as standard. Large windows maximise natural light, creating bright and airy spaces. Responding to the growing appetite for premium homes, ROSHN has introduced three exclusive villa designs located along ALDANAH's central 'green spine'. These homes feature expansive plots, ideal for gardens or swimming pools, and come with three or four parking spaces and an internal lift. Representing just 6% of the total homes, these 150 premium villas are a limited opportunity for elevated living. ALDANAH has been designed with long-term sustainability in mind. All homes are equipped with thermal insulation, energy-efficient air conditioning, and EV charging provisions. The wider community is equally forward-thinking, with smart irrigation systems, soil moisture sensors, and recycled water supporting the lush landscaping. With more than 145,000 square meters of land cultivated with native trees and shrubs, the community is envisioned as a natural haven. This commitment is most visible in the green spine running through the heart of ALDANAH, which includes walkways and cycling paths that connect residents to the community's many amenities. As with other ROSHN developments, ALDANAH embraces the 15-minute community concept, where everything a resident needs is within a short walk or drive. Once complete, ALDANAH will feature retail outlets, restaurants, schools, mosques, and office spaces. Key regional destinations, such as Aramco Stadium, Ithra, The Avenues Mall, and KFUPM, are all within a 15-minute drive. The opening weekend saw a strong response, with more than 80% of the initial release booked. If you missed out, more homes will be released soon.
