Prediction: Loss (6-7).

Prediction: Loss (6-8).
Week 16: at New Orleans Saints
The Saints have so much going on, simply put.

In a season finale at home, could the Jets sneak close to the postseason?

New York Liberty return home struggling after disappointing road trip
NEW YORK — The New York Liberty return home after a disappointing road trip that saw them drop three of their four games. Help is on the way, though, as Leonie Fiebich will return from playing in the EuroBasket tournament for Germany. That will give New York back one of its two missing starters. Jonquel Jones still is recovering from a sprained ankle and is out for a few more weeks. The team really has missed the two starters as its defense has struggled lately, giving up at least 89 points in three of the four road contests — including all three defeats. The schedule also gets kinder to the Liberty with an eight-game homestand for most of July. With the All-Star break thrown in, New York doesn't leave Barclays Center until a game at Dallas on July 28. The Liberty will welcome Caitlin Clark and the Fever twice over that span as well as rival Las Vegas. Hey now, you're an All-Star The WNBA All-Star starters were announced led by captains Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier. The pair will draft their teams after the reserves are revealed. Both are first-time captains. Clark, by virtue of receiving the most fan votes, will have the first pick in the draft. Other starters included Nneka Ogwumike, A'ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Aliyah Boston and Satou Sabally in the front court. Sabrina Ionescu, Allisha Gray and rookie Paige Bueckers got the nod in the backcourt. Power poll rankings Minnesota still is the No. 1 team with Phoenix and Atlanta behind the Lynx. New York, Golden State and Las Vegas were next. Seattle dropped three spots to seventh. Indiana and Washington followed the Storm. Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles and Connecticut rounded out the poll. Expanded footprint The WNBA announced three new teams will be joining the league with Cleveland set to begin play in 2028, Detroit in 2029 and Philadelphia in 2030. That will give the league 18 teams — the most it's ever had since it first started play in 1997. Player of the week Angel Reese of Chicago averaged 19.7 points, 17 rebounds and five assists to help the Sky win two of their three games last week. Other players receiving votes were Napheesa Collier of Minnesota, Kelsey Mitchell of Indiana and A'ja Wilson of Las Vegas. Game of the week Seattle at New York. The Storm play a three-game East Coast trip stopping in Atlanta, New York and Connecticut. They dropped two of their last three games and will try and get back on the winning track.

Where do Cowboys' Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach rank among Super Bowl-era QBs in panel vote?
Perhaps now more than ever before, the NFL is a quarterback-driven league. As fans wait to see which passer leads his team to a title in Super Bowl LX, the squad over at SB Nation decided to take a look back at which signal-callers have most dominated the game in the modern era. They've placed two of the Cowboys' greatest legends pretty high on the list. A 13-member panel, made up of analysts and writers from major national outlets, submitted their rankings for quarterbacks of the Super Bowl era, which began in 1966. Forty-eight QBs got votes; the lists were then compared to come up with the 30 who received the best scores overall. Both Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach made the top 20. 17. Troy Aikman With three Super Bowl rings, a gold jacket, and still the fourth-most passing yards in league history, one might think Aikman is ranked curiously low here. Panel members slotted the six-time Pro Bowler as high as 13th and as low as 28th, clearly recognizing what playing with all-time rushing king Emmitt Smith in the same huddle did to Aikman's career numbers (as well as what he was asked to do within the Cowboys' system). To wit, he ranks just 68th all-time in passing touchdowns. Still, 17th on this list is no small achievement, considering Aikman placed above luminaries like Warren Moon, Kurt Warner, Bart Starr, and Johnny Unitas. Marc Sessler from Underdog notes of Aikman: 'I was once in a ponderous verbal spat with a beer-addled fellow who argued that Tony Romo was superior to Troy Aikman based on compiled numbers in an altered era of pro football. Statistics can roll down a hill into the dark sea. Aikman morphed into a wild/fiery monolith of the American Idea: Cinema-star visage, theatrical wonders in the largest gridiron showdowns, and a calm and cool demeanor most men spend their entire lives searching for – and a great broadcaster, too.' 11. Roger Staubach Staubach will always be one of the biggest what-ifs in NFL history. The 1963 Heisman Trophy winner didn't play for the Cowboys until six years later because of his post-collegiate military commitment. He proved well worth the wait, though, earning the franchise its first two Super Bowl rings en route to a Hall of Fame career that was utterly brilliant despite being somewhat abbreviated. The six-time Pro Bowler ranked as high as 6th with panel members, and no lower than 23rd. He finished ahead of a who's who of prolific quarterbacks: Fran Tarkenton, Jim Kelly, Dan Fouts, and Terry Bradshaw. Writes Aaron Schatz of FTN Fantasy: 'Because of his Navy service, Roger Staubach didn't play in the NFL until he was 27 years old. He didn't start regularly until he was 29. That was 1971, when Staubach led the Dallas Cowboys to his first title in Super Bowl VI. Despite the late start, Staubach ranks this high because he was fantastic throughout the '70s. Then he took it to another level when the NFL liberalized passing rules in 1978. No other quarterback had a better grasp of the new rules, and Staubach was statistically dominant at ages 36 and 37. He easily could have kept going when he retired after the 1979 season.' SB Nation's top 10 will be released in the coming days. 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers projections: How many sacks will Calijah Kancey have in 2025?
Calijah Kancey enters his third NFL season full of momentum. In 2024, across 12 games and 541 snaps, Kancey registered 7.5 sacks, an impressive total for an interior defensive lineman. What stands out even more are his underlying pass-rush metrics. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Kancey's pressure rate jumped from 9.1% as a rookie to 10.5% last year, with his time to pressure falling from 3.07 to 2.77 seconds. Even more telling, his sack conversion rate skyrocketed from 12.1% in 2023 to 20.3% in 2024, a sign that when he gets there, he's finishing the job. Add it all up: Kancey isn't just winning reps, he's doing so faster and turning them into sacks with elite efficiency. On tape, his explosive get-off, hold-your-ground leverage, and high motor have consistently disrupted pockets, even when balanced against double-teams. Entering 2025 fully healthy, Kancey now benefits from an improved supporting cast. Vita Vea will continue to attract double-teams inside, while Haason Reddick's presence on the edge is likely to pull protection away from the interior. The Bucs have indicated plans to elevate Kancey's pass-rush role, particularly on third downs and in stunt-heavy packages, which are exactly the scenarios where his quickness and pressure skills create growth in his pressure and sack conversion metrics suggests Kancey is ready to transform more of those pressures into finished plays. If he plays a full 17-game slate and maintains last year's efficiency, the ceiling is high. Kancey's 2024 performance wasn't a fluke. The results confirm his talent. With an expanded role and better pocket collapse around him, expect a breakout in 2025.
