I tried my husband's ‘carefree approach' to parenting — here's what surprised me the most
When Emma's husband told her she needed to take a 'carefree approach' to parenting 'just like him,' she figured she had two options: Ignore him or take him up on his advice. 'I'm spending the day doing just that,' she said in a recent TikTok. 3 'I'm spending the day doing just that,' a mom named Emma said in a recent TikTok about channeling her husband's 'carefree approach' to parenting. tiktok/@thebambibase 'So much has changed with parenting' Taking to the app, Emma shared how she ran her day caring for her two daughters in total dad mode. 'Most moms change their lives a lot to become the main caretaker and dads still get to maintain a lot of their original lifestyle and have a lot more of a laidback and easy going approach to parenting,' Emma told Kidspot. 'I think so much has changed with parenting since 'back in the day' where the responsibility to parent was solely on the mother and now dads are becoming more and more hands on.' 3 Emma shared how she ran her day while caring for her daughters. tiktok/@thebambibase Emma wanted to flip the script and show just how important balance is when parenting alongside a partner. In a creative use of sarcasm, she said yes to things she'd usually say no to: Extra screen time. Chips in bed before 10am. A nutritious bowl of noodles for lunch. She took a load off too. A quick nap, no vacuuming, watching sports and Instagram videos (specifically on high volume). She even got to 'put on some multis because budgets don't apply to me.' 3 The mom took a quick nap, did no vacuuming, and watched sports and Instagram videos. tiktok/@thebambibase It clearly struck a chord. 'I think I just said things that most moms want to say but don't say it,' Emma said. 'Judging by the number of direct shares and comments on the video, most moms used my video to say it to their partners anyway.' 'I definitely ruined their day' What surprised Emma most was the reaction. 'I was surprised as to how many people thought I was being serious, but I was even more surprised as to how many people jumped on board and backed me up,' she revealed. But she's more curious about the dads who watched it. 'I can imagine I definitely ruined their day,' she joked. As for her husband, his response was pretty on-brand. 'After a quick eye roll and a mumble under his breath, he laughed and said I was funny,' she explained. 'He kept checking on the feedback on the video, mostly laughing at himself though, because he is the star of the video after all.' And it seems the internet agrees. Several commenters are already calling for a part two. It looks like Emma's only just scratched the surface of the carefree dad iceberg.

Prince Harry and Meghan Farce That Had Oprah in Stitches: 'Funniest Thing'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Oprah Winfrey recalled the frantic scene as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attempted to rehome a family of ducks in their pond, offering a rare glimpse into their A-list Southern California community. The talk show queen is neighbors with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in Montecito, and the trio are still friends years after Oprah provided the stage for their most explosive interview ever. In a less controversial moment that was still dramatic in a light-hearted way, Harry and Meghan were left running around their estate trying to catch their feathered friends. Oprah Winfrey interviewing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in March 2021. Oprah Winfrey interviewing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in March 2021. Joe Pugliese/Harpo Why It Matters Oprah is predominantly linked to the Sussexes in the public imagination due to the high drama of her March 2021 CBS interview with them, complete with allegations that a racialized comment was made about the couple's unborn child by a royal they did not name. Rarely, though, has she discussed the interview itself in the years that followed, despite major high-profile debates about what Harry and Meghan told her. It is interesting, therefore, to hear about their friendship continuing privately even if she does not ordinarily provide a running commentary on the royals. What To Know Oprah told the story during an appearance on Live! with Kelly and Mark host Kelly Ripa's Let's Talk Off Camera podcast, which filled in the blanks around an Instagram post by Meghan earlier in the year that showed the ducks. It all started when Oprah got a call from Harry on Easter Saturday saying, "Sorry to bother you, O, but we have a duck problem here." Harry described how a duck had come onto their land and laid eggs, which then hatched into fluffy ducklings near their $14.7 million mansion. "Our pond is a stream. We don't have a pond, so can we bring the ducks over to your pond?" Harry asked. The duke and duchess brought the ducks over in a box, but chaos ensued when they got out of the car in front of Gayle King and her kids. "As he opens the door," Oprah said, "the mama duck flies out and he's got all the baby ducks in a box. He goes, 'Oh no, the mama duck has flown away.'" "Then we're chasing the mama duck who's in the front yard and has flown to the other side. We've got her ducks. Harry's running after her," she said. "Megan gets out. She's running after chasing the mom and trying to get the mom to come back for their ducks. And for like a half an hour, we're running around with the ducks in the box and we're we have video. It's funniest thing I've ever seen." What People Are Saying Kelly Ripa joked after hearing the story: " just like us." In her original Instagram video about the ducks, Meghan wrote: "Wishing you a Happy Easter full of surprises!" Jack Royston is chief royal correspondent for Newsweek, based in London. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Son Joseph Baena Details Fitness Journey
Originally appeared on E! Online Say hello to Arnold Schwarzenegger's not-so-little kin. Indeed, the Terminator star's youngest son Joseph Baena, 27, has detailed his rigorous fitness journey on social media. And now, he's reflecting on the one sport that inspired him to focus on his health. 'People sometimes forget that I used to be chubby in high school,' Joseph captioned his July 18 Instagram post, which sees him looking back on his weight loss over the years. 'I got cut from my basketball and soccer team because I couldn't keep up with the other kids. Swim didn't have tryouts thankfully and completely changed my life forever.' According to the bodybuilder, this activity was his 'introduction to fitness and training.' And while Joseph—whose mom is Mildred Baena—has tried out other high intensity sports in recent years, he's grateful that he found swimming at a young age. More from E! Joseph's candid post comes two years after he reached one of his biggest fitness goals: Competing in his first triathlon. In October 2023, the realtor gushed over scoring his first medal on Instagram. 'What a great experience it was to compete with such amazing athletes,' he wrote at the time. 'With my birthday coming up I wanted to challenge myself in a new way, I feel like I did really well and I'm proud of myself for going the distance. I truly believe that if you have muscles, you should be able to use them.' And he isn't the only member of Arnold's family flexing his muscles. After all, the former governor's other son Christopher Schwarzenegger—the youngest of Arnold's four kids with ex Maria Shriver—has also been building his own exercise routine for six years. The 27-year-old recently shared the beloved food item he 'gave up' for Lent—the Christian religious observance that lasts for 40 days—to help him shed 30 pounds. 'I was like, 'Well, if I'm giving up bread, I might as well just take the opportunity and I'm a good Catholic boy, so I'm not going to break it,'' he explained at the Inaugural Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit in May. 'And so I lost 30 pounds just through that.'
