Former India spinner
R Ashwin
, who has seen Kamboj up close at
Chennai Super Kings
(CSK), feels the youngster can be a really good addition if he makes it into the India XI.
"With Bumrah and Siraj there, if you are bringing in Anshul Kamboj into the playing XI, I'm telling you, it's a serious bowling attack," Ashwin said on his Hindi YouTube channel Ash Ki Baat.
"People can say that Anshul Kamboj will be playing his first Test. But he was there with India A.
He has been in cracking form in first-class cricket. He averaged around 13 last season and even bagged 10 wickets in an innings. He had a kick-ass Duleep Trophy," he said.

Talking about what makes Kamboj special, the former India off-spinner said: "Anshul Kamboj knows how to bowl a long spell. You need that in England. Anshul will be a really good foil for Siraj and Bumrah."
"One thing the management will have to look after is Anshul's nerve.

Prasidh is also an option, but I will go with Anshul. He will give you that control and can also chip in with the bat.
"He has a very good tappa. I have seen that in the IPL. His wrist position is very good, and he delivers a very upright seam. He never leaves his tappa."
Ashwin also compared Kamboj with
Zaheer Khan
and Bumrah.
"The most appreciable thing about Anshul Kamboj is that he understands the plan. I have seen so many bowlers who, even after playing 30–40 Test matches, still don't understand the plan.
If you ask them about the plan, they just say they want to express themselves and enjoy the game," he said.
"Because they don't understand the plan. That is one type of bowling. The other is bowling according to the plan. Anshul Kamboj understands the plan and also knows how to execute it in the middle.
"I have seen that. It's not a trait a lot of fast bowlers have. Zaheer Khan was one of them—he was amazing. Jassi is another one. He understands the plan, makes plans, and executes them to perfection. Anshul Kamboj belongs to that variety."

Ind vs Eng 4th Test: With key players missing, Shubman faces the biggest test of leadership yet
Live Events (You can now subscribe to our (You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel Few roles in cricket come with as much scrutiny as leading India in a Test series in foreign conditions — and for Shubman Gill , the pressure has arrived in full Gill was appointed the captain of India's Test team, he had no prior experience of leading the national team. His only leadership experience at the top level came in the IPL, where he led Gujarat Titans for the last two seasons. And it showed in the first Test at Headingley where he let England chase down 371 in the fourth innings with such ease that it never felt like India were in the game at it didn't affect Gill's batting as he went on to score a brilliant century in his debut Test as captain in Leeds and followed it up with 269 and 161 in the second as India out-batted England in Birmingham to level the series. And it somewhat couched his captaincy flaws, the time the third Test moved closer to conclusion, though, the pressure of captaincy had started to show on Gill. It didn't help that he could only score a total of 22 runs across two innings. Usually not the one to indulge in on-field theatrics, Gill had a rare on-field exchange with Zak Crawley just before stumps on day three. That's what the pressure of a long Test series does to players, nudging them towards breaking their character."Honestly, physically it's been less tiring — mentally, it's been more exhausting. As a player, you're usually just waiting for something to happen, waiting for the ball to come to you. But as captain, you're thinking all the time. You're mentally more involved,' Gill said about his experience of leading the side in three began the series with a calm head and a mountain of runs to avoid the traps of expectation that often unsettle new Test captains, as well as the desperation to earn the respect of teammates. It showed that he could stay in the present, not allowing the anxiety about the future to muddle his thinking. Now, with India trailing 1-2 and the series on the line, he must show that he can also handle the pressure of to England, Gill didn't carry any scars. He had played only two Tests before he made his captaincy debut on June 20 — a one-off Test in 2022 against England and the World Test Championship final against Australia in 2023. India lost both of those Tests, but Gill was the youngest and least experienced player in that team, shielded from the criticism. In that sense, the Punjab lad entered the England series with a clean India head into the fourth Test, however, Gill's team is not only carrying mental bruises of recent defeats and disappointments that could have been avoided with slightly better application on the field, but also physical injuries that have forced the team management to rethink their playing will be without Nitish Kumar Reddy, a batting allrounder who bowls seam up, which could have been very helpful in Manchester where a pacer-friendly pitch awaits the two teams. Reddy, nursing a knee injury, will take no further part in the series and return home for the Deep, India's bowling hero in the second Test, has been ruled out with a groin injury. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh's long-awaited debut has been derailed due to hand injury he suffered in nets.'Never easy when there is a bit of injuries going on in the squad, but I think we have got enough good players in the team to be able to get 20 wickets,' said Gill at the pre-match press was some good news, too. Gill confirmed that his deputy Rishabh Pant's finger has healed enough for him to keep fourth Test has the potential of taking away the series from India. How Gill navigates this tough phase with a depleted squad, rising expectations and mounting pressure could be the first real test of his long-term captaincy credentials.

Colin Cowherd Claims LeBron James Has Accepted He'll Never Surpass Michael Jordan's Legacy: "MJ makes you feel something but LJ Doesn't"
LeBron James and Michael Jordan (Image via Getty) Colin Cowherd has reignited the never-ending GOAT debate by declaring that LeBron James knows he will never surpass Michael Jordan —not because of talent or longevity, but due to Jordan's unmatched legacy, emotional impact, and cultural power. Despite LeBron's historic career and statistical dominance, Cowherd argues the gap between the two legends remains rooted in intangibles Jordan still owns. Why Michael Jordan Still Wins Over LJ According to Colin Cowherd Colin Cowherd pinpointed three main areas where Michael Jordan remains untouchable: - Brand Power: Jordan's Air Jordan empire isn't just a shoe line—it's a global phenomenon. Cowherd called it 'the most powerful marketing campaign in sports history,' noting that LeBron James, despite immense commercial success, hasn't reached that same transcendent level of influence. - Emotional Connection: Michael Jordan, Cowherd says, 'makes you feel something.' His clutch performances and larger-than-life persona created a legacy that goes beyond numbers—a deep, emotional bond with fans that remains strong decades later. - Loyalty and Identity: Cowherd contrasted Jordan's commitment to the Chicago Bulls with LeBron James' team-hopping path. While LeBron sought the best basketball situations, Michael Jordan built his dynasty with one team, further cementing his mythos. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Up to 70% off | Shop Sale Libas Undo LeBron James' Longevity Can't Be Ignored Collin Cowherd (Image via Amy E. Price/Getty Images) To be clear, Colin Cowherd gave LeBron James his due. He acknowledged LeBron's incredible durability and elite play into his 40s, something even Cowherd once said wouldn't happen. In his 22nd season, LeBron remains one of the league's top performers, disproving early doubts about his staying power. Cowherd also stated that LeBron may have the most complete resume in basketball history, with All-Star appearances, championships, MVPs, and records piling up year after year. Seinfeld vs. Law & Order and How Cowherd Drew a Cultural Analogy Cowherd illustrated the contrast between Michael Jordan and LeBron James through a pop culture analogy, comparing Jordan to Seinfeld and LeBron to Law & Order . He described Jordan as Seinfeld —short-lived but iconic, unforgettable, and still a cultural landmark years after its original run. In contrast, LeBron was likened to Law & Order —a long-running, steady presence that remains relevant but lacks the same explosive cultural moment. This analogy captures how many fans perceive the two legends: Jordan as the singular, unforgettable phenomenon, and LeBron as the enduring force of consistency. Criticism Over Lakers Commitment Colin Cowherd also criticized LeBron James' decision to opt into a lucrative deal with the Lakers , claiming it limits the franchise's ability to build a title-contending roster. He suggested that LeBron may now be prioritizing financial security over chasing a final championship, a shift from the 'championship or bust' mentality Michael Jordan represented. Fans and analysts have called for Cowherd to walk back some of his past takes, especially those doubting LeBron's longevity. But Cowherd stands firm—respecting LeBron's greatness while still placing Jordan on a higher tier when it comes to legacy and cultural relevance. In Cowherd's view, LeBron's greatness lies in performance and longevity, but Michael Jordan's GOAT status is built on unmatched brand appeal, emotional depth, and singular loyalty. While LeBron James continues to break records, Cowherd believes even he knows that the emotional magic and cultural legacy of Michael Jordan remains unmatched.
