JEPC implements bridge course to reintegrate dropout students
2
Ranchi: The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has implemented a structured bridge course programme across the state aimed at reintegrating children who dropped out of school or were never enrolled.
The bridge course curriculum has been designed and divided into two parts — Part I for Classes I to V and Part II for Classes VI to VIII, based on the academic stage at which the child is being re-enrolled.
The state project director at JEPC Shashi Ranjan said, "The initiative is part of the efforts to ensure access to education under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and is focused on bridging the academic gaps in children's learning journey."
So far, around 59,000 children have been brought back into the education system through the 'Back to School' campaign. To support this reintegration, the bridge course is being implemented with the help of trained teachers and resource persons, who will conduct special remedial classes and assessments for the enrolled children.
As per the Shishu Panji survey, 43,250 were from Classes I to VIII, and 15,844 were from secondary levels.

The count included 24,649 dropouts and 18,601 children who were never enrolled. The SPD said, "It aims to build foundational competencies, close learning gaps, and prepare students for smooth integration into regular classroom settings. The curriculum has been developed to be flexible, inclusive, and responsive to individual learning paces, enabling each child to progress with confidence.
"
JEPC has also begun the development of special training modules tailored for out-of-school children. To facilitate this, a four-day residential workshop was organised in the first phase from June 23 to June 26. The workshop was conducted for the subject-wise teachers and resource persons, emphasising design content for the bridge modules. Participants were directed to attend the workshop with textbooks from Classes I to VIII of their respective subjects.

FYJC students told to confirm seats, then apply for APAAR
Pune: Students who have applied for first year junior college (FYJC, Std XI) and do not possess the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) identification can still confirm their admissions in the allotted colleges. The APAAR identification is used to manage and track academic credits. Many students were sent back by colleges to register first for APAAR and then return for confirmation of their admissions. Students approached the deputy director of education (Pune region) and the committee handling the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for FYJC in Maharashtra received several complaints from parents and students. Water supply restored to Pashan & Bavdhan; residents demand improved supply
Pune: Water supply resumed in the Pashan and Bavdhan areas on Wednesday, but residents complained of frequent low pressure and erratic supply, demanding administrative action to boost pressure for consistent relief. The water supply was disrupted in many parts of Pashan, Bavdhan and Baner over the last two days after a leakage developed in a pipeline on Monday evening, affecting water pumping at the overhead tanks. Pashan Road resident Tanmay Vate said though the supply was restored, irregular and low-pressure supply was almost a daily occurrence in the area. "PMC needs to work on low-pressure and inadequate water supply," Vate said. "We have received no major complaints from Pashan and Bavdhan. Our teams are set to visit the locations facing low-pressure supply," an official said. Bavdhan resident Vikrant Mohite said PMC teams were active only during crisis. "There is no continuous monitoring otherwise. In the merged areas of Bavdhan, many pockets have yet to receive adequate water from PMC. The work of an equitable supply scheme needs to be expedited," he said.

State increases assistance for widows with children under 21
Panaji: A hiked monthly aid of Rs 4,000 for widows whose youngest child is below the age of 21 was announced by chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday. This new scheme combines the benefits under the social welfare scheme for widows and the Griha Aadhar scheme for women from low-income families. The state came up with the scheme after many widows from needy families were adversely affected due to govt disallowing individuals from seeking benefits of dual govt schemes at a time. Sawant said that there are 36,000 widows in the state as per the data available with govt, and presently 2,049 have applied seeking govt aid. He urged others in need of financial assistance to come forward to avail of the benefit of Rs 4,000. 'Around 2,049 applications were pending for a year seeking the benefit under the DDSY scheme. We will now provide them all the backlog benefits from the date their applications were sanctioned. We will release it to their accounts within the next two days,' said Sawant. Henceforth, by only filing a single form seeking benefits under the social welfare scheme for widows, the beneficiaries will get the aid for widows of Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,500 meant for women, said the chief minister. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo 'This widow pension will be on till the youngest child of the beneficiary is below 21 years. Even after the youngest child attains 21 years, the woman will continue to get the Rs 2,500 benefit. Many widows were not applying for the benefit because of the cumbersome application process at two places. Also, many feared that if they take the benefit of Griha Aadhar, their widow pension may stop. We have also increased the pension amount for widows from Rs 2,000 earlier to Rs 2,500,' Sawant said. He said that the pension amount will be released under the new scheme at the earliest by the govt to any eligible beneficiaries that apply. He said that the state has also already released the first instalment payable under the Atal Aasra.
