No CM faced wrath of people like Revanth Reddy, says KTR
Ridiculing the criticism of KCR by Revanth Reddy, Rama Rao said if he was sitting in the CM's chair it is because of the BRS chief. He made these comments while addressing a group of Congress leaders and workers from Medak who joined the BRS party at Telangana Bhavan. Stating that the Siddipet was once known for pigs and donkeys, the BRS leader said that donkeys have now left from Medak except for one or two and these two would also leave soon.
Lashing out at the chief minister, Rao said, 'We have seen NT Rama Rao, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, K Rosaiah and KCR. No one faced the wrath of the people like Revanth Reddy. It is all drainage when he opens his mouth,' said KTR. He said that the chief minister promised loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh. The CM claimed waiving loans worth Rs 50,000 crore but washed off his hands by waiving just Rs 12,000 crore to Rs 13,000 crore. He assured RythuBandhu of Rs 15,000 for three crops but he gave just Rs 12,000 and wanted the farmers to celebrate and boasted that he will win 100 seats, said KTR.
Taking objections to the language used by the chief minister against the leader of opposition, KTR said, 'Revanth should not forget that today he was sitting in the CM's post only because of KCR. We were in power for ten years but never talked irresponsibly. Is this IndirammaRajyam? Booking cases against people who post against the government.'
Senior leader T Harish Rao said that earlier people used to say Siddipet means pigs and Medak means lots of donkeys. Now these places have been developed amazingly. There is Ramayampet Degree College, SC, ST Residential schools, KCR modernized the Ghanapuram canal. He ensured that even the last ayacut gets water. While KCR gave RythuBandhu in between cropping season, Revanth Reddy is giving in between the voting season. Lashing out at Irrigation Minister, Harish Rao said that Uttam Kumar Reddy always lies. 'Is it not a lie that you are cheating by not turning on the motors in Kalwakurthy while the gates are being lifted in Pothireddypadu and taking Krishna water? Isn't it true that lakhs of cusecs are going in Godavari? It is like the Revanth administration is sending water to Andhra and funds to Delhi,' said Harish Rao.

140 kilometres, 22 hours, a familiar destination – VS Achuthanandan's last journey
The mortal remains of former Kerala chief minister and veteran CPI(M) leader V S Achuthanandan, who died Monday at the age of 101, will be consigned to flames at Valiyachudukadu burial ground in Alappuzha on Wednesday evening. The body of VS, which was taken by road in a flower-decorated low-floor bus from the state capital on Tuesday afternoon, reached Alappuzha on Wednesday morning. It took 22 hours to cover a 140 km distance as a sea of humanity waited along the entire route to pay tribute to the Communist leader. Although the cortege was scheduled to reach his house in Punnapra, Alappuzha, on Tuesday at 9 pm, the warmth of the people delayed the final journey. Those who had gathered showered flower petals in front of the bus carrying the body and raised slogans calling VS immortal. Many who came from far-flung regions waited for hours to give a final red salute to the leader, who lived for the ordinary people and their issues. When the cortege reached Harippad in Alappuzha, local legislator and senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala was waiting to pay homage. 'When the final journey of VS is passing through Harippad, I have to be here,' he said. After reaching Alappuzha, the body was taken to his Velikkakathu house at Punnapra, where senior party leaders, including CPI(M) general secretary M A Baby, state secretary M V Govindan and Indian Union Muslim League president Panakkad Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal, were present. Later, in the afternoon, the body was taken to the Alappuzha district committee office of the CPI(M), which VS had turned into his second home during his early years of political life in the undivided Communist Party. The burial ground, which is close to communist hearts, is the resting place of hundreds of martyrs of the 1946 Punnapra-Vayalar uprising and several early leaders of the Communist movement such as T V Thomas, K R Gouriyamma, P T Punoose, R Sugathan and P K Chandranadan. The uprising, in which hundreds were martyred, had been a defining moment in the making of the organiser in VS. He was in charge of a camp to make sharpened lances out of arecanut tree planks to use against the weapons of the police force. Every year, VS used to pay tributes to the martyrs on the commemoration of the event in October. The last time he visited Valiyachudukadu was in October 2019, before he was bedridden following a stroke.

Speaking to reporters at the Parliament House complex after the Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned for a third consecutive day amid opposition protests over Bihar SIR among other issues, Gandhi asserted that he would put before the people and the Election Commission in "black in white" how the "theft of votes" is being done. Gandhi highlighted the recent revelation by the EC that during house-to-house visits in the ongoing SIR of electoral roll in Bihar, poll officials have so far found more than 52 lakh voters were not present at their addresses and another 18 lakh have died. "It is not just about 52 lakhs. It is not just about Bihar, they cheated in Maharashtra. We have asked questions of the Election Commission, asked them to show us the voters list; they did not show us the voters list, we asked for videography, they changed the law. One crore new voters had come in Maharashtra, and the election was stolen," he said. "In Karnataka, we have found out 'bhayankar chori (massive theft)'. I will show it in black and white to you and the Election Commission. I will show in black and white how the 'chori' is done and from where. We have it in black and white in Karnataka," the former Congress president said.

Karnatakas new caste census from Sept 22
Agency: PTI Bengaluru, Jul 23 (PTI) The Karnataka government will conduct a new 'Social and Educational survey', popularly known as 'caste census", in the state for 15 days, from September 22 to October 7, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday. The Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission is tasked with submitting the report by the end of October, which will shape the state's next budget. A preliminary meeting on the social and educational survey was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. 'The Backward Classes Commission has submitted a proposal to the government to conduct a social and educational survey. Accordingly, a survey of all 7 crore people in the state will be conducted. The main objective of the census is to eliminate caste discrimination," the CM was quoted as saying by his office in a statement. The survey also aims to gather comprehensive data on the financial status and land ownership. Siddaramaiah said. 'This time, the survey should be a model survey in the country." 'It has been decided to conduct the survey for 15 days from September 22 to October 7. The survey report should be submitted by the end of October. Instructions have been given to start preliminary preparations for the survey, including training from now itself," he added. On June 12, the Karnataka cabinet had decided to conduct a fresh social and educational survey (caste census), effectively binning the one done in 2015 at a cost of about Rs 165 crore, citing legalese. The cabinet had cited Section 11(1) of the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes Act 1995, which mandates a revision of the state backward classes list once in 10 years. The cabinet's decision to conduct a fresh survey follows directives from the top brass of Congress — President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi — to hold caste re-enumeration in Karnataka to address the concerns of some communities, who were excluded in the survey conducted 10 years ago. At the meeting today, Siddaramaiah emphasised that precautions would be taken to avoid any complaints about the survey and ensured that no one is left out of the exercise. 'The Kantharaju Commission had previously conducted the survey manually by preparing 54 questions. This time, more elements will be included in the survey. This time, the survey will be conducted using a mobile app," he said. Instructions have been given to study the social and educational census conducted in neighbouring Telangana, and it has also been decided to form a high-level committee to oversee the survey work. The CM stressed the need for a scientific and transparent approach, with assistance from an expert committee to finalise the questions to be asked in the survey. Pointing out that human resources, including 1.65 lakh enumerators, are required for the survey work, Siddaramaiah said along with the services of teachers, staff from other departments will also be used for the fresh survey. The CM asked all the departments concerned to work in coordination and make the survey a success. Backward Classes Welfare Minister Shivaraj Thangadgi, Chairman of the State Backward Classes Commission Madhusudan R Naik, Chief Secretary to the Government Shalini Rajneesh , Chief Minister's Legal Advisor and MLA Ponnanna, and senior officials attended the meeting. Various communities, especially Karnataka's two dominant ones — Vokkaligas and Veershaiva-Lingayats — had expressed strong reservations about the caste survey that was done in 2015, calling it 'unscientific", and had demand that it be rejected, and a fresh survey be conducted.
