Hisense Unveils New Ultra-Portable 4K Laser Projector

Hisense has announced the latest addition to its successful range of home entertainment projectors, claiming that the new M2 Pro is the smallest, lightest and most portable 4K model it's ever released.
The lifestyle appeal of the M2 Pro is instantly obvious in its eye-catching design, which sees a roughly cubic, tan-colored body attached to a crisp metallic supporting cradle within which the projector can be rotated to get its images appearing at the right height on your wall or screen.

Its compact dimensions together with a surprisingly and promisingly large lens with a stylishly wide cowl complete the M2 Pro's fun feel, instantly selling the idea that this is a projector that will look good in any room in your house you put it in.
Compact lifestyle projectors like the M2 Pro need to back up their portability by being easy to set up, something Hisense's new model achieves courtesy of Auto Keystone Correction and Auto Focus features, as well as Intelligent Wall Color Adaptation that can adjust the image to compensate for the colors of your walls. There's even a degree of optical zoom available to help you get the projector's pictures in the right place – a rare luxury in the portable projector market.
You don't even need to worry about finding an external source for the M2 Pro, as it's equipped with Hisense's own VIDAA smart TV platform. This provides access to the world's most popular and important video streaming services, including Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, Prime Video and Apple TV, putting countless hours of TV and movie content at your disposal provided you're able to connect the M2 Pro to your Wi-Fi network. The VIDAA support even extends to an integrated voice assistant, so you can initiate content searches just by telling the projector what you're looking for.
The M2 Pro claims some eye-catching performance specifications for such a lifestyle-focused projector. In particular, Hisense states that it's capable of outputting 1,300 lumens of brightness in a world where truly portable projectors typically struggle to get even half that bright. This is enough brightness, potentially, to leave the M2 Pro watchable in rooms that aren't completely blacked out – another handy lifestyle touch.
It's also claimed that the M2 Pro's triple laser lighting engine enables it to cover 110% of the BT 2020 color space – a remarkable suggestion given that most projectors, even high-end dedicated home theater projectors, struggle to cover even 100% of the much smaller DCI-P3 color gamut currently used for most high dynamic range mastering.
The M2 Pro's DLP optical system uses Texas Instruments' XPR technology to claim a 4K resolution from a 2.087 million native micromirror count. Claims the Consumer Technology Association, at least, considers to deliver genuine 4K results. This is backed up on the M2 Pro by what Hisense describes as 'next gen AI 4K Clarity technology miniaturized,' where a suite of algorithms work in harmony to create sharper, more detailed looking images.
The projector's processing includes an AI-powered 4K upscaler too, as well as AI noise reduction and even, very unusually for a lifestyle projector, an AI HDR Upscaler that optimizes contrast and highlights in the source image to create more impact. Something along the lines of the dynamic tone mapping systems deployed by many TVs these days.
The Hisense M2 Pro mini projector will be available for pre-order soon for $1,299.99 at Hisense's U.S. online shop and BH Photo & Video, as well as becoming available to order in late summer through authorized resellers (a list of which can be found a Hisense-USA.com).
