Witnesses could have ‘crucial details' for police in fatal Vancouver Island crash: RCMP
Police are sharing photos of a vehicle driven by an allegedly drunk driver arrested after a fatal crash on Vancouver Island, hoping people who saw the pickup in the lead-up to the collision will come forward.
Officers were called to the scene on Highway 19A near Fanny Bay around 4 p.m. on July 31, according to the B.C. Highway Patrol.
The driver of a black 2015 GMC Sierra Denali pickup which was towing a white Minilite RV had 'collided with multiple vehicles and killed a man who was standing at the side of the road,' Mounties said in a statement Wednesday.

Police also provided a photo of this trailer, which was being towed by a pickup involved in a fatal crash.
The driver was arrested at the scene for impaired driving causing death but was later released.
'Police are looking for witnesses who can fill in crucial details about the minutes and hours before the fatal collision,' the statement said.
B.C. Highway Patrol is also asking people to review dash-cam and security video from the area between Fanny Bay Wharf and the Rosewall log sort.
'Southbound drivers in particular may have witnessed important evidence before the collision,' the statement from police noted.
Anyone who saw or interacted with the driver before the crash, or who has video that could aid the investigation, is being urged to contact authorities at 250-286-5690 and quote file 2025-1582.

Gun, cocaine seized after impaired crash in Winnipeg

The collision happened just after midnight on Maryland Street near Portage Avenue. Police say a car driving south struck another vehicle that was waiting at a red light. Both vehicles were heavily damaged, but no injuries were reported. Officers observed the driver, 27-year-old woman, showed hints of intoxication. Vehicle search led to an unloaded 12-gauge shotgun, and officers also found 20 grams of cocaine on the woman. The drugs are estimated to be worth about $1,600. The 27-year-old woman faces several charges, including impaired driving, possession of a firearm without authorization, and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. She was released with a court date.

Man dead after shooting on PEI, RCMP investigating
RCMP on Prince Edward Island say they're investigating after an apparent shooting that took place on the west side of the Island on Friday. Mounties say in a Saturday news release that officers responded to a report of shots fired on Route 125 in Urbainville around 8 p.m. The release does not indicate whether anyone was shot, but says a vehicle involved in the incident appeared to have crashed into ditch and struck a telephone pole. They say a man who they believe to be the driver was pronounced dead at the scene and a 50-year-old woman from Summerside was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police determined the incident to be a targeted and isolated incident and there is no reason to believe there is a risk to public safety. The RCMP say the investigation is continuing with 'extensive police resources,' including RCMP Forensic Identification Services, RCMP police dogs, Summerside Police and Kensington Police Services.
