Bisleri's ‘Bottles for Change' Drives Plastic Circularity at Puri Rath Yatra 2025
Bisleri International Implements its Bottles for Change initiative at Puri Rath Yatra 2025
As part of the drive, plastic collection bins were strategically placed at high-footfall areas along the Rath Yatra route to encourage pilgrims and visitors to dispose of plastic responsibly. The initiative also engaged Self-Help Group (SHG) members to facilitate on-ground segregation of plastic waste. All collected plastic was transported to a designated Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for sorting, processing, and subsequently to recycling facilities, thereby ensuring that no plastic waste ends up in landfills.
Commenting on this initiative, Mr K. Ganesh, Director – Sustainability & Corporate Affairs, Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd., said, 'The Puri Rath Yatra presents a great opportunity to promote environmental responsibility. Through our Bottles for Change initiative, we are proud to support the Yatra by integrating sustainable practices ranging from bin placement and community engagement to material recovery and post-event clean-ups. Our efforts aim to ensure that the celebrations are both joyful and environmentally conscious.'
Additionally, to ensure cleanliness and raise awareness about environmental stewardship, Bisleri will also conduct two large-scale clean-up drives post the event in collaboration with students and citizen volunteers, reinforcing the values of shared civic responsibility and collective climate action.
Bisleri International Implements its Bottles for Change initiative at Puri Rath Yatra 2025
The campaign at Puri is a part of Bisleri's Bottles for Change footprint in Eastern India and vital in making plastic circularity a community-led movement. BFC initiative focuses on promoting plastic recycling, with Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) playing a key role. Bisleri has established these MRFs across India, including in Harvalem (Goa) Tiruvallur Municipal Corporation and SRM University (Chennai), Ranthambore National Park (Sawai Madhapur), and K East Ward (Mumbai). These MRFs, along with the Bench of Dreams initiative, contribute significantly to building a circular economy by reducing the environmental impact of waste and fostering sustainable consumption patterns.

Bisleri will always remain a privately-held firm, says VC Jayanti Chauhan

"I want to do this myself. As for an IPO, absolutely not. We have funds ... we will always remain a private company," she told ET in an exclusive interview on Thursday. Stating that innovation is crucial for legacy brands, she said: "We are giving Bisleri a new feel, a new look, and modernising. It's a legacy brand, yes. But you must keep innovating. Legacy gives you a head start... but you have to evolve with the market." Live Events Bisleri, which leads the packaged water market ahead of Coca-Cola's Kinley and PepsiCo's Aquafina, is investing ₹600 crore this year, compared to ₹850 crore over the past decade, on six new plants for capacity expansion, wider distribution, product development and marketing. The '25,000-crore packaged water market is teeming with unorganised players and counterfeits, many of which ride on equity of established players with similar brand names and packaging colours, posing a serious challenge to organised players. While calling a widespread distribution network across four-lakh-plus outlets "definitely its strength", Chauhan called out to government and state agencies to accelerate a clampdown on counterfeiters of bottled water. "Public health is at stake; we need stronger laws; like why are the smaller guys changing our names and using our colours and caps and getting away with it? There's only so much we can do as a company, but the rest is in the hands of the lawmakers," she added. Faster decision making, women comprising over 25% of the company's workforce and a higher diversity ratio in terms of employees from different parts of the country are key changes in the company, she said. "It has been a big deal for us; ours was a very male-dominated company earlier," she said. "If you're a national company, you need people from different states and different backgrounds to understand how that market works; the language changes every 100 kilometres in a diverse market that is India, the food changes. So, it's very important for me to have a very diverse group of people so that they can give me feedback. Also, to connect with Gen Z, you must hire them-they are the ones who are going to tell you about what's trending, what's in fashion and bring in that youth vibe." She said while newer products are being developed, Bisleri will stay within the realm of beverages, adding that premiumisation will be a focus area, such as introducing Bisleri and Vedica Himalayan Spring water in glass bottles. The company said it has 32% share in the ₹11,000-crore organised packaged drinking water segment, manufacturing across over 135 locations and distribution across four lakh outlets. Some of the categories it is pushing apart from its mainstay water are carbonated drinks such as Limonata, POP and Spyci. In June, Bisleri inked a strategic partnership with Dubai-based Apparel Group to manufacture, market and distribute in the UAE. Oman, the rest of the Middle East and North Africa are the other countries it will tap in due course.

Gujarat passenger vehicle sales dip 4.8% YoY in July
Ahmedabad: Passenger vehicle sales in Gujarat fell by 4.8% year-on-year in July 2025, down to 29,269 units from 30,744 in July 2024, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (Fada). Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The decline in car sales contributed significantly to the marginal 0.42% drop in overall vehicle retail across the state. Dealers point to multiple demand-side and supply-side challenges as reasons behind the slowdown. Weak buyer sentiment, affordability concerns, and ongoing strain in the entry-level car segment weighed heavily on volumes. At the same time, supply constraints are proving to be a growing concern, particularly in the SUV category, where several popular new models are facing limited availability and prolonged waiting periods. Fada Gujarat state chairperson Pranav Shah said, "Dealers are struggling with supply issues, especially for some newly launched models which are not easily available in certain brands. In the SUV segment, waiting periods are also high in certain cases which is impacting retail numbers." "While the marginal dip in July was also linked to calendar shifts, such as the Rathyatra festival moving from July last year to June this year, the underlying market sentiment remains cautious. Little degrowth in two-wheeler and car sales was expected in July. If we consider that effect, July was overall a good month for the auto industry," Shah added. "It appears that market saturation set in this year, especially when compared to the strong sales seen over the past two years. The current volatility, both economic and geopolitical, is making buyers cautious, and this hesitation is more visible in urban centres where demand has clearly slowed. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now I believe many potential buyers are holding off in anticipation of new, affordable entry-level electric cars. That said, we are seeing a marginal uptick in rural sales, which is a positive sign," said a senior RTO officer. "Volatility in the stock market significantly impacted investor confidence, and that is directly reflecting in cautious consumer spending. Despite positive factors like a good monsoon and strong overall earnings, the broader geopolitical scenario and developments like US tariff actions are creating uncertainty. These elements are weighing on retail investor sentiment, which in turn is slowing down big-ticket purchases like cars," said Jigar Vyas, CEO of a car dealership based in Ahmedabad. Despite the subdued July performance, the industry remains optimistic about a revival in August, as a strong festive line-up — Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami, Independence Day and Ganesh Chaturthi — coincides with positive rural indicators.
