13 Love Islanders who knew each other before the show, as it's claimed Lauren and Ty previously "hooked up"

Cosmopolitan17-07-2025
When contestants go on Love Island we always assume that this is the first time they're meeting their fellow Islanders. But as we've seen over the years, this isn't always the case.
Most recently, it was reported that Ty and Lauren actually "hooked" up when they met for the unfilmed rehearsal back in May.
Apparently, the producers really liked both of them and invited them back for Casa Amor. Now they're in a couple, after Toni stole Harrison back, but there's been no mention of their alleged hook up.
Ty and Lauren aren't the only Islanders with history though.
From uni besties to Instagram pals and exes, here's all the Islanders who knew each other before going on the show.
According to The Sun, Lauren and Ty "hooked up" during the unfilmed rehearsal week which they both took part in back in May.
A source said: "Ty and Lauren are acting like they've only just met but that's far from the case. They hooked up during the dry run, which is where a fake cast moves into the villa to test out everything from camera angles, to kitchen appliances and run-through challenges."
"And then they even saw each other on the outside before ITV invited them back to be part of Casa Amor."
Cosmopolitan UK has reached out to ITV for comment.
It's no secret season 12's Emma and Harry used to date. The duo dated for about three to four years (depending on who you ask), and split as Harry cheated on her "one week" into the relationship.
Season 12 star Megan recently revealed that Conor actually followed her on social media prior to the show.
"On day one [of Love Island] Conor told me that he followed me on Instagram four years ago," she said.
She added to heatworld: "I never followed him back. Since coming out I've seen that he follows me on TikTok and he's commented on one of my TikToks. Again, I've not followed him back or even realised he'd commented on one. It's nice that he's still trying four years later, it's worked out for him now I suppose."
Season five stars Amber and Ellie were longtime friends from Newcastle, with Ellie even being described as Amber's former "best friend".
Chuggs Wallis joined the seventh season of Love Island as a bombshell. There he reunited with his old university pal Hugo Hammond, who he attended Oxford Brookes University with.
Chuggs also knew Chloe Burrows, who took part in this series. She was surprised to see him on the show and said that his name was hard to forget.
As well as this, Chuggs previously matched with Lucinda Strafford on Tinder before coming on the show. How awkward!
Both Megan and Alex appeared on the fourth series of Love Island back in 2018.
It was revealed that they appeared in a music video together before appearing on the ITV2 dating show, however, this wasn't mentioned on the show.
Back in 2019, Curtis admitted that he slid into Maura's DMs before meeting her on the show. The pair ended up getting together and had an eight-month relationship outside of the show.
Gemma and Jacques dated before they appeared on season eight together. He joined as a bombshell while she was in the starting line-up, and he actually became good friends with Luca Bish, who she was coupled up with.
Olivia and Zara actually worked on the same music video before taking part in Love Island for the 2023 winter series.
They'd also interacted on social media, but weren't "besties" as such, especially once the show begun and Zara stole Tom off Olivia.
When the girlies went to Casa Amor in season 10, Ella was reunited with Ouzy who she'd met on the modelling scene and at events.
The pair ended up recoupling, but she eventually went back to Tyrique.
Ella Barnes revealed that she has "history" with Tyrique when she joined the show as a late bombshell in 2023.
"We've chatted. We've kissed. We saw each other quite recently," she explained.
While not on the same series of Love Island, it was recently revealed that season 12's Billykiss was previously in a relationship with Dami Hope, who appeared on season eight and has been in relationship with Indiyah Polack since.
Billykiss and Dami reportedly started a party business together after meeting in Dublin, which they still own now, according to The Tab.
Following his split from Toni, season 12's Cach has been getting to know Billykiss, but fans don't think it will work because Cach is really good friends with Dami - her ex.
Cach also knows a lot of former Islanders, including Josh Legrove, Tanya Manhenga, Shaq Muhammad and Deji Adeniyi.
New episodes of Love Island air on ITV2 at 9pm on weekdays and Sundays.

Brad Pitt's mother Jane Pitt dies at 84, family mourns her loss

Brad Pitt 's mother, Jane Pitt, has died at the age of 84, the actor's niece, Sydney Pitt, announced this week. According to her obituary, Jane Pitt died on Tuesday, Aug. 5. She is survived by her husband William Alvin "Bill" Pitt and their children, Brad Pitt, Doug Pitt and Julie Neal (née Pitt). In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Sydney Pitt, Doug Pitt's daughter, wrote a touching tribute to her grandmother, celebrating her legacy and the love she gave to others. "My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier," she wrote in the caption alongside photos of Jane Pitt throughout her life. "If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart. She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked," she continued. "She taught me how to paint, how to be strong, how to lead with kindness, to love Jesus through everything, and to find joy in the smallest things. She made up the silliest games just to make us laugh, and she believed in fairness, in putting others first, and doing good simply because it was the right thing to do." Sydney Pitt also recalled how every year before school, Jane would give each grandchild a "special day," filled with activities like banana splits, board games and rides at Silver Dollar City. "She could keep up with all 14 of us grandkids without missing a beat. There was no limit to the love she gave, and everyone who met her felt it," Sydney Pitt added. "I don't know how we move forward without her. But I know she's still here in every brushstroke, every kind gesture, every hummingbird. She was love in its purest form." "We were truly blessed to have her to love on growing up and I know she lives on through each of us ♥️🪽✨🦜," she concluded the post. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Jane Pitt was a former elementary school teacher who raised Brad Pitt and her two other children with her husband, Bill Pitt, in Springfield, Missouri. While Jane Pitt and Bill typically avoided the spotlight, they occasionally accompanied their famous son on the red carpet, including at the 2012 Oscars and the 2014 premiere of Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken." Her obituary also highlights Jane Pitt's passion for art and her devoted role as a grandmother. "Jane was a gifted artist who expressed herself most vividly through painting," the obituary read. "Her love for art became a cherished bond between her and her grandchildren during craft sessions and painting lessons that created lasting memories." "Known affectionately as 'Grammy,' Jane found immense joy in celebrating each grandchild's uniqueness through one-on-one traditions lovingly known as 'Your Special Day,'" the note continued. "These treasured moments remain among the fondest memories for all fourteen of her grandchildren."

Here's Why Alex Cooper and Alix Earle Are Feuding

For the past six months, the internet has been convinced that podcast girlies Alex Cooper and Alix Earle are beefing—and now, Alix basically just confirmed as much. Quick background: Alix Earle's Hot Mess podcast—which launched in September 2023 as a 'weekly recap of her life revealing all the in-depth, exclusive details that has everyone watching, talking, and wanting more'—was dropped by Alex Cooper's Unwell Network back in February. The move came amid fans noticing that Alix skipped Unwell's Super Bowl being in New Orleans. At the time, multiple sources confirmed to Us Weekly that Alex and Alix were 'at odds,' with one insider telling the outlet that "there's a lot of tension." Per a second insider: 'They've had a lot of drama between them [since] they decided to collaborate on Unwell. They clashed over business, and their friendship is over because of it.' The plot thickened in March, when Alex took to TikTok to dispel feud rumors, claiming Unwell Network had nothing to do with Hot Mess ending. (This was seemingly done in response to Alix's Wall Street Journal interview, where she talked about the production politics that led to the show's hiatus.) 'Alix not being able to podcast has nothing to do Unwell," she wrote. '[I don't know] why she can't/what's going on.' She added that 'Unwell gave [Alix] everything back' and that Alix 'owns her IP.' The latest: On August 1, Alix posted a TikTok, where she alluded to wanting to 'start some shit.' She added, 'Lowkey, is this my time that I've been waiting for? I have so much information.' A fan then slid into her comments to write, 'Yes tell us what happened with Alex Cooper,' to which Alix replied, 'How much time do you have?' Alex has yet to respond to this latest shade, but I'm sat and ready for when it happens!

Howard Stern's iconic radio show is facing cancelation as his $100M Sirius contract nears its end

Howard Stern's iconic radio show is set to be axed after a two-decade run with the broadcaster SiriusXM, according to a new report. The shock jock's contract with the digital radio giant is up for renewal soon, and SiriusXM doesn't expect he'll take them up on a new offer, sources told British tabloid The Sun. The Howard Stern Show experienced a surge in popularity after it was nationally syndicated on terrestrial radio from 1986 to 2005. Stern, known for his direct and controversial persona, has interviewed dozens of A-list celebrities and even former Vice President Kamala Harris, a month before voters headed to the polls in November 2024. In recent years, he has been openly critical of President Trump, saying he 'hated Trump voters,' and branded them as stupid – an opinion that Trump retaliated to by saying that Stern "went woke" and lost listeners as a result. Stern's contract is up in the fall, and while Sirius is planning to make him an offer, they don't intend for him to take it, an insider told The Sun. 'Sirius and Stern are never going to meet on the money he is going to want. It's no longer worth the investment,' the person added. In 2004, Stern became one of the highest-paid radio figures in the U.S. after signing a five-year deal with SiriusXM worth $500 million. The insider claims that SiriusXM was not going to be able to keep up with paying Stern his salary. "But as far as him coming back to doing the show, there's no way they can keep paying his salary," the source said. "After you saw what happened with Stephen Colbert, it's like they just can't afford to keep him going." Another Sun source said Stern's political views were not working in his favor. "If Sirius isn't going to give Stern a good offer, I don't think it would have anything to do with his ratings," the source claimed. "It's more likely everything to do with the political climate." CBS recently announced that Colbert's The Late Show was set to be scrapped because of 'a financial decision,' however, many speculated that the move came because of the host's frequent satirical blows to Trump. Stern joined SiriusXM at age 50 in response to 'censorship' efforts during his time at Viacom by the Federal Communications Commission, which does not regulate the content of satellite programs. The FCC had been fining Stern's station for over a decade. Stern became the most fined radio host between 1990 and 2004, after the FCC issued fines totaling $2.5 million to radio licensees for airing material it considered to be indecent from his show, the highest amount of any American radio show. During his time as a judge on the talent TV series America's Got Talent from 2012 to 2015, his appointment was criticized by The Parents Television Council, the watchdog group that bemoans any suggestion of sex or profanity on TV, for his "reputation for sleaze and misogyny.' The Independent contacted Stern's representatives and SiriusXM for comment. Solve the daily Crossword
