Jennifer Love Hewitt On Sarah Michelle Gellar Rumors
The two notably appeared in 1997's I Know What You Did Last Summer together, playing teenage friends alongside Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr.
But from the sound of it, they're not nearly as close as their onscreen characters, with Jennifer recently telling Vulture that she has not "seen" or "talked" to Sarah since 1997, "when the first movie came out."
She made the comments while addressing feud rumors, which were sparked in December when Sarah's seemingly "annoyed" reaction to a question about Jennifer's involvement in the new sequel movie went viral.
Jennifer and Freddie both reprise their roles in the film, which was released today.
Regarding the speculation, Jennifer told Vulture, "I honestly don't even know what that was or how that all came to be. I just think people don't want the narrative to be easy. Why do we always have to be against each other and out for each other?"
When asked whether she'd discussed the situation directly with Sarah, Jennifer replied, "I haven't seen Sarah. Literally, we've not talked since I saw her at 18 years old when the first movie came out. That's why it's so funny to me. People were like, 'Say something back.' And I'm like, 'What am I going to say? I've not seen her.' On my side, we're good. I have no idea where this is coming from."
Jennifer went on to share her "hope" of seeing Sarah at the premiere on Monday, which, as you might know, unfortunately, didn't end up happening. According to Sarah, they simply didn't cross paths, and "unfortunately JLH didn't come to the after party," either. But she did praise her co-star's "fantastic" performance in the sequel.
Posting photos from the premiere on Instagram, Sarah wrote in part that, "I sadly didn't get pics with most of the cast. But that doesn't change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately some things happen only in real life and not online."

Miles shared an Instagram post celebrating the big news with shots of the book and her script side-by-side with Edgar Jones's. On July 21, Variety reported that Caitríona Balfe (Outlander), George MacKay (1917), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), Frank Dillane (Fear the Walking Dead), Herbert Nordrum (The Worst Person in the World), and Bodhi Rae Breathnach (So Awkward Academy) have joined the cast. Balfe will play Mrs. Dashwood, Elinor and Marianne's mother; MacKay will play Edward Ferrars, Elinor's love interest; Shaw will play Mrs. Jennings, the woman whom the sisters stay with in London; Dillane will play John Willoughby, Marianne's first love interest; Nordrum will play Colonel Brandon; Marianne's other love interest; and Rae Breathnach will play Margaret, Elinor and Marianne's younger sister. The Sense and Sensibility remake will be brought to you by Focus Features and Working Title Films. Rute Cardoso, the wife of Diogo Jota, has paid tribute to her late husband, marking a month since the couple got married. Liverpool and Portugal star Jota died in a car crash in Spain on July 3 at the age of 28 along with his 25-year-old brother André Silva – who was also a professional footballer.
