Every time we get to learn new information and new things from this programme of the Prime Minister... This is a programme in which there is a lot to learn... I am very grateful to the Prime Minister for this programme because through this, the entire public gets a treasure of knowledge.'
PM Modi, in his 122nd address, highlighted the valour of the armed forces during Operation Sindoor, saying that the whole country is united against terrorism and filled with anger and resolve. He further mentioned the developmental steps in Maoist areas like Chhattisgarh's Bastar and Maharashtra's Gadchiroli areas.
He further noted the success of the the Khelo India event organised in Bihar. 'Recently Khelo India Games were a big hit. Five cities of Bihar hosted the Khelo India games. Matches of different categories were held there. Over 5000 athletes from all over India arrived in the state. These athletes have praised the sporting spirit and the warmth shown by the people of Bihar.'
Highlighting self-employment, the Prime Minister in his monthly address also highlighted the country's success in honey production. He said that May 20 was celebrated as 'World Bee Day', a day which reminds us that honey is not just sweetness. 'It is also an example of health, self-employment and self-reliance. During the last 11 years, a sweet revolution has taken place in beekeeping in India. 10-11 years ago, honey production in India was around 70-75 thousand metric tonnes in a year.'
'Today it has increased to around 1.25 lakh metric tonnes. That is, there has been an increase of about 60% in honey production. We have become one of the leading countries in the world in honey production and export. Friends, National Beekeeping and 'Honey Mission' have a big role in this positive impact. Under this, thousands of farmers associated with beekeeping were imparted training, equipment and direct access to the market was created,' PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister spoke about the efforts of a Pune-based youth Amit who taught himself about bees and gradually formed a team of like minded people, which he named Bee Friends, i.e., 'Bee Mitra'. 'Now these Bee Friends transfer beehives from one place to another in a safe manner so that people are not in danger and the honeybees also stay alive. The effect of this endeavour of Amit ji has also been great. Honeybee colonies are being saved. Honey production is increasing, and most importantly, awareness is also rising among people. This initiative teaches us that when we work in harmony with nature, everyone benefits from it,' he said.
Highlighting the bravery of the armed forces during Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the operation has instilled a renewed sense of confidence and determination in the global fight against terrorism.
PM Modi said that the country's soldiers had destroyed terror bases and it was their indomitable courage, along with the power of weapons, equipment and technology made in India. He noted that after this campaign, a renewed energy was visible in the whole country regarding 'Vocal for Local'.
Some families have taken a pledge, 'We will spend our next vacation in some beautiful place in the country.' Many youngsters have pledged to 'Wed in India'; Someone also said, 'Now every gift we give will be made by an Indian artisan,' PM said.
PM Modi applauded the efforts of the ITBP team for successfully scaling Mount Makalu and commended them for their environmental initiative in cleaning the area by removing over 150 kilograms of waste.
The Prime Minister also spoke on the the introduction of 'sugar boards' in schools as an innovative initiative to raise awareness among children about their sugar consumption and promote healthier dietary habits.
Speaking on the recent success of Khelo India, PM Modi stated that five cities in Bihar had the honour of hosting the events, where matches across various categories were organised.
Prime Minister Modi in the 122nd episode of Mann Ki Baat said that 'Along with 'Yoga Day', there has been a significant development in the field of Ayurveda. On May 24, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.'
Along with this agreement, work has started on a dedicated traditional medicine module under the International Classification of Health Interventions. This initiative will help in making AYUSH reach a maximum number of people across the world scientifically...' he said.
PM Modi also highlighted the growing role of women in agriculture and technology, stating, 'Women in villages are now flying drones as 'Drone Didis', bringing about a new revolution in agriculture.'
He cited the example of the Sangareddy district of Telangana where women are completing the work of spraying pesticides on 50 acres of land with the help of drones. He said now these women are not known as 'drone operators' but as 'sky warriors.'
PM Modi said in his address that basic facilities have started reaching Maoist violence-affected areas as well. 'People of Katejhari village of the Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra had been waiting for this day for years. A bus could never run here before. Why? It's because this village was affected by Maoist violence. And when the bus reached the village for the first time, people welcomed it by playing the Dhol-Nagara,' PM said. (ANI)

All-party parliamentary delegation led by Shashi Tharoor wraps up U.S. visit

A multi-party parliamentary delegation wrapped up its visit to the U.S. after meeting with Vice President J.D. Vance and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau among political and diplomatic leaders, to drive home India's strong resolve to combat terrorism emanating from Pakistan. The delegation, led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, was on the last leg of a multi-nation tour to brief key interlocutors about Operation Sindoor that India launched in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. The delegation was one of the seven multi-party delegations India had tasked to visit 33 global capitals to reach out to the international community to emphasise Pakistan's links to terrorism. The group arrived in the U.S. capital on June 3 and over the course of three days held a wide array of meetings on Capitol Hill as well as in Washington, briefing American government officials as well as lawmakers about India's stance on cross-border terrorism. The Indian team met Vice President Vance, Mr. Landau, House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) leadership, India Caucus leadership and Senate Foreign Relations Committee leaders. It also held meetings and interactions with a host of U.S. Congressmen, think tanks, policy experts, media as well as members of the Indian-American community. Mr. Tharoor described the meeting with Mr. Vance at the White House for about 25 minutes on Thursday (June 5, 2025) as 'an excellent meeting,' and said the Vice President was 'warm and welcoming and receptive.' 'Mr. Vance expressed complete understanding, first of all, outrage of what happened in Pahalgam and support and respect for India's restrained response in Operation Sindoor,' Mr. Tharoor told PTI after that meeting. After the delegation met Mr. Landau on Friday (June 6, 2025), a statement by State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that the Deputy Secretary of State 'reaffirmed the United States' strong support of India in the fight against terrorism and the strategic partnership between the two countries.' 'We discussed the U.S.-India strategic relationship, including expanding trade and commercial ties to foster growth and prosperity for both countries,' Mr. Landau said. The Indian Embassy said in a statement that during the meeting with Mr. Landau, the delegation briefed him on the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, discussed India's subsequent Operation Sindoor, and put forth India's firm resolve to counter cross-border terrorism in all its forms. In a post on X on Sunday (June 8, 2025), Mr. Tharoor wrote in Hindi, "On behalf of all the members, I express my gratitude to the motherland and the lovers of India in the country and abroad who listened with open ears and accepted with open heart that we are lovers of non-violence but only until someone... Jai Hind". — Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) June 8, 2025 On the last day of the delegation's scheduled meetings, the delegation paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue opposite the Indian Embassy here. 'It is striking how many world capitals are adorned with statues or busts of the Mahatma, the 20th century's greatest apostle of peace, nonviolence, and human freedom,' Mr. Tharoor posted on X afterwards. The team, which had arrived from India in New York on May 24, had travelled to Guyana, Panama, Colombia and Brazil before arriving in Washington for the last leg of the tour. The other members of the delegation were Sarfaraz Ahmad (JMM), Ganti Harish Madhur Balayogi (TDP), Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP), Bhubaneswar Kalita (BJP), Milind Deora (Shiv Sena), Tejasvi Surya (BJP) and India's former Ambassador to the U.S. Taranjit Sandhu. Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the Pahalgam terror attack, with India carrying out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. The on-ground hostilities from Indian and Pakistan sides that lasted for four days ended with an understanding of stopping the military actions following talks between the directors general of military operations of both sides on May 10.

Canada Has Invited PM Modi For G7 Summit, But India Must Remain Cautiously Optimistic

Last Updated: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's invitation for PM Narendra Modi shows that even Canada realises that India can't be ignored Canada's invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the G7 Summit next week has stunned not only the Congress, but also the Khalistani groups who have been running rampant in Canada. The former has been humbled after questioning PM Modi's potential absence, while the latter have begun protests. PM Modi will be in Canada after a decade. His last visit was in 2015 as part of a three-nation tour. Since 2024, besides Pakistan, India's diplomatic ties hit rock bottom with only one other country — Canada. Accusatory barbs were exchanged and diplomats were withdrawn. In such a scenario, Modi's visit to Canada seemed improbable. This is why the invite from new Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney assumes significance. It shows that even Canada realises, albeit under a new administration, that India can't be ignored. judge Canada based on its actions. Certainly, the tempers have cooled and the winds are shifting since the departure of former PM Justin Trudeau. Both sides are ready to discuss 'security cooperation". But India would be wise to avoid a full reset. Not until Canada ensures decisive action – arrests, clampdowns, and real-time intelligence cooperation — against the anti-India Khalistani groups operating from Canadian soil. Carney has so far made encouraging remarks, prompting hopes of a bilateral meeting between him and Modi on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. Carney has avoided mentioning Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, only referencing 'earlier strains in the relationship" and suggesting 'they can be addressed with mutual respect". When asked how he would justify the decision to invite Modi while some in Canada question it in light of the ongoing legal proceedings, Carney was clear: 'We are a country of the rule of law, and the rule of law is proceeding as it should…and I am not going to disrupt that process of law." Glad to receive a call from Prime Minister @MarkJCarney of Canada. Congratulated him on his recent election victory and thanked him for the invitation to the G7 Summit in Kananaskis later this month. As vibrant democracies bound by deep people-to-people ties, India and Canada…— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) June 6, 2025 MONEY MATTERS Carney has publicly stated that India's emergence among the five biggest economies in the world, with a key role in the supply chains, is why the 'invite to PM Modi makes sense". Canada's Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre went on to add: ' India has been at the last six G7 conferences. It is one of the biggest and fastest growing economies. We need to sell our natural gas and civilian nuclear power technology to India. We need to work with India on trade and security. The invite is necessary." Canada realises that ignoring India any further could be catastrophic for its economy in the future. For India, the key is a dialogue between their law enforcement agencies, given the turbulence in India-Canada ties over the past year. Under Trudeau, Canada went so far as to directly accuse Indian agents and top Indian leaders of masterminding Nijjar's killing without providing any proof. This created an atmosphere of zero trust, leading to India's expulsion of Canadian diplomats and suspension of visa services. India also recalled its ambassador. With Trudeau's departure, India hopes Carney is pragmatic and realises that maintaining good relations and harbouring anti-India groups cannot go hand in hand. INDIA'S CONCERNS Indian diplomats in Canada remain under serious threat from Khalistani groups, against whom Canada does not act, citing 'their freedom of speech". Khalistani extremists openly brandish swords and daggers on Canadian streets and threaten India's top leaders. Their chief sympathiser political party, the NDP and its leader Jagmeet Singh, suffered a crushing defeat in the recent Canadian elections, winning only seven of the 343 seats, with Singh losing his seat. This was apparently a significant blow to the Khalistani factor in Canada. But now, the Carney government needs to walk the talk. Carney's approach to India is a clear departure from Trudeau's. He said the Canada-India relationship was 'incredibly important". But he needs to act against these anti-India groups and their finances, to earn India's trust. India must not forget the events of the past year, and judge Carney not just by his words, but his actions. Modi's G7 engagements since 2019 demonstrate India's deepening global footprint and the trust placed in the PM's global leadership. India must leverage this to ensure Canada falls in line and is no longer a haven for anti-India extremists. The G7 Summit will be Carney's first test on this count.
