'I travelled across the ocean to meet you': Zoe Tay reunites with Hong Kong veteran actor Damian Lau after a decade, Entertainment News

AsiaOne24-05-2025
Veteran local actress Zoe Tay met veteran Hong Kong actor Damian Lau during her recent visit to China, a decade after they last worked together in local drama The Dream Makers II (2015).
In an Instagram post on last Tuesday (May 20), the 57-year-old actress shared three photos she had taken with him, writing: "I travelled across the ocean to meet you. After 10 years, Damian is still as energetic as ever.
"I am so happy to see you again. We talked about so many topics. Thank you for sharing your philosophy of life."
Damian, 75, who is known for playing roles including Emperor Kangxi in Chinese drama Scarlet Heart (2011), was rumoured to have suffered a stroke and in ill health in recent years after he was seen using a walking stick in 2020.
He told the media last year, while promoting a musical he starred in, that he saw "no need to refute or clarify these unsubstantiated reports" and announced his retirement from the entertainment industry in April after the final show.
Zoe told Lianhe Zaobao in a report published yesterday (May 23) that she had made a trip to Hong Kong specially to visit Damian during her vacation in China this time round.
She shared that while they hadn't seen each other for a decade, they maintained contact over the years.
"Damian is in good shape and is living happily. He told me that this is the best time of his life. He is very healthy and lives a carefree life," she said, adding that they chatted at a restaurant for more than two hours on topics about life, philosophy of life and acting.
Zoe also shared that Damian had launched a not-for-sale photograph book Damian's Rendezvous earlier this year — his first book — and sent a copy to Singapore for her as he thought they wouldn't have a chance to meet again in the future.
As Damian had already retired from showbusiness, the chances of them performing together are slim.
Zoe said: "Of course I would like to work with him again, but he is not acting anymore. I am very honoured to be able to perform together with him in The Dream Makers II. He is a very experienced actor, and I really learnt a lot from him." View this post on Instagram

Diddy's Twin Daughters Get in Trouble Moments Before Rollercoaster Ride

Sean 'Diddy' Combs' twin daughters, Jessie James and D'Lila Star, got themselves into a little trouble, reportedly moments before they were getting ready for a rollercoaster ride. The twins, 18, were reportedly kicked off the ride by a worker at the Orange County Fair in Southern California on Saturday (August 18) due to their rude behaviour. Footage of the incident showed the twins sitting on the ride and waiting for it to take off when a fair worker approached them. Jessie James and D'Lila Star were with their friends when the work spoke to them. Shortly, the twins get off the ride, and the rollercoaster takes off. The twins were at the park at around 9:00 pm on Saturday night. A source told TMZ that the twins were asked to put their phones away before the ride. The staff told them to put their phones away three times, but they did not listen. However, another source said the conductor was being rude when the twins were asked to put their phones away. Meanwhile, sources with direct knowledge about the incident said Jessie and D'Lila were not kicked out of the fair. They were given tickets for another ride at a later time, reported TMZ. Diddy's daughters graduated from high school in May and shared photos of their diplomas on Instagram. Two months later, they launched their new clothing line, 12TWINTY1. They announced the launch in an Instagram post, sharing that it is not a fashion brand, it is their story, their bond, and their roots. Here is their complete statement about the new launch: 12TWINTY1 IS FINALLY HERE!!! We've been waiting our entire lives for this moment, and it's surreal to finally share it with you. This isn't just a brand. It's our story. Our bond. Our roots. @12twinty1 was created with purpose, built from who we are, not just what we wear. The name reflects our birthday, December 21st, but it means so much more: 1 is bold, fearless, and marks the beginning of something powerful. 2 speaks to love, connection, and harmony, the essence of our twinhood. We've spent so much time pouring our hearts into creating a brand that speaks to everyone. It's more than fashion, it's about identity, confidence, and being seen. This is just the beginning. Stay tuned. We cannot wait to grow this with you. Diddy is currently in prison waiting for his sentencing after he was found guilty of two counts of transportation for engaging in prostitution during a nine-week trial in New York. He faces up to 20 years behind bars, but prosecutors say he could be released sooner since he did not have any previous criminal record.

Black Myth: Wukong to get sequel featuring ghost-hunting deity Zhong Kui, Digital News

Chinese mythology may just be taking the gaming world by storm once again as the developers behind the record-breaking hit game Black Myth: Wukong have announced their next game at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 on Wednesday (Aug 20). Titled Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the new game by Chinese game studio Game Science was teased at the gaming convention in Cologne, Germany exactly a year after their previous game, Black Myth: Wukong was released to much acclaim. Little is known about the game at present, but it is expected that the titular character, Zhong Kui, will be taking the stage as the playable character, according to Gamescom host Geoff Keighley. The game is still in early development, he added. A video of the less than two-minute trailer has so far racked up over nine million clicks on Bilibili, a Chinese online video sharing website. An FAQ section on the studio's website also states: 'There's hardly any game footage we could share. To keep all hands focused on development, we decided to deliver a CG (computer graphics) short to let everyone know that a new project has kicked off.' Geoff also described Zhong Kui as a "ghost-catching god who wanders between hell and Earth" - in the almost two-minute trailer, he is pictured with glowing eyes as he sits atop a large tiger. Those familiar with his lore may also know the deity Zhong Kui as the "divine thundering exorcist and slayer of demons, king of bringing luck and prosperity (transliteration)", also known for the fierce look, dark skin and beard he constantly sports. There is no release date for Black Myth: Zhong Kui at present, but it is expected to be available on PC and all mainstream platforms, the studio also shared. Gamescom Cologne also saw announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, World of Warcraft Midnight and Resident Evil Requiem among other games. The event will continue through till Aug 24. khooyihang@
