Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce show off power couple status on 'New Heights' podcast
The Grammy-winning pop superstar and NFL player, who've generated headlines and fan fervor with their high-profile romance, peeled back the curtain on their relationship during Swift's appearance on Kelce's "New Heights" podcast, which dropped on Wednesday, Aug. 13, after the couple teased the interview earlier this week.
"This podcast got me a boyfriend, ever since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app about two years ago," said Swift, referring to Kelce's comments about not meeting the singer after her Eras Tour show at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
The sentimental collaboration comes after Kelce gushed about his "Love Story" with Swift in a September cover story for GQ magazine, in which he affectionately compared Swift to his mother, Donna Kelce, and described the emotional dynamics of their celebrity relationship.
"When there is not a camera on us, we're just two people that are in love," Kelce told the magazine. "It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out, but I would say that it's as normal of. … It happened very organically, even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked."

However, Swift and Kelce's podcast PDA wasn't all play.
The couple's joint interview is part of the rollout for Swift's upcoming 12th album, "The Life of a Showgirl." A release date has not been announced, but eager Swifties can preorder the album on Swift's official website.
Swift started teasing the new project in April 2024 when she debuted "The Tortured Poets Department" at her Paris concert. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that her show countdown turned orange before the opening sequence, and her "Karma" door at the close of the show was orange. She also debuted a fiery bodysuit seen on the first page of her official Eras Tour book next to a letter that read: "See you next era..."

Orange appears to be a significant color for the next Swift era. Ahead of the "New Heights" interview, the podcast shared a teaser photo of Kelce and brother Jason Kelce, against a glittery orange background, next to a silhouette of Swift. The color is the same background seen in a letter Swift addressed to fans in May, announcing the ownership of her masters.

Gisele Bundchen Was ‘Furious' With Ex Tom Brady For Taking a Shot at Her In Remarks About Parenting
Tom Brady's potshots at ex-wife Gisele Bündchen on social media are about to boomerang back in his face, sources tell the National Enquirer — because she's infuriated by his petty behavior and ready to hit back hard if he doesn't cut out the catty remarks. 'People have warned him that Gisele won't stand for it, but Tom's been sitting back and holding his tongue for too long and he can't do it anymore,' says an insider. Sources share the now-retired NFL quarterback hit a nerve with Gisele when he commented online that he was a better parent for sticking with the game so long. Tom said according to TMZ, he was 'doing the best possible thing for my family and my kids, by prioritizing my profession and teaching, by example, what it takes to be really good at your job, what it takes to follow through on commitments, what it takes to be a great teammate, and showing them, also by example, that work is a big part of all of our lives.' As readers know, Gisele was fed up with Tom prioritizing career over family and left him. They're now divorced, and the supermodel recently welcomed baby boy River with beau Joaquim Valente. Meanwhile, Gisele and Tom continue to coparent but have different philosophies on how to do it. 'Tom has a different take on parenting than Gisele and he's merely sticking up for himself. At least, that's the way he sees it,' says the insider. 'The more he reflects on it, the more cross he is about how she treated him during the marriage and how she complained about him pursuing his passion. He just had to say something. 'Word from Gisele's camp is that she's furious and thinks he's acting bitter and being a nuisance. Since they split, all she wanted was to do her thing privately — but now here's Tom needlessly stoking the fire with these statements.' 'Tom's pals are saying he should quit making these thinly veiled comments — or at least he should tread more carefully!'

Will Taylor Swift Play Super Bowl 2026? Her Fans Have a Theory
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. This week, Taylor Swift announced her highly anticipated 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, during an appearance on New Heights, the podcast co-hosted by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Now, Swift's excited fans have a theory that she left an Easter egg in the episode. Swifties believe the singer has left a trail of clues suggesting that she is performing as the halftime entertainer at the upcoming Super Bowl. Newsweek has contacted a representative for Swift for comment via email outside regular working hours. Why It Matters The Life of a Showgirl marks Swift's first album release since her record-breaking Eras Tour—the highest-grossing tour in history—wrapped in December. Earlier this year, Swift bought back the rights to the master recordings of her first six albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation. "You belong with me," she wrote on social media on May 30 alongside a photo of herself surrounded by her albums—a reference to her 2008 song by the same name from her sophomore album. The Life of a Showgirl is Swift's 12th record and the fifth one she has released in the past five years, following Folklore (2020), Evermore (2020), Midnights (2022) and The Tortured Poets Department (2024). Taylor Swift cheers from a suite as the Kansas City Chiefs play the Chicago Bears at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri on September 24, 2023. Taylor Swift cheers from a suite as the Kansas City Chiefs play the Chicago Bears at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri on September 24, To Know Swift's fans have been buzzing with excitement and theories following the pop superstar's announcement earlier this week, but one theory in particular is gaining ground with her fan base. During the two-hour-long podcast, which has been viewed more than 16 million times on YouTube, Swift discussed her hobbies outside making music, which include baking sourdough bread. She said, "I'm really talking about bread 60 percent of the time now." While this may seem like an innocuous comment, in the Taylor Swift fandom nothing is ever treated as such. In an Instagram reel from Grind City Media, Jessica Benson, a reporter who covers pop culture and sport, said, "I think Taylor Swift is going to be the Super Bowl halftime show performer." "I don't think Taylor Swift is actually baking sourdough bread. I think it was an Easter egg," Benson said. The Super Bowl LX is scheduled to take place at Levi's Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers, and Benson noted that the 49ers' mascot is Sourdough Sam. The Grind City Media reel has been viewed more than 7 million times. The account @swiftiesforeternity also promoted the theory, writing in the text overlay of an Instagram post: "Taylor's 47th show was at Levi's Stadium. That's where super bowl 60 is... which is the 49ers stadium... and their mascot? 'SOURDOUGH SAM,' Taylor said she talks about sourdough 60 percent of the time, and kept saying 47 in the podcast." Swift is known for leaving a trail of clues for her fans that hint to upcoming albums, song lyrics or other key events for the singer. "I want Easter eggs to be a certain thing where if you are part of the fandom and you want to experience music in a normal way, then you don't even see these," she said during the New Heights episode, adding, "But if you want to look at that then it's there." For those searching for potential Super Bowl-themed Easter eggs, the podcast itself may be one. Some Taylor Swift fans were a little dismayed by the superstar choosing to announce her new album on a sports podcast, but if she is hinting at a Super Bowl performance, it could all be part of a bigger picture. It wouldn't be the first time that an appearance of Swift's has been an Easter egg. During the podcast, she referenced what she described as one of her favorite Easter eggs: the commencement speech she gave when she received an honorary doctorate from New York University in 2022. "I put so many lyrical Easter eggs in that speech that when the Midnights album came out after that, the fans were like, 'The whole speech was an Easter egg,'" Swift said on the podcast. Fans on social media have also noted that a silver football and a silver microphone were sitting behind Swift during her podcast appearance and that the singer made multiple references to the number 47 during the episode. Fans believe this is an Easter egg because her 47th show of the Eras Tour was at Levi's Stadium. It is important to note that Swift's fans regularly theorize about the singer's next move, and their theories often fall short, a phenomenon known in the fandom as "clowning." The theories about Swift being a halftime performer are all speculative and fan-driven. There has been no confirmation from the signer or the NFL that she will perform at the Super Bowl. What People Are Saying Taylor Swift said on the New Heights podcast: "As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast, and um, I think we all know that if there's one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens, it's more of me." X user @chartstswift wrote in a post viewed more than 1.4 million times: "Taylor Swift could be hinting at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show: On 'New Heights,' Taylor said she has watched every Super Bowl halftime show, thinks about sourdough '60 percent of the time,' and mentioned the number 47 several times. Coincidentally, or not, Sourdough is the San Francisco 49ers' mascot. The 49ers will host the 60th Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium—which also happened to be the 47th stop on the Eras Tour. And, of course, 2026 will be Travis Kelce's 13th NFL season." What Happens Next Super Bowl LX is scheduled for February 8, 2026, in Santa Clara, California. The halftime performer is often announced in the early portion of the regular NFL season, around September.

Get a signed book from the first box of Big Shield
It's out in only three days. And it's been a long road. I started writing Big Shield three years ago. Like the 10 or so other novels I've hunt-and-pecked to completion in the past five years, I started it, finished it, set it aside, and started on the next one. Eventually, we tried to find a home for Big Shield with one of the major book publishers. One in particular suggested a fairly important change. The three-storyline book had two that worked, and one that didn't quite fit. So I sawed off the third leg of the stool and built a new one. The end result was that a collateral figure — the bumbling mobster named Johnny Motts — became a central character. He's now arguably the main character in the story. (For a taste of his exploits and his mindset, here's a free chapter that was previously posted.) Unfortunately (or maybe, in time, fortunately), the change wasn't enough to get the publisher to bite. The common response went something like this: 'We love it, but sports novels don't sell.' Well, this one has been selling. The pre-orders have surprised me (in the good way). I'm grateful for that; it validates what I've been trying to do for the past five years, and it helps me prove wrong those who weren't willing to roll the dice on an objectively entertaining tale of gambling, pro football (NOT the NFL), and the mob. I'm still waiting to see what the NFL will think about this one. At one level, they'll hate it. (For multiple reasons.) At another level, they should appreciate the fact that it will make players think twice about taking a bag of cash in exchange for inside information. (At the Jerry Jones level, they should like that the book promotes the pro football product, at no cost to the NFL.) My guess is that they'll try to ignore it. If you keep buying it at the rate you have been, they won't be able to. At 99 cents for the ebook, it's priced to sell. And if you buy it and read it and truly don't like it, I'll send you a dollar. (I'll determine in my own discretion whether you read the book, whether your answers to specific questions aimed at figuring out whether you read the book were written by you or ChatGPT, and whether at the end of the day you truly didn't like the book or whether you're just looking for a free dollar.) Meanwhile, here's your chance to get a signed copy from the first box of hard copies, which is due to arrive on Friday, August 22. I'll drop your copy in the mail on Saturday, August 26 — along with the other three from prior weekend contests. Send an email to florio@ with this subject line: 'Big Shield 8/16/25 Giveaway.' Include your address and preferred inscription to make it easier for me to get it ready next weekend. No purchase is necessary. But any (and every) purchase via pre-order will be appreciated.
