‘Chinnari Arogyam' launched for Child Health in East Godavari
Speaking on the occasion, the minister lauded the launch of the 'Chinnari Arogyam' programme as a commendable initiative aimed at ensuring the complete health of children who are not developing properly due to financial difficulties, lack of awareness among parents regarding nutrition, and malnutrition. He stated that this programme, the first of its kind in the state, should serve as a model for the entire state.
He emphasised the need for officials to undertake programmes that raise public awareness about healthcare. He informed that efforts are underway to ensure the complete health of approximately 74,238 children aged between 6 months and 6 years in the East Godavari district.
He further said that 1,438 children are suffering from various health issues and that the 'Chinnari Arogyam' programme has been initiated to create awareness among parents about their children's health and nutritional needs.
The minister appreciated the program's objective of providing a special nutritious food kit to the children every month. District collector P Prasanthi stated that the 'Chinnari Arogyam' programme is an evolved version of the previously successful 'Bangaru Konda' programme implemented in the district, with the aim of implementing it more effectively.
During the ceremony, the outgoing District Women and Child Welfare Officer, K Vijaya Kumari, who is retiring at the end of this month was felicitated. Additionally, a traditional Seemantham (baby shower) ceremony was conducted for pregnant women, and a graduation ceremony was held for young children.
Joint collector S Chinna Ramudu highlighted that young children are falling prey to various health problems due to hereditary diseases and malnutrition. He urged the public to utilise the nutritious food provided at government Anganwadi centres and avail the health services offered at government hospitals.
GAIL representatives Deputy General Manager (HR) Deevi Prabhakar, DGM K Rajan, Amravati Solutions' Anil Kumar, DMHO K Venkateswara Rao, Deputy DMHO N Vasundhara,RMC, and ICDS staff were present.

Overhauling of BC hostels taken up to enhance standards: Minister S Savitha
VIJAYAWADA: The State government is undertaking a comprehensive overhaul of Backwards Classes (BC) hostels to provide students with education, health, and safety standards on par with corporate institutions. A new 100-mark grading system has been implemented to assess hostels based on student attendance, academic performance, cleanliness, and other parameters. Wardens of high-performing hostels will be given priority in transfers and promotions. In a press release, BC Welfare Minister S Savitha S Savithastated that under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the government has prioritised hostel development. As part of this initiative, SR Shankaran Resource Centres have been established in 104 hostels, and Rs 76.38 crore in pending diet charges from the previous administration have been cleared. To improve infrastructure, Rs 13.10 crore has been allocated for hostel repairs, while over Rs 20 crore has been mobilised through District Mineral Foundation (DMF), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions, and other sources.

India hosts artificial limbs camp in Guayana to support people with disabilities
Georgetown: Reaffirming Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to supporting persons with disabilities in the Caribbean, the Indian government has delivered on the pledge to provide artificial limbs in the region. The Indian Company Kalpataru Projects International Limited, in collaboration with Guyana's Ministry of Health and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, on Monday (local time) launched an Artificial Limb Donation and Fitment Camp at the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre in the Guyanese capital, Georgetown. The initiative, backed by the Indian High Commission in Georgetown, stands as a testament to India-Guyana friendship and people-centric diplomacy in the Caribbean region. "A promise kept, a commitment fulfilled. During the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit, PM Narendra Modi had announced that India will collaborate with CARICOM in providing artificial limbs to persons with disabilities in the Caribbean region as a mark of our friendship and people-centric diplomacy," the Indian High Commission in Georgetown posted on X. "It was a new dawn, a new beginning and a new chapter in India-CARICOM partnership," the post added. According to Guyana's Health Ministry, the project, organised in partnership with India-based Jaipur Foot and the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Seva Samiti, marks a significant step in providing life-changing prosthetic limbs to Guyanese citizens in need. Addressing the event, Guyanese Minister of Health Frank Anthony expressed gratitude to the Indian Government and Jaipur Foot for their swift collaboration in making this initiative possible. "This partnership is transformational. Prosthetic limbs do not only restore mobility, they restore independence, dignity, and opportunity," he said. "For many Guyanese who have lost limbs due to accidents or illnesses such as diabetes, access to affordable prostheses has been out of reach. Through this programme, we are eliminating barriers and giving people a second chance at life," the Minister added. Among the officials present were Amit Talang, High Commissioner of India to Guyana; Gail Miller-Garnett, High Commissioner of Belize to Guyana; Serena Bender-Peltzwick, Deputy Programme Manager for Health Sector Development at CARICOM, and other dignitaries. In November 2024, during the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown, PM Modi offered assistance to CARICOM countries in seven key areas, including capacity building, agriculture and food security, renewable energy and climate change, innovation, technology and trade, cricket and culture, ocean economy and maritime security, medicine and healthcare.
