LSU football has best defensive line recruiting class in college football
This is the best defensive line crop in college football. There were questions about LSU's defensive line recruiting after DL coach Bo Davis left for the NFL and was replaced by former LSU defensive tackle Kyle Williams.
Williams coached high school football, but this was his first college gig. Recruiting at the highest level of college football doesn't always come natural -- and you never know how a recruiter will fare until he's in the role. That worried some with this class of Louisiana defensive linemen. LSU couldn't afford to have a down recruiting year at defensive line with all the in-state talent.
So far, Williams is passing the test with flying colors.
Lamar Brown is the headliner. Per ESPN, he's the No. 1 overall recruit in the country. For much of Brown's recruitment, recruiting services projected him as an offensive lineman. But over the last year, Brown made it clear that defensive line was his home at the next level. LSU didn't travel far to land Brown with the five-star playing high school football in Baton Rouge.
LSU didn't go far to find Richard Anderson, either. Anderson, Rivals' No. 2-ranked defensive tackle in the class, attends New Orleans powerhouse Edna Karr. He committed to LSU in June of 2024 and has held firm.
There's a good chance Brown and Anderson both finish the cycle as five-star recruits ready to make an immediate impact as true freshmen in 2026.
Geralds, the most recent commit, is the No. 93 overall recruit in the class per the Rivals' Industry Rankings. With Gerlads, Anderson, and Brown, LSU has three defensive tackles ranked inside the top 100.
The fourth defensive tackle commit is Darryus McKinley. Another Louisiana native and the little brother of current LSU defensive tackle Dominick McKinley.
Last offseason, LSU's defensive tackle position was in a rough spot. LSU was looking for scraps in the transfer portal as it lacked talent and depth. Now, the outlook is much brighter. Dominick McKinley and Ahmad Breaux just excelled as true freshmen in 2024 and now there's more talent on the way.

Texas A&M's 2025 schedule is considered one of the toughest slates in the SEC, as the Aggies will face LSU, Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas on the road, while their Week 3 rematch vs. Notre Dame in South Bend could define the program's season. For second-year head coach Mike Elko, last season's late-season failures on the road with consecutive losses at South Carolina and Auburn were too similar to the previous regime under Jimbo Fisher. On Wednesday, A&M's schedule was recognized as one of the toughest nationally, according to USA TODAY writer Jordan Mendoza, who released his top 10 most demanding college football schedules based on the recent US LBM preseason top 25 rankings. Texas A&M is No. 21 in the rankings, which was expected given the lack of national confidence in starting quarterback Marcel Reed. At the same time, the rest of the 2025 roster, including 14 transfer additions, is deep and talented enough to win nine or ten games, despite the schedule. While Florida's schedule is considered the toughest in the country, coming in at No. 1, Texas A&M's schedule is ranked 7th, primarily due to the road games I listed above. "The No. 21 ranked team in the preseason poll will be fighting all season to make sure it stays in the Top 25. The Aggies have a highly anticipated non-conference matchup on Sept. 13 at No. 5 Notre Dame. From there, there's four other ranked matchup sprinkled throughout the rest of the season, with No. 17 Florida visiting on Oct. 11 and a trip to face No. 9 LSU on Oct. 25. No. 13 South Carolina comes into town Nov. 15, and the season ends with the first trip to Austin since 2010 to play No. 1 Texas." Texas A&M needs to win at least one game between Notre Dame, LSU, and Texas, while defending home field against Florida and South Carolina is crucial to ending the regular season with a chance at reaching the playoff. Yes, Aggie fans would love revenge, especially on the road against Texas after last season's 17-7 loss in Kyle Field, but for that game to truly matter, outside of bragging rights, the path I laid out is the only way forward. Hollywood Brown returns to State Farm Stadium as member of Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs' only former Cardinals player is Hollywood Brown, but he won't likely play in the preseason opener. The Arizona Cardinals will face the Kansas City Chiefs in their preseason opener Saturday night at State Farm Stadium at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. Arizona time). It will be a bit of a homecoming for one former Cardinals player. Chiefs wide receiver Hollywood Brown will be returning to State Farm Stadium since he signed with Kansas City last offseason. Brown played two seasons for the Cardinals. They acquired him in a draft-day trade in 2022. In two seasons, he played in 24 games, missing eight games to different injuries, caught 118 passes for 1,283 yards and scored seven touchdowns. He is the only former Cardinals player on the Chiefs' offseason roster. However, Brown might not get to play. He has been nursing an ankle injury he suffered last week. The Chiefs starters will start the game against the Cardinals starters, but we shouldn't expect to see Brown suit up.
