New Superman film is already in the works, confirms James Gunn; John Cena led Peacemaker to shape the future
Gunn recently talked to THR and answered several questions about what all is transpiring at DC Studios. Talking about Peacemaker, he said, 'So this season plays a big part because Superman leads directly into Peacemaker, and it should be noted that this is for adults, not children. But then this will set up all of the remaining stories in the DCU. There are a lot of guest stars coming up, and a lot of characters are going to show up that people have already seen in Superman. I don't think I have ever loved anything that I have ever done more than this season of Peacemaker, so I am very excited for the people to see it.'

John Cena, who was in full costume for the event, said, 'This season is about furthering the narrative. Instead of standalone properties, all of the DCU is now connected, as you saw Peacemaker show up in Superman. I think what you see in season two is just a forward of that narrative. That whole DCU through line, it takes the 11th Street Kids through their next adventure, but it also has a lot to do with the DCU going forward.' James Gunn was then asked whether there had been any discussions about Batman and Peacemaker sharing screen space, to which he politely replied, 'No.' While the director kept his cards close to his chest, he did offer fans a glimmer of hope regarding the next Superman film.
He said, 'I've already finished the treatment for the next story in what I'll call the Superman Saga. The treatment is done, which means a very, very 'worked out' treatment. I'm working on that and hopefully going into production on that not too far away from today.' This does help give a much clearer picture about the future of DCU, but it still leaves fans confused about whether the current Batman is ever going to show up in this universe. During his appearance on the Happy, Sad and Confused podcast, Gunn talked about the script for the next Batman and said, 'I have the script, and I like it very much. It's all heading in the right direction.' When asked whether Robert Pattinson's Batman was going to be part of the DCU, Gunn said no and nodded along when the host of the podcast said that the DCU Batman is going to be someone else. He also refused to confirm when the DCU Batman was likely to make his first appearance.

James Gunn says work on ‘Superman' sequel is going on in full-swing
Los Angeles: Filmmaker and DC boss James Gunn has shared an update with regards to his sequel of 'Superman'. James has said that he has completed the treatment for his 'Superman' follow-up and that he and his team are currently scheduling production. He also said that his treatment rendered to the superhero is quite intense, reports 'Variety'. He told Collider, 'We're scheduling it now. I'm totally done with the treatment. My treatments are incredibly intense. They're not regular treatments. They're 60-page treatments with dialogue and everything'. He further mentioned, 'And so, now I'm just turning that into a script. We're planning out when we're going to shoot that. It's going to be much sooner rather than later'. As per 'Variety', James Gunn recently revealed across various interviews during his 'Superman' press tour that he is writing a new film featuring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, although he remained vague whether it was a standalone sequel or an entirely new project. Other upcoming projects on the DC slate include 'Peacemaker' Season 2, 'Supergirl', the 'Lanterns' TV series, 'Wonder Woman' and 'Clayface'. James Gunn said during a recent interview with CBS Mornings that all projects under the DC umbrella will have their own unique tone and style, much like the comics they are based on. He said, ''Clayface' is a totally different thing. Although it's in the same universe, it's a complete horror film, and that's one of the things we want to do'. 'There's not a company style. It's not like every movie is gonna be like 'Superman.' The artists and the directors and the writers that create each one will bring their own sense to it. We don't want people being bored', he added.
