The rumors started floating around during the East Conference Finals. Lee was seen attending the finals and having occasional conversations with Anunoby.

The US gymnast was also seen having a conversation with the Knicks star OG Anunoby. Fans of the sport immediately speculated about a possible relationship between the two.
However, in a recent interview, Lee dismissed all of these speculations. The Star athlete spoke to Mirror US.
She said, 'Honestly, it just started off as a joke, and I feel like social media kind of just, like, took it further than that. But yeah, we're just friends.'
She further explained her relationship with the rest of the Knicks' team, 'I'm really good friends with a bunch of the guys on the Knicks team, like [Karl-Anthony Towns], and then also I'm really close to [socialite and Towns' partner Jordyn Woods] as well, so it's cool to see them doing their thing.

Suni Lee's confession came as a heartbreak for the fans of OG Anunoby. Responses started pouring out after the confession went viral. One of the fans, named Leonardo Vazquez, wrote, 'Free OG, hardest friendzone.'
In the same post, Jeremiah Lucolas wrote, 'Damnnnnn😭 you can't be doing that to him mannn. That's CRAZY!'
OG Anunoby celebrated his 28th birthday on July 17. Reflecting on the timing of confession, a basketball-dedicated page on Instagram, Hoops Alert, stated, 'Getting friendzoned on your birthday is nasty work'
Fans did not step back from showing solidarity with the star player.
Tyler, a fan wrote, 'It's okay OG I love you.'
A section of fans even trolled her after the confession. Inike Hoops wrote, 'She's fucking mid at best and for sure doesn't cook or clean. Hahaha'
