Safety commitment and feature expansion
Maruti Suzuki announced its plan to equip all its passenger vehicles with
six airbags
as a standard feature across all variants within the year. Currently, the company offers ten models with six airbags, including the Alto K10, Celerio, WagonR, Eeco, Swift, Dzire, Brezza, Grand Vitara, Jimny and Invicto.
The company also provides Electronic Stability Program+ (ESP) as a standard feature across all variants of its 18 models, a move it states is ahead of current regulatory requirements.
Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, said, 'It gives me immense pride to see Made-in-India high volume mainstream cars achieve exemplary safety ratings under the Bharat New Car Assessment Program. This programme incorporates rigorous and comprehensive testing and evaluation standards that are comparable with global safety protocols. It is aimed at raising safety awareness among customers in the country.'
He added, 'I am also pleased to see that Maruti Suzuki has fast-paced adoption of 6 airbags as standard across all variants of models covering all segments. Six airbags from an entry hatchback to a premium SUV is a significant stride by Maruti Suzuki towards vehicle safety. I am sure this will encourage other manufacturers to make 6 airbags a standard feature across all variants of their models.'
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, 'It is heartening to see Hon'ble Minister's passionate and concerted efforts towards road safety. Bharat NCAP brings to India the stringent vehicle testing protocols that will help customers take informed decisions.'
He further said, 'Maruti Suzuki has a wide portfolio of vehicles equipped with 6 airbags right from entry segment models like Alto K10 and Celerio to hatchbacks like Swift and Baleno, and to premium SUVs like Grand Vitara and Brezza. Within this year, all models across all variants will have 6 airbags as standard. In addition, well ahead of regulatory requirement, all our 18 models are equipped with Electronic Stability Program+ (ESP), the widest portfolio in the industry.'

Auto sector shares jumped sharply on Monday as Sensex and Nifty started the week with a bang after a brief pause due to Independence Day. Both the indices rallied in early trade on Monday, adding over 1% to their previous auto sector stocks rallied sending the market up. Larsen & Toubro slipped 0.57%, ITC fell 0.43%, HCL Technologies declined 0.31%, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries dropped 0.20%, and Infosys edged lower by 0.11%. Early trade clearly showed strong buying in auto and financial stocks, while IT and pharma names dragged at the AUTO STOCKS ARE RISING?TVS Motors, Hero, Eicher, M&M and Maruti are likely to respond positively to the news. Insurance companies are also expected to benefit from the GST revision. S&P 500 upgrading India's sovereign credit rating is another major positive. But the market ignored this announcement since the negative news flows are also strong. India-US trade talks are unlikely to happen before August 27th deadline. The ' Trump Sword' of 50% tariff dangling on India will restrain the market enthusiasm which can be triggered by the positive news mentioned earlier. Indian markets rally as Sensex jumps over 1,100 points, Nifty reclaims 25,000
CHENNAI: Indian stock markets opened the week on a strong note, lifted by two major positives—fresh reform signals from the government and an upgrade in India's sovereign credit rating. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the government will roll out next-generation GST reforms by Diwali 2025, aiming to rationalise tax rates in a meaningful way. Adding to the optimism, S&P Global Ratings upgraded India's sovereign rating from 'BBB-' to 'BBB' with a stable outlook, the first such upgrade in 18 years. The BSE Sensex surged 1,142 points, or 1.42%, to trade at 81,740, while the Nifty50 crossed the 25,000 mark for the first time since July 25, rising 388 points, or 1.58%, to 25,019. Autos and consumer shares led the rally. Hero MotoCorp gained nearly 8%, while Maruti Suzuki and TVS Motor advanced 6% and 5% respectively, pushing the Nifty Auto index higher by over 4%. The Nifty Consumer Durables index also added more than 3%. Financial stocks were another big driver. The Nifty Bank rose 1.18% and the Nifty Financial Services index climbed 1.67%, after S&P also upgraded the ratings of several leading banks and NBFCs, including SBI, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finance, and Tata Capital. Broader markets moved in tandem, with the Nifty MidCap and SmallCap indices gaining around 1% each. On the flip side, IT and pharma stocks were under pressure. Global cues also supported the rally. Reports of easing concerns over oil supplies following recent US–Russia discussions boosted sentiment, particularly for oil-importing economies like India. Overall, investors welcomed the sovereign rating upgrade and the government's reform roadmap, pushing Indian equities higher across sectors.

Sensex soars over 1,000 points, Nifty surges to 24,953 amid proposed GST reforms
India's equity benchmarks jumped more than 1% on Monday, lifted by automakers and consumer firms, after New Delhi proposed tax reforms on goods and services, while financials also surged after S&P upgraded several key constituents. Fifteen of the 16 major sectors advanced, with autos and consumer stocks jumping 3.4% and 1.8%, respectively. The broader small-caps and mid-caps rose about 1% each. Maruti Suzuki gained 6.2%, while Hero MotoCorp surged 7.5% after Reuters reported that New Delhi proposed lowering goods and services taxes on small cars to 18% from 28%, as part of its sweeping tax reforms. The lower rates should boost overall festive demand and fiscal year 2027 earnings outlook and is a positive for Indian markets, said Citi Research. Heavyweight financials gained 1.6%, helped by S&P ratings upgrade on stocks including HDFC Bank and SBI.
