While the Cardinals will have Patrick Peterson announcing their Day 2 picks in the 2025 draft, the Seahawks will have two announcers — Richard Sherman and Shaun Alexander.
Seattle could trade Howell
The Seahawks traded away Geno Smith and signed quarterbacks Sam Darnold and Drew Lock. That leaves Sam Howell in limbo. The Seahawks are open to trading him.

Ohtani Ks 8 and slugs homer for 1,000th hit, but Cardinals rally past Dodgers 5-3
Shohei Ohtani homered for his 1,000th career hit and struck out a season-high eight in four innings on the mound, but the St. Louis Cardinals rallied late to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3 on Wednesday. Jordan Walker had three hits for the Cardinals, including an RBI single off Alex Vesia (2-1) that tied the score with two outs in the eighth. St. Louis took a 4-3 lead on the same play when rookie third baseman Alex Freeland made a costly throwing error while trying to get Walker at second. Lars Nootbaar added a run-scoring double off reliever Brock Stewart in the ninth. Walker was a late addition to the starting lineup. He replaced Willson Contreras, who had a stomach bug. JoJo Romero (4-3) earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief. Riley O'Brien got four outs for his first major league save. Ohtani allowed one run and two hits in his eighth start this season. He struck out the side in the fourth. The two-way superstar didn't pitch in 2024 while rehabbing from elbow surgery, though he helped Los Angeles win the World Series with an MVP season at the plate. Ohtani launched a two-run shot in the third, putting the Dodgers ahead 2-1 with his 39th homer of the year. They added a run in the fourth when Andy Pages stole third and scored on a throwing error by catcher Pedro Pagés. St. Louis cut it to 3-2 in the sixth on an RBI groundout by Nootbaar. Ohtani gave up his first stolen base of the season when Walker swiped second in the third. The Dodgers got the leadoff man aboard in five straight innings, including Ohtani twice. The Cardinals did the same over the last four innings. Cardinals rookie Michael McGreevy (3-2, 5.08 ERA) starts against Matthew Boyd (11-4, 2.34) and the visiting Chicago Cubs on Friday night. Dodgers LHP Clayton Kershaw (5-2, 3.29 ERA) pitches against Toronto RHP Max Scherzer (2-1, 4.39) on Friday in a matchup between members of the 3,000-strikeout club.

Countdown to Kickoff: Jack Endries
This is the addition that gets the Texas fans as excited as any this offseason. Gunnar Helm was a really important piece to the Texas offense a year ago and replacing him with Jack Endries keeps that incredible ability at the TE position. Endries is coming off a year where he was the leading receiver on the Cal Golden Bears. He came over the spring portal window and filled a rather big hole at the TE position. 2024 Stats: 56 catches, 623 yards(11.1 yards/catch), 2 TDs Endries is a player that really resembles Gunnar Helm in his play style and ability. He does most of his damage over the middle of the field, something that Sarkisian loves to use with his TEs. He also is a plus blocker in pass pro and in the run game. He can be a true chess piece in this Texas offense, but the upside is incredible. His athletic ability jumps off the page immediately, and it seems that is showing itself throughout the early parts of camp. He comes into a room where he will be the TE1 without question and will be given opportunity after opportunity in this offense, going into a year where he could make plenty of NFL money. Given Sarkisian's track record with TEs, it's likely Endries will have his best year yet this year. The versatility that Endries can bring to the offense might be even greater than what Helm gave Texas a year ago. He has great hands, can line up just about anywhere and can make plays after the catch. That was a true strength of Gunnar Helm's game, and I think Longhorn fans will see plenty more of that this year. The question is his deep route ability, but it seems much of that is more Cal's offense than anything else. He will get his changes for those seam shots Helm got last year. He opens the year with the second best odds to win the John Mackey Award, in a year where the TE position is incredibly talented. Eli Stowers, RJ Maryland, Max Klare and more will have a footprint on this season, but Endries could very well be the most productive of the bunch. The biggest part of his role this season is the leadership he will provide to a talented, but young room. Jordan Washington, Spencer Shannon, Nick Townsend and more will factor in, but getting guidance from a more experienced player will be huge for their development. It also gives Texas some flexibility at the position, knowing they have a reliable option in their back pocket at all times. Endries and Mosley were the two pass catchers Texas went out and got in the portal and I think they are both perfect fits. They both should be guys that can make big time plays consistently for the Longhorns, including in Week 1 vs. Ohio State. Continuing with the countdown tomorrow, I will jump into the freshman pass catching options for the Horns. NFLPA provides clarity on smelling salts in twist after league's ban
Smelling salts aren't going anywhere. After it was reported Tuesday that the NFL was banning salts ahead of the 2025-26 season, the NFL Players Association offered some additional clarification on the rule change, which will surely please the players. The ban was actually placed only on teams supplying the salts, but players will be allowed to use the salts if they provide them themselves. 'To clarify, this policy does not prohibit player use of these substances, but rather it restricts clubs from providing or supplying them in any form. The FDA's warning included 'the potential to mask certain neurologic signs and symptoms, including some potential signs of concussion.' Smelling salts have long been used across numerous different sports as a stimulant for athletes, raising their awareness. 3 George Kittle expressed disappointment over the initial ban. This includes 49ers tight end George Kittle, who crashed the set of NFL Network's 'Inside Training Camp' on Tuesday when he heard the original news.
