Lip-readers think Caitlin Clark shouted NSFW words at a ref: 'Grow up!'

USA Today2 days ago
It wasn't the happiest of victories for the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night. Sure, they won 85-77 over the floundering Connecticut Sun, but Caitlin Clark got injured again and it didn't look good. Forget about All-Star and the 3-Point Contest she's supposed to be in -- the hope is that she's OK for the Fever.
But it was in that game that Clark appealed angrily to a referee about something. I honestly don't know what it was about, but lip-readers had a field day with a couple of videos. They think she cursed at the official as she was held back: "Are you [expletive] kidding me?"
She also apparently told him to "grow up." And somehow she wasn't given a technical foul. But wow, this got heated. What was it about? We have no idea.
What did Caitlin Clark say to this referee?
In the video above, someone thought it was "That has nothing to do with it. Are you [expletive] kidding me?" and "That's just rude. Grow up! Unbelievable."

Just wild.

Shohei Ohtani has new venture up his sleeve — a children's book

What can't Shohei Ohtani do? Just days after the two-way star's fifth All-Star appearance, Ohtani, 31, announced that he is coming out with a children's book. Ohtani posted to his Instagram on Thursday that he had co-written a children's book about his dog, Decoy. Advertisement The book, titled 'Decoy Saves Opening Day,' is available for preorder and is set to be released in February of next year. According to the book's website from publisher HarperCollins, the story is about Decoy forgetting his lucky baseball when he is set to throw out the first pitch on Opening Day. AP The website also says Ohtani plans to use the profits from the book to help non-profit animal rescue organizations. 'Shohei Ohtani is the biggest name in baseball and a proud sponsor of animal rescue organizations,' the website reads. 'Shohei and Decoy hope to use the publication of 'Decoy Saves Opening Day' to support the work these amazing nonprofits do helping dogs find their forever homes. While their fictional counterparts are saving opening day, Shohei and Decoy are working to help real-life animals in need.' Outside of the book writing, Ohtani is ramping up his full-time pitching comeback for the Dodgers. Getty Images In his final outing before the All-Star break on Saturday, Ohtani threw three scoreless innings in the Dodgers' 2-1 victory over the rival Giants. The three-time MVP allowed just one hit while striking out four in his fifth appearance this season. 'Overall a very efficient outing,' Ohtani told reporters through an interpreter. 'I was glad that I was able to prevent runs and we were able to keep the lead throughout the game.' Advertisement Ohtani, who did not pitch during the 2024 season, also said he felt his command is improving. 'Aside from the stuff, I'm more happy with the command of my pitches and being able to attack the zone,' Ohtani said. 'Today was one of those days where my fastball felt pretty good, so I leaned on it a little bit more today.' At the plate, he leads the National League with 32 home runs and a .988 OPS.

Hear Shane Gillis' Caitlin Clark Joke That Had the ESPYs Audience Uncomfortable

Shane Gillis took the stage at the ESPYs tonight as the show's host, and the comedian made the sports world the butt of his jokes. There were a number of quips aimed at various attendees and major sports figures, and while social media had varying opinions about his barbed humor, the audience didn't seem super receptive. Numerous jokes arrived to tepid, often-uncomfortable laughter, with Gillis repeatedly telling the audience to lighten up. There was perhaps no better example of this dynamic than his joke about the WNBA's Caitlin Clark. While the ESPYs named her WNBA Player of the Year, Gillis decided to include her in his opening monologue. The first joke was relatively tame. "It's a big year for the WNBA. I love Caitlin Clark," he said. "Caitlin Clark, she and I have a lot in common. We're both whites from the midwest who have nailed a bunch of threes."He then winced reading the follow-up from the teleprompter, before saying: "When Caitlin Clark retires from the WNBA, she's going to work at a Waffle House, so she can continue doing what she loves most: fist-fighting Black women." His joke comes just after Clark had a heated confrontation with a referee during a recent Indiana Fever game against the Connecticut Sun. She also received a flagrant foul earlier this season for a much-discussed altercation with Chicago Sky's Angel Reese. Gillis also cracked jokes about Shedeur Sanders, Jeffery Epstein, Donald Trump, and more.
