Welcome to Screen Time! I'm Nora, and if there's one thing you need to know about me, it's that I love watching TV and movies. I also absolutely love being absorbed in fandoms.
This week, it's a little more movie-focused, as I dive into what movies you should watch this weekend, including a documentary from Mariska Hargitay that made me weep. I also share what's all over my FYP — like the Superman cast being my favorite new cast — and what we've got going on over on BuzzFeed Celeb's YouTube channel, plus more. Thanks for joining me!
It's a long weekend here in the US, so here's a super-sized weekend rec list:
28 Years Later — watch for: Jodie Comer being, well, Jodie freakin' Comer
In theaters now
It only took me one (1) of these before I mentioned Jodie Comer. My friends will honestly be shocked that it took me this long. The third installment in this series, Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later follows Spike (Alfie Williams), who has grown up on an island off the coast of northern England, away from the mainland that has been ravaged by the Rage Virus. With his mom, Isla (Jodie Comer), getting sicker, Spike decides to leave his dad (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) behind and take Isla to the mainland in hopes of finding a mysterious doctor (Ralph Fiennes).
If you couldn't tell, you need to see this movie for Jodie. She never misses, in my opinion. Her performance as Isla made me uncontrollably sob more than I'd like to admit, and I just think she brings such raw, human emotion to a character in an extraordinary setting. Also, this is Alfie's very first movie, and he's outstanding. If you're a zombie movie fan, I think this is worth watching, and if you're a Jodie fan, it's a must-watch. Also, it's currently my second favorite 2025 movie behind Sinners.
Jurassic World Rebirth — watch for: Jonathan Bailey in his slutty little glasses
In theaters now
Directed by Gareth Edwards, Jurassic World Rebirth reboots the Jurassic Park series once again, this time with Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, and more. The film follows Zora Bennett (Johansson), who is recruited to collaborate with paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Bailey) and Duncan Kincaid (Ali) to infiltrate a forbidden island that was once used as a dinosaur research facility.
It's a Jurassic Park movie after all, so expect a lot of tense dinosaur moments. However, this movie was kind of lacking for me, and I think Kong: Skull Island did the same plot much better. So, I'm curious what you all think! But, if there's one thing I'm always going to love, it's Jonathan Bailey, so I did enjoy him and his 'slutty little glasses.' And, I just love how much Scarlett loves Jurassic Park, like she used to sleep in a Jurassic Park tent in her bedroom growing up. LIKE, IT'S SO CUTE! So, I want her to be able to make another one of these movies because her love for it is so wholesome.
Ironheart — watch for: Dominique Thorne and a WandaVision theory finally coming true
Streaming on Disney+
It's no secret that a lot of people are feeling some Marvel fatigue, but I am here to tell you that Ironheart is worth binge-watching. Executive produced by Ryan Coogler, the show follows Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), who has returned to Chicago with her iron suit and ends up getting involved with Parker Robbins/Hood (Anthony Ramos) and his crew. Dominique is such a breath of fresh air as Riri, and I love seeing her really own this space in the MCU and create such a flawed hero you want to root for.
The show really dives into grief and the lengths we go to after losing someone close, and I think it's just a great message on top of some amazing superhero moments. Also, the show FINALLY makes a longstanding WandaVision theory a reality, and as someone who has been screaming about [spoiler] since 2021 with my WandaVision Easter eggs posts, I feel vindicated. I feel alive. I WILL need an Ironheart Season 2.
My Mom Jayne — watch for: Mariska Hargitay continuing to be the best of us
Streaming on HBO Max
I wouldn't consider myself a huge documentary person, but I love old Hollywood, so My Mom Jayne was an immediate watch for me. Directed by Mariska Hargitay, the film explores Jayne Mansfield's rapid rise to fame in the 1950s, her relationships, and her sudden death at just 34 years old. A lot of people might not realize that Mariska is Jayne's daughter, so it's a documentary that allows Mariska to really come to terms with who her mom was outside of Hollywood's 'smartest dumb blonde.'
It's just a moving portrait of family and grief, and it even includes Mariska finally revealing that Mickey Hargitay wasn't actually her biological father, a secret she's held onto for 30 years despite it being a much-discussed Hollywood rumor. I sobbed through this movie, especially when Mariska's husband, Peter Hermann, surprises her with Jayne's piano.
These are some of my favorite things from my FYP, feed, and more:
Project Hail Mary released its first trailer this week, and it's easily one of my most anticipated movies of 2026. I just finished the book a few weeks ago, and I highly encourage reading it before the movie. I am so hyped, as is the rest of my timeline:
Based on the book by Andy Weir, Project Hail Mary follows Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a teacher who is suddenly recruited to become an astronaut in order to help save Earth's dying sun. The story unfolds with us seeing how Ryland ended up in space, as he wakes up with amnesia, unsure of what happened to him and how he got to space. You can watch the trailer below:
This week, over on BuzzFeed Celeb, we had the adorable cast of Squid Game Season 3 — Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Park Sung-hoon, Kang Ae-sim, Jo Yu-ri, and Yim Si-wan — play with puppies while answering all of our questions about themselves and the final season of the hit Netflix series. They were so wholesome, the puppies were absolutely chaotic, and it made me love this cast even more. We talked about which scenes they couldn't get through without laughing, what it was like working with T.O.P., the celebs they've been surprised to find out are fans of Squid Game, and so much more.
Also, here's a behind-the-scenes photo of my view from filming that day:
A place where I answer YOUR questions about TV, movies, fandom, and more:
Question: What's your Letterboxd Top Four?
I'd be lying if I said I haven't fantasized about Letterboxd asking me my four favorite films on a red carpet and me pretending like I haven't practiced my answer a million times. So, in the interest of getting to know me a little better, here is my Letterboxd Top Four:
Well, that's all I've got for this week's edition of Screen Time. Come back every week to get more TV and movie recommendations, find out which celebs we're working with, and so much more!

Horror Hit '28 Years Later' New On Streaming This Week, Report Says

Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Alfie Williams in "28 Years Later." Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodi Comer and Ralph Fiennes' hit horror thriller 28 Years Later is reportedly coming to digital streaming this week. The third film in the horror film series that began with 28 Days Later in 2002, 28 Years Later reunites the original film's director, Danny Boyle, and its screenwriter, Alex Garland. The film was released in theaters on June 20. The summary for 28 Years Later reads, 'It's been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. 'When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.' According to When to Stream, 28 Years Later is expected to debut on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Tuesday, July 29. While the streaming tracker is typically accurate with its PVOD reports, When to Stream noted that 28 Years Later Sony Pictures Entertainment has not announced or confirmed the release date and it is subject to change. When it is released, 28 Years Later will be available on several digital platforms, including Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Prime Video and YouTube. Prime Video currently has 28 Years Later listed for pre-order for $24.99, which is also the film's purchase price on PVOD. Since PVOD rentals typically run $5 less than purchase prices, viewers can expect to rent 28 Years Later for $19.99 for a 48-hour period. The film is still playing in theaters. So far, 28 Years Later has earned $70 million domestically and $80 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $150 million. The film had a $60 million production before prints and advertising costs, per The Numbers. Danny Boyle Says '28 Years Later' Is Not A Zombie Film While those who have the Rage Virus in 28 Years Later have zombie-like qualities, Danny Boyle insisted in an interview with TIME Magazine before the film's release in theaters that the antagonists are not zombies. 'We had this thing about, 'No, they're not zombies. They're infected,'' Boyle told TIME. 'We wanted them to behave in a different way physically, but they also weren't undead. They could die and they will die, but so will you if they catch you.' In 28 Years Later, Aaron Taylor-Johnson's character, Jamie, takes his 12-year-old son, Spike (Alfie Williams), to the mainland where the infected roam over the objections of his wife and the boy's mother, Isla (Jodie Comer). The trip to the mainland is a rite of passage where the younger people sheltered by their island community learn to hunt the infected. Bold told TIME that part of the storyline was influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic. 'When COVID first happened, we wore gloves, we disinfected groceries,' Boyle told TIME. 'But gradually over time, you start taking more risks. You don't stay in that super alert stage. You evolve. And so it is in 28 Years. They begin to take risks. Jamie takes his 12-year-old son to the mainland even though, as the mom says, that's f---ing crazy.' Rated R, 28 Years Later — which is executive produced by 28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy — is expected to arrive on PVOD on Tuesday.

Fantastic Four Review, Meryl Streep In Devil Wears Prada 2, And More

This week in Screen Time, my brain is consumed by how much I loved Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. I also share what's all over my FYP — like Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson reuniting for a movie — and what we've got going on over on BuzzFeed Celeb's YouTube channel, plus so much more. Listen, I even find time to explain who THE best TV ships are, according to me. Thanks for joining me! The Fantastic Four: First Steps — watch for: Vanessa Kirby. A new Marvel woman I would die for. In theaters now The Fantastic Four: First Steps finally brings Marvel's first family to the MCU. The movie doesn't spend time on origins, and instead drops you right into the action of the Fantastic Four facing the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner) and Galactus (Ralph Ineson). The dynamic between Reed (Pedro Pascal), Sue (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny (Joseph Quinn), and Ben (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) is everything I could've wished for. While each of them is great, it's Vanessa as Sue who is the heart of the film. Her portrayal of motherhood is spectacular and endearing. So, basically, Vanessa, welcome to the club of Marvel women I would die for. Plus, when she and Pedro have moments together, you can see the love behind their eyes that really solidifies the Reed-Sue dynamic. And it's just a visually cool movie from director Matt Shakman, the mind behind WandaVision. They finally got the Fantastic Four right on screen, and it poetically took exactly four tries. The Gilded Age — watch for: Honestly? Stunning costumes, wild storylines, and a great cast Streaming on HBO Max; new episodes every Sunday As someone who watched Downton Abbey religiously every week, The Gilded Age is a show that feels like it was made in a lab specifically for me. Created by Julian Fellowes, who also created Downton, the show is set in NYC during the 1880s and follows the social scene and conflicts that arise between old money and new money in the city. While the show started off as a guilty pleasure watch for most, with its current third season, it has found its footing and become one of the best shows you might not be watching. Anchored by riveting performances from Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Taissa Farmiga, Denée Benton, Louisa Jacobson, and more, each episode of this new season has been better than the last. So, yes, my comfort show right now consists of living in 1880s NYC, and I am totally okay with that. Severance — watch for: Once-in-a-lifetime performances from the entire cast Streaming on Apple TV+ Leading into this year's Emmy Awards in September, I figured I would spotlight the Emmy-nominated shows that you should watch (or rewatch) before then. So, we're starting off with Severance, which has the most nominations with 27! This brilliant series follows the employees of Lumon, who have elected to have a procedure that splits their personalities in half. Their 'innie' exists only at work, while their 'outie' lives out their personal lives outside of work. I genuinely believe this is one of the greatest (and smartest) TV shows airing right now. With brilliant performances from literally everyone in this cast, like Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Tramell Tillman, to name a few, you're honestly missing out if you're NOT watching. Please, join me in worship at the altar of Lumon (and Helly R.). These are some of my favorite things from my FYP, feed, and more: My entire feed this week has been flooded with Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson. Twenty-two years after starring as Pacey and Joey on Dawson's Creek, the duo is currently filming Happy Hours, a romance movie written and directed by Holmes. The photos of them smiling and laughing while filming in NYC caused widespread panic on my feeds because, yes, Katie and Joshua really do have the best chemistry ever committed to film. At the end of the day, all we want is new projects starring actors who have unmatched chemistry. See: what Nora Ephron did with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, or even what Mike Flanagan does. And in other filming news, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has begun filming in NYC, which means we've been able to catch glimpses of Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, Meryl Streep, Simone Ashley, and more filming, and I'm honestly getting more and more excited. Not only did Anne post from her first day back, but the minute photos of Meryl as THE Miranda Priestly hit the internet, it's all anyone could talk about. And can you blame them? LOOK AT HER: This week, over on BuzzFeed Celeb, the I Know What You Did Last Summer cast — Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Sarah Pidgeon, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Gabbriette Bechtel — swung by to compete in a game of Cast Wars, aka a trivia game about themselves. Right out of the gate, things got competitive when Chase, Tyriq, and Gabbriette named their team "Pogues for Life," and it only got more hilariously wild from there. We tested them on each other's past roles, like Sarah's turn in The Wilds, as well as the OG IKWYDLS movie, like what was the color of Helen's dress? Watch it all now: Where I answer YOUR questions about TV, movies, fandom, and more: Question: Who are your top five TV ships of all time? If there's one thing you need to know about me, I live and die by the ships I love that have become part of my personality. I have very strong opinions about which sides of love triangles are correct. I often tweet and flail over my unyielding love of characters who make me swoon. This question was made for me. I also stand by all of my picks. Coming up with a top five is hard, but I think I feel confident in this list: 1. Nathan and Haley from One Tree Hill 2. Mark and Lexie from Grey's Anatomy 3. Glenn and Maggie from The Walking Dead 4. Caroline and Klaus from The Vampire Diaries 5. Waverly and Nicole from Wynonna Earp And we're continuing the discussion over here: Tell me who YOUR top five TV ships of all time are! Well, that's all I've got for this week's edition of Screen Time. Come back every week to get more TV and movie recommendations, find out which celebs we're working with, and so much more! Have a question for me, or want to tell me what you're watching right now, or have a suggestion of what I should watch next? Jurassic World Rebirth devours the competition at weekend box office

The summer tentpole films are rolling out, and as expected, Jurassic World Rebirth had a massive opening over the holiday weekend. The film opened to $91.5 million at the box office, more than three times the amount the runner-up, F1: The Movie, made the same weekend. It's also nearly double F1's opening (the racing film opened to $57 million the week before). Over the course of five days, Jurassic World Rebirth has racked up a respectable $147,304,630, more than F1 has made in its two weeks in theaters. Jurassic is the only debut on the box office charts, and it's off to a good start. However, its five-day total is comparable to what Lilo & Stitch made in its first weekend ($146,016,175; now sitting at the number seven spot, the film has grossed $972,720,147 worldwide and counting). However, Variety notes that Jurassic's numbers are down for the dino franchise. The initial reboot, 2015's Jurassic World, opened to $208 million; 2018's Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom opened to $148 million; and 2022's Jurassic World Dominion opened to $145 million. Those films also all had significantly higher five-day totals than Rebirth, though the downward trend for each suggests that people simply aren't as excited about the prospect of a Jurassic World anymore—perhaps the suspension of disbelief as to why people keep bringing their kids around raging dinosaurs has worn a bit thin. We'll see how Rebirth holds up when Superman flies into theaters this coming weekend. The other notable new entry on last weekend's domestic box office chart is the restored, remastered, and re-released This Is Spinal Tap, which sits at number 10 having made $931,737 in its re-opening weekend. The success has spurred some additional dates tacked on to the limited engagement, with new showtimes on July 7, 8, and 9. In a statement (via Deadline), Bleecker Street Distribution President Kyle Davies said, 'We are thrilled with these early results of our re-release of [Rob Reiner's] original This Is Spinal Tap. While showtimes were limited this weekend, and the initial engagement carries into Monday, we experienced sell-out shows across the country, demonstrating that interest in the world of Spinal Tap still 'goes to 11.' Glad fans and newcomers alike got a taste of these musical legends as we head into the release of Spinal Tap II later this year.' You can check out the full top 10, courtesy Box Office Mojo, below.
