Whoopi Goldberg Just Slammed Stephen A. Smith For Suggesting That He'd Divorce Serena Williams Over That Super Bowl Moment
I'm sure you're aware by now that Serena joined Kendrick Lamar on stage during the halftime show on Sunday — and that she was filmed Crip Walking as Kendrick rapped his infamous Drake diss track 'Not Like Us.'
Given that Serena was romantically linked to Drake around a decade ago, several people — including media personality Stephen A. Smith — were quick to accuse the athlete of trolling her apparent ex.
For context, Drake has name-dropped Serena and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, in his song lyrics over the years. In 2022, he called Alexis a 'groupie' on his track 'Middle of the Ocean,' and just last year, he revealed that his 2016 hit 'Too Good' was about Serena.
Stephen boldly said on ESPN's chat show First Take, 'If I'm married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass, 'cause clearly you don't belong with me. What you worried about him for and you're with me? Bye. Bye.'
Stephen's divisive comments were soon addressed by Alexis, who has been married to Serena since 2017. After branding the halftime show 'fantastic,' the Reddit cofounder pointed Stephen towards the real meaning behind Serena's halftime show appearance.
'Some of y'all have no idea how criticized Serena was for this same dance at Wimbledon 13 years ago and it shows.... This is bigger than the music,' he tweeted, referencing the fact that Serena was accused of 'glamorizing gang culture' when she performed the move in celebration after beating fellow tennis player Maria Sharapova.
Alexis was praised for defending Serena and highlighting the importance of her Crip Walk, and now, The View host Whoopi has called Stephen out as well. On Tuesday's episode of the talk show, Whoopi questioned why Stephen immediately linked Serena's halftime cameo to Drake.
'Why wasn't it, 'Damn, Serena was great?' Why is it about some ex-boyfriend she hasn't thought of?' Whoopi said. 'She got a chance to do something she wanted to do, and she went and did it, and instead of saying, 'Damn, that was kind of great,' you're bringing it back to some old stuff.'
Insisting that Serena's cameo was 'not about Drake,' Whoopi added, 'Stop trying to make it about somebody's man. It ain't always about somebody's man. It's about the person. Forget all that other stuff.'

Taylor Swift May Have Dropped Super Bowl 2026 Halftime Show Easter Egg
Originally appeared on E! Online Taylor Swift may be masterminding her very first Super Bowl halftime show performance. At least, that's what Swifties believe after picking up on several seemingly cryptic comments from the "Karma" singer's Aug. 13 appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast. First, there was that conversation about Taylor's love of baking, during which she quipped, "I'm really talking about bread 60 percent of the time now." Though it seemed like a surface remark about her favorite pastime, many fans think that was actually an Easter egg about the upcoming 60th Super Bowl in 2026, which will take place at the San Francisco 49ers' home turf at Levi's Stadium. And if that didn't begin to raise eyebrows, Taylor then went into detail making sourdough bread, which some theorized was a hint about the 49ers' mascot Sourdough Sam. "We're very deep into a sourdough obsession that had taken over my life," she shared during the interview, adding that Travis asked her earlier this summer to send him "two loaves of sourdough" while he was training with the Kansas City Chiefs—who defeated the 49ers at the 2019 and 2024 Super Bowls. More from E! Online Jason Kelce Gets Emotional Over Taylor Swift's Adorable Comment About Travis Kelce Bryan Kohberger Said Kaylee Goncalves' Name During Idaho Murders, Police Documents Reveal Sophie Turner Details "Vile" Kiss With Game of Thrones Costar Kit Harington Another potential Super Bowl Easter egg? Taylor thanking Travis' brother and co-host Jason Kelce for "screaming for 47 seconds" during her introduction on the podcast. While technically that number is a little off from the 49ers, Swifties online pointed out that her 47th stop on her Eras Tour show was at—you guessed it—Levi's Stadium. She also mentioned the number 47 when quipping that she performed in 47,000 countries during the Eras Tour. And, as Taylor even admitted on the show, she often uses numbers in her Easter eggs. "I love numerology. I love math stuff. I love dates," the 35-year-old shared. "That stuff, I find really fun." Taylor continued, "I want Easter eggs to be a certain thing, where if you are a part of the fandom and you want to experience music in a normal way, then you don't even see these. You don't even care what that thing is." But for those who do like decoding Easter eggs, she added, "For me, that's really fun because they find it fun." Stephen A. Smith says he and LeBron James have ‘no relationship' after bitter feud
Things did not end on a good note with Stephen A. Smith and LeBron James. During an appearance on former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas' 'Gil's Arena' podcast Friday, Smith said that he has zero contact with James and does not have any interest in ever speaking to him again. 'There's no situation and there's no relationship,' Smith said. 'He doesn't like me, and I don't like him.' Advertisement 3 Stephen A. NBAE via Getty Images Smith's comments stem from his feud with the 21-time All-Star earlier this year, when the two threw jabs at each other during various appearances on ESPN, which ultimately led to an in-person confrontation during a game in March. The ESPN sports personality added that other things happened between him and James 'behind the scenes' that the public does not know about. Advertisement 'All I would say is people don't know the things that have happened behind the scenes,' Smith said. 'Things that have been said, who they've been said to. The kind of things that have been engaged in in an effort to hurt me, along with contemporaries and others.' Smith also mentioned how he did not appreciate how James came at him on 'The Pat McAfee Show,' which airs directly after 'First Take' on ESPN. 3 Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James arguing with the ref in the second half of a game against the Knicks. And the last straw was him approaching me and turning the Bronny thing into something about me attacking somebody's family, when it was him I was talking about. Not Bronny. Advertisement 'And then to go on 'The Pat McAfee Show,' which comes directly on after my show. On the channel that I work on. To insult me. Now, people can get into all kind of components that go into it and all that other stuff. I have nothing to say.' 3 Stephen A. Advertisement 'I'm never going to denigrate any employer, any partner, or myself by getting into anything excessively, unnecessarily, when it comes to him or anybody else,' Smith said. 'I'm going to do my job. I'm going to cover the game of basketball. 'But if I never, ever speak to him again in life, that will be OK. And I'm good with it.'

Will Taylor Swift be the next Super Bowl halftime performer? Here's why fans think so
Did Taylor Swift leave her fans breadcrumbs indicating she will be heading to her third Super Bowl in three years, but this time as the halftime entertainer? It's possible the timing could be right for the singer. In 2022, TMZ reported that sources with direct knowledge said the singer was asked to perform, but "she didn't want to perform until she finished rerecording all of her first six albums." In May, the "Showgirl" announced she had purchased her entire catalog from Shamrock Capital, telling fans all of her music belonged to her. And now fans think there were clues during her recent appearance on the "New Heights" podcast that pointed toward Miss Americana bringing her 12 eras to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Feb. 8. Swift told Jason Kelce that she's "really talking about bread 60% of the time" before diving into the sourdough loaves she bakes and comes up with clever puns for like "Are you bready for it?" or "It's a loaf story, baby just say yeast," connecting her songs to the baked buns. Turns out the mascot of the 49ers is Sourdough Sam and this year the 49ers stadium will host Super Bowl 60. Taylor Swift at Super Bowl 59: Her outfit, her suite mates from Ice Spice to the Kelce fam When Swift explained her football knowledge prior to dating Travis Kelce, she mentioned the entertainment spectacle: "I've known every halftime show from the Super Bowls, but I didn't watch the sports." The singer-songwriter plans for events, album releases and Easter egg clues years in advance. Whether Swift hoped to have her rerecords finished by 2026 or buy back her masters, she wore an Erin Andrews jacket to Super Bowl 58 with the number "60" on the back. Plus, Travis Kelce is about to begin his 13th season in the NFL. The singer's team did not respond immediately to an email requesting comment. Last year, Kendrick Lamar was announced as the halftime entertainer in early September. Follow Bryan West, the USA TODAY Network's Taylor Swift reporter, on Instagram, TikTok and X as @BryanWestTV.
