"India becoming Atmanirbhar in every field," says UP Minister Nandi on country ranked 4th largest economy
Lucknow (Uttar Pardesh) [India],May 25 (ANI) : Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' on Sunday said India is moving forward with confidence under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, becoming Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) in every sector while steadily progressing towards becoming the world's leading economy.
The minister said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the nation is becoming self-reliant in every sector.
Speaking to ANI, Gupta 'Nandi' said, 'Till now we used to say in our speeches that the Prime Minister is working tirelessly towards making India the biggest economy in the world... India is becoming 'Atmanirbhar' in every field and is moving forward by accepting every challenge.'
In a recent development, Union Minister of State Pabitra Margherita told ANI, 'India has become the 4th largest economy in the world, and this has been possible because of the united efforts of 1.4 billion people under the leadership of PM Modi. I congratulate every citizen of Mother India...'
Meanwhile, the BJP leader credited this remarkable rise to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary leadership over the past 11 years, strengthening India's economic foundations and propelling the country's rapid growth despite global challenges.
BJP Pardeep Bhandari highlighted this achievement as a crucial milestone towards India's goal of becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Malook Nagar also praised the NDA government for both the historic win of the country's financial power and combatting terrorism.
NITI Aayog Chief Executive Officer (CEO) BVR Subrahmanyam, on Saturday, said that India has overtaken Japan to become the world's fourth-largest economy, citing data by the International Monetary Fund.
According to the IMF's April edition of the World Economic Outlook report, the nominal GDP for fiscal 2026 is expected to reach around USD 4,187.017 billion. This is marginally more than the likely GDP of Japan, which is estimated at USD 4,186.431 billion.
India was the fifth largest economy in the world till 2024.(ANI)

Babulal sheds crocodile tears for tribal land owners, says JMM
Ranchi: JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya on Sunday accused the leader of the opposition and state BJP president Babulal Marandi of shedding crocodile tears for tribal raiyyats (landowners), who are opposing land acquisition for second campus of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (Rims) in Nagri area under the Kanke block. Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Bhattacharya said during Marandi's tenure as chief minister, police firing incidents took place during which people protesting against land acquisitions for projects in Tapkara in Khunti and Neterhaat in Latehar were fired upon. Marandi should apologise for the incidents, the JMM leader said. Notably, Marandi visited Nagri on Saturday and met people, who were opposing Rims-2 in their area. Marandi alleged that the state govt wanted to displace tribals from their agricultural land but he would not allow the acquisition of even an inch without approval of the gram sabha in the villages. Reacting to Marandi's visit and statement, Bhattacharya said so far, the state govt has not issued any notification regarding the place where the new hospital would be built and according to the plan, the new hospital should come up along the ring road. He also claimed that Marandi is raising the issues to serve the interest of one Sunil Sahu. "Details will be provided later on," the JMM leader said. Bhattacharya also said Marandi as the first CM of Jharkhand, adopted the Bihar rules for administering the state which was against the vision of separate Jharkhand for preventing exploitation and protection of tribal identity and rights. He also said during that period, the opposition had demanded the framing of the state's own rules for protecting the tribal land, but Marandi ignored it. "There is a provision in the Land Acquisition and Reform Act 2013 which states that any acquired land not used for five years should be returned to the raiyyats. Marandi must request the BJP-led central govt to return the surplus land of Steel Authority of India Limited, Coal India Limited and Heavy Engineering Corporation in the state," Bhattacharya said. He also took potshots at Marandi saying that when BJP national president and Union health minister J P Nadda called the state's health minister Irfan Ansari for discussions on improving the health facilities in Jharkhand, the state BJP president felt bad about it as he was ignored.

In an interview with TOI, Sai declared a turning point after 18 months of intense counter-insurgency efforts. "Our approach combines robust security measures with a strong emphasis on addressing root causes through development & inclusive policies. "We aim to achieve a Naxal-free Chhattisgarh by March 31, 2026." The CM said his government plans to transform tribal-majority Bastar as well as the state through education, skilling, welfare projects, and inclusive policies. Government forces have penetrated deep into forested terrain long considered inaccessible, setting up security camps that now act as outposts of governance. These camps are enabling the spread of basic services and infrastructure in isolated tribal areas. The CM said these camps will remain as long as necessary. "Security has improved dramatically, there's a sharp decline in violence and 1,355 Maoists have surrendered," Sai said. "Our surrender and rehabilitation policy has successfully reintegrated former Naxals, while initiatives like Niyad Nella Nar Yojana are promoting growth and stability in villages within a 10km radius of security camps." Asked about public protests against blanket amnesty for hardcore Maoists, Sai struck a conciliatory tone. "I understand the pain and anger of families who have lost loved ones. Their suffering is immeasurable," he said. "The government is committed to ensuring justice and addressing their concerns with utmost sensitivity. The surrender policy is constantly under review. We are committed to finding the right balance between encouraging surrender and ensuring accountability. " Critics have alleged that anti-Maoist operations are paving the way for mining interests. Sai dismissed these concerns. "Such allegations are unfounded. Our government's primary focus is the development and well-being of Bastar and its people," he said. Addressing controversy over mining in the Hasdeo forest, Sai acknowledged the complexities in balancing development with indigenous rights. "We are committed to a path of responsible and inclusive development. This involves engaging with tribal communities, respecting their traditional rights over land and resources, and ensuring they benefit from development projects." He credited the "double engine government" - a term often used to describe BJP-led governments at both state and central levels - for accelerating Bastar's transformation. "Under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah, Bastar is witnessing transformative development," he said. "Effective policy implementation and better resource allocation are possible because of this synergy." Sai emphasised a broader vision for the state beyond mining. "Chhattisgarh is more than just a mineral-rich state," he said. "Recently, we conducted bhoomi pujan for a semiconductor manufacturing unit and an AI data centre in Nava Raipur. Many IT companies have shown interest in investing here."He said Chhattisgarh ranks among the most progressive states in governance and innovation. "Even Bastar, once overshadowed by conflict, has begun attracting investment. We are witnessing a revival of cultural pride and local economic activity, marking a new era of hope. "

Shah inaugurates central forensic lab in Rajarhat
1 2 Kolkata: Amit Shah said on Sunday the Centre will take a "holistic approach" to criminal justice from Jan 2026, through which India's criminal justice system will be "based on evidence rather than argument". The Union home minister was speaking at the inauguration of a Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Rajarhat. The lab, spread across six acres, was built with an investment of Rs 90 crore. "The Indian govt has started creating clusters of three-four states and developing their criminal justice system to become more evidence-based using CFSL facilities. We will develop a holistic approach that will be effective from Jan 2026. Each police station will be able to avail the advantages of CFSL facilities," Shah said. "The entire criminal justice system will be based on evidence rather than argument. Accused will not be freed only due to benefit of doubt," he added. The Union home minister said the CFSL network will assist states as state forensic science labs will be able to take expert opinion from CFSL facilities. "Our transaction, communication, identity and basic details have already gone online. We have already given a legal base to processes like using technology in crime scene investigation and trial," Shah added. He further said that changed evidence laws, under the BNSS, now make it mandatory for the forensic science team to visit the crime scene for crimes that are liable for punishment for seven years and above. Shah announced that nine new campuses of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) will be built with an investment of Rs 1,300 crore. Seven new CFSL facilities will be built with an investment of Rs 860 crore across UP, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Bihar. "We will bring development projects for forensic capacities with an investment of Rs 2,080 crore. A national forensic data centre will be prepared with an investment of Rs 200 crore. We will use AI to analyse data in these centres," Shah said. "All 17,184 police stations are connected by Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems . We are monitoring them online too. We will need forensic experts and infrastructure. Each district will be provided a forensic mobile van. We have already established the NFSU. We have 16 premises now, and 10 more NFSU colleges will come up. We will have 36,000 students holding diplomas, degrees and PhDs. We will have a steady supply of trained manpower," he added.
