Answer to Chandigarh-Mohali traffic woes, IT City-Kurali bypass corridor to open by Aug 15

Mohali: After years of anticipation and a few bumps along the way, the IT City–Kurali bypass corridor is finally nearing completion — and it's set to open on Aug 15. Mohali deputy commissioner Komal Mittal confirmed the update following a review meeting with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
This six-lane, access-controlled expressway, part of the Bareilly–Ludhiana Expressway (also known as the Ambala–Kurali Expressway), is poised to transform travel across the region. Stretching 31.23 km, the corridor will offer a signal-free alternative to Mohali's congested Airport Road, easing traffic and improving connectivity from Delhi to Himachal Pradesh, interior Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir. It is also expected to reduce congestion on key urban routes in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Zirakpur.
The corridor once completed will be inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister.
"The project is already 80% complete," said DC Mittal. "Though originally planned to open by June 30, some unavoidable delays have pushed the launch to Independence Day. NHAI officials have assured us that the remaining work will be completed on schedule."
Estimated to cost around Rs 1,525 crore, the project saw Rs 763 crore earmarked for land acquisition and Rs 762 crore for construction.

In 2023, the project was put on hold for nearly eight months as landowners were protesting against the rates being offered for their land. A total of 450 acres was acquired across 28 villages, including 21 in Kharar tehsil and 6 in Mohali tehsil. The project is part of NHAI's Greenfield initiative, launched after scrapping the earlier Kharar–Banur–Tepla road plan in 2019 due to escalating costs.

ED seizes assets, shares worth nearly Rs 26 crore in Noida property scam
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized several properties and assets worth nearly Rs 25.94 crore in a money laundering case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Unnati Fortune Holdings Ltd (UFHL) and its promoters for allegedly duping home buyers and financial institutions. Twelve properties have been seized in Meerut, Noida and Delhi.
