' Their union—steeped in tradition, shared values, and mutual respect—culminated in a glamorous yet deeply personal celebration last weekend in the Hamptons. An unexpected meeting The couple first met in October 2023 at a birthday party hosted by their mutual friends, James and Nicky Hilton Rothschild. According to Vogue , it was during this party that 'they quickly discovered their mutual interests in politics and public service.' The spark was immediate. And it's, like, the first time I realized I had been mistaking lust for love.' As their relationship deepened, the couple found themselves bonding not only over public service and politics but over a shared desire to build a life of intention, balance, and cultural respect. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 中年以降であれば、このゲームは必須です。 BuzzDaily Winners ゲームをプレイ Undo Huma, raised in Saudi Arabia by Indian and Pakistani parents, had spent decades in political service, rising from a White House intern to vice chair of Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. A heartfelt proposal 'Alex bought the ring one morning and proposed by our dining table that same evening,' Abedin told Vogue . 'He handed me the ring in a takeout bag saying that it was 'dessert.' It had been a long day at work, and I was distracted because I was leaving for a trip early the next morning. It was a total surprise and a beautiful one!' A few weeks later, he proposed again—this time, formally—on a balcony in Italy overlooking the sea. The moment was captured in a joint Instagram post shared on July 10, 2024, where Alex could be seen on one knee. The caption read: 'This happened…we couldn't be happier, more grateful, or more in love .' Credit: Instagram/@alexsoros When Hillary and Anna Said 'Yes' As per reports, the duo had a bizarre plan of marrying after eloping together, however that changed at an engagement party co-hosted by Hillary Clinton and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. 'We got engaged with no plans to have a wedding,' Abedin shared. 'But once we decided to have a wedding—or rather when we were instructed to have a wedding by Hillary and Anna, who pulled out their calendars and suggested the date—it was set.' Though Soros had a conference scheduled in Europe, the couple made it work. 'It was an unexpectedly wonderful journey,' Abedin added. A weekend of intimacy and glamour The couple held two ceremonies. On Friday, they gathered with close family at George Soros's home in Southampton to sign both the nikah (in honor of Abedin's Muslim faith) and the ketubah (to honor Soros's Jewish heritage). For this occasion, Abedin wore a custom lace Erdem dress, later changing into an Oscar de la Renta number adorned with a purple allium flower motif for the lunch.
