Lizzo Says Her Boyfriend Changed Her Perspective on the Term 'Weight Loss': 'Where Did It Go?'
Lizzo's boyfriend, Myke Wright, taught her a valuable lesson.
During an appearance on On Purpose with Jay Shetty on Monday, April 7, the "Special" singer opened up about her "weight release" journey — and how her boyfriend changed her perspective.
"My man, he's so funny. He was the one that brought it to my attention at first. Because at first I was like, 'Oh my gosh I lost five pounds' and he was like, 'Where did it go?,'" Lizzo, 36, began.
She continued, "I was mad at him, I was like, 'Why would he say that?' but he was like, 'Where did it go?'"

Further elaborating, Lizzo said she realized she didn't want to "lose anything" — she wanted to "win."
"I want to be very intentional about the words that come out of my mouth because there's young people who are watching me and they're experiencing what I'm putting into the world," the "About Damn Time" singer said. "They're applying it to their own experience and their own life just like I did when I was a kid."
When Lizzo was growing up, she noticed "how the media treated people who gained and lost weight" — and that impacted her "brain chemistry."
"Be careful with your words because it can affect somebody in ways you don't even know," she concluded. "Even me releasing the weight has affected people and I take that seriously. I take that responsibility. And because of that I want to transmute it into something that makes people feel comfortable and less afraid of it."
Lizzo has been open about her "weight release" journey for over a year. In March 2024, the Grammy-winner spoke to The New York Times about wanting to be "methodical" and consistent when it comes to her weight loss process.

"I'm taking the time every day to put some love into my body," she said. "There is never a day when I regret taking a walk or doing some Pilates."
"I've been methodical, losing weight very slowly," she added, before responding to critics who argue that her losing weight goes against her former body-positivity stance. "My body is nobody's business."
As for her relationship with Wright, Lizzo confirmed she was dating him an April 2022 interview with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM series Radio Andy.
In December 2022 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, she said, "I am very much in love with Myke. 100 percent. There's nobody else I'm going to be with for the rest of my life."

Inside Billie Eilish's Dating History Amid Rumored Romance With Nat Wolff: Jesse Rutherford and More
Billie Eilish appears to be involved in a lovely new romance. The 'Ocean Eyes' singer fueled romance rumors with former Nickelodeon star Nat Wolff in June 2025, when the pair was spotted sharing a kiss in Venice, Italy. Their outing came three months after Eilish and Wolff had fans questioning the nature of their relationship when they reportedly left the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards together and spent time with each other in New York City. Us Weekly reached out to reps for both Eilish and Wolff for comment. If a romance is blossoming between Eilish and Wolff, it would seemingly be the Grammy winner's first public relationship since she was romantically linked to The Neighbourhood singer Jesse Rutherford in 2022. Prior to her year-long romance with Rutherford, she dated actor Matthew Tyler Vorce and rapper Brandon Quentin Adams, whom she called 'Q.' Billie Eilish and Jesse Rutherford's Relationship Timeline: The Way They Were Scroll down for a closer look at Eilish's dating history. Eilish quietly dated Adams, who goes by the stage name 7:AMP, for less than one year. The singer's 2021 AppleTV+ documentary, Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry, showcased both the highs and lows of their relationship. In one scene, Eilish told Adams she loved him. In another, she angrily threw her phone after he told her that he would 'try' to come see her. Eilish and Adams' split was also shown in the documentary. "I just wasn't happy. I didn't want the same things he wanted, and I don't think that's fair for him. I don't think you should be in a relationship, super excited about things that the other person couldn't care less about," she said. Eilish continued, "There was just a lack of effort. I was literally like, 'Dude, you don't have enough love to love yourself, so you can't love me, dude. And you don't. [laughs] You think you do.'' See Which Celebrity Couples Have Surprisingly Big Age Differences Eilish sparked dating rumors with Vorce in April 2021 after the two were spotted getting coffee in California. The pair never publicly discussed their relationship while they were dating, but Vorce spoke out about his split from Eilish in May 2022. "Nobody cheated on anyone,' he wrote on his Instagram Stories at the time. 'Relationships end. Simple as that. Creating rumors and LYING on the internet is dangerous.' In another post, Vorce wrote, "The fact that thousands of people take time out of their day to write the most heinous things on someone they will never knows post is the most cowardly thing you can possibly do. Live your own life.' Eilish also told Vanity Fair in 2022 that she was 'extremely grateful' for the relationship. 'I think he's so much happier now which makes me really happy," she added. Eilish and Rutherford were first spotted together on a dinner date in October 2022. The former couple was also photographed kissing outside a restaurant in L.A. Though they faced backlash for their 10-year age gap, Eilish and Rutherford proved that the criticism didn't bother them when they dressed as a baby and an old man for Halloween 2022. In November, Eilish and Rutherford made their red carpet debut at the LACMA Art + Film Gala, wearing matching pajama-inspired outfits. "It's really cool. I'm really excited and I'm really happy about it,' Eilish told Vanity Fair of the romance later that year. 'Can we just [get a] round of applause for me? Thank you, Jesse Rutherford, everyone." In May 2023, a rep for Eilish confirmed that she and Rutherford had called it quits. 'We can confirm Billie and Jesse did split amicably and remain good friends,' the rep said. 'All cheating rumors are false. Both are currently single.' One year later, Eilish told Rolling Stone that Rutherford was 'one of [her] favorite people in the world." Billie Eilish Says Jesse Rutherford Is Her 'Homie Forever' 3 Months After Split Wolff appeared in Eilish's June 2024 music video for 'Chihiro' and opened for her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour alongside brother Alex Wolff later that year. Eilish and Wolff sparked dating rumors in March 2025, when they reportedly left the iHeartRadio Music Awards together and hung out in NYC together days later. The romance rumors continued in June 2025, when a photo shared by DeuxMoi showed Wolff pulling Eilish in for a kiss in Venice, Italy. Another snap showed Eilish seemingly taking a photo of Wolff as he held a champagne glass and leaned over a balcony.

In that tribute, he underscored her importance to him and their kids. "My heart is broken. Melinda, my beloved wife of 28 years, passed away this morning. Our five children and I are just in tears. We are at a loss for words right now," the June 11 post reads. "Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love & Mercy." The post about Melinda's death also contained a message from the couple's kids. According to People, Brian Wilson had seven kids. "It is with a heavy heart that we let everyone know that our mom, Melinda Kay Ledbetter Wilson passed away peacefully this morning at home. She was a force of nature and one of the strongest women you could come by," the kids' post read. "She was not only a model, our father's savior, and a mother, she was a woman empowered by her spirit with a mission to better everyone she touched. We will miss her but cherish everything she has taught us," the post continued. "How to take care of the person next to you with out expecting anything in return, how to find beauty in the darkest of places, and how to live life as your truest self with honesty and pride. We love you mom. Give Grandma Rose and Pa our love," it says. Wilson's Instagram page posted a series of wedding and other photos showing Brian and Melinda. "Thirty years ago today in 1995, Brian and Melinda were married! Said Brian: 'Melinda and I got married at a chapel in Palos Verdes. There were about one hundred fifty people at the wedding,'" the post reads. "There were only supposed to be about a hundred, but people kept coming, which was a little surprising for a Monday night in February. My brother Carl was my best man. Afterward, we went to the Hotel Bel-Air for music and food and danced and had a good time," it Wilson's Heartbreaking Tribute to Wife Melinda When She Died First first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 11, 2025
