Why Celtics Hall of Famer Larry Bird had such an impact on the City of Boston
Boston Celtics Hall of Fame forward Larry Bird left an indelible mark on the City of Boston. The Hick From French Lick loved his home state of Indiana, but as the man himself once said after winning a banner with Boston, French Lick was the only other place he would rather be.
And the love locals had for Larry Legend (and still have, right up to this day) has been evident almost from the moment he started suiting up for the Celtics all those years ago. Why did this basketball legend have such a profound impact on the local community that he played in?

Boston Celtics jersey history No. 28 - Quinn Buckner (1982-85)

The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover. And for today's article, we will continue with the sixth of 14 people to wear the No. 28, Boston guard alum Quinn Buckner. After ending his college career at Indiana, Buckner was picked up with the seventh overall selection of the 1976 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. His stint with the Bucks ended in 1982 when Milwaukee dealt him to Boston. His stay with the team would span three seasons, coming to an end when he was dealt to the Indiana Pacers in 1985. During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Buckner wore only jersey No. 28 and put up 4.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.

Are we all guilty of exaggerating how bad the Boston Celtics will be next season?

Are we all guilty of exaggerating how bad the Boston Celtics will be next season? Not everyone thinks that the Celtics will be an awful ball club in the NBA's 2025-26 regular season despite trading away Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, and letting Luke Kornet and Al Horford walk in free agency. It is fair to say that the incoming players via signings (Luka Garza and Josh Minott), trades (Georges Niang and Anfernee Simons), and the 2025 NBA Draft (Hugo Gonzalez, Amari Williams, and Max Shulga) will provide new opportunities for Boston in terms of their style of play, and it looks like Neemias Queta, Baylor Scheierman and Jordan Walsh could be ready to take a step forward. Did we mention that Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Sam Hauser, and Payton Pritchard are still on the team? The folks behind the "Backyard Buckets" YouTube channel put together a clip imploring us to stop sleeping on the Celtics for the season ahead. Check it out below to hear their case!
