'Den of Thieves 2' hits Netflix: Action sequel starring Gerard Butler surges in popularity despite mixed reviews
The action-packed sequel follows O'Brien as he heads to Europe to track down criminal mastermind Donnie Wilson, played by O'Shea Jackson Jr. The new chapter sees the pair caught in a high-stakes diamond heist set in the picturesque city of Nice, France.
While critics have offered mixed reviews, giving the film a 63% score on Rotten Tomatoes, audience feedback has been far more positive, with a 79% rating on the Popcornmeter. Charles Bramesco of The Guardian awarded it four stars, calling it 'another brash yet hugely entertaining 'Heat'-aping thriller.' Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com described it as 'a heist procedural, granular with details, elevated by a pair of charismatic leading men in one of the most beautiful places in the world.'
The sequel, directed by Christian Gudegast, builds on the gritty intensity of the 2018 original while offering a lighter tone and expanded international setting. Butler's character, now facing a personal crisis after a divorce and forced leave from the LAPD, infiltrates Donnie's crew in a bid to redeem himself and take down the gang from the inside.
The chemistry between Butler and Jackson Jr. remains a highlight, with their onscreen tension and reluctant camaraderie driving much of the film's appeal. The film also stars Evin Ahmad, Salvatore Esposito, and Fortunato Cerlino, adding depth to the ensemble cast.
Following the success of Den of Thieves 2, the franchise is already moving forward with a third instalment.
A post from the official X account in January confirmed Den of Thieves 3 is in development, with Jackson Jr. expressing his commitment to continuing the series.

'Better Late Than Single' producers share post-show update on fan favourite Noh Jae-yun
Better Late Than Single producers have confirmed that fan favourite cast member Noh Jae-yun is now in a relationship, 10 months after filming for the Netflix dating show wrapped. According to the show's creators, he has been dating someone outside of the series for the past two weeks. The announcement was shared during an interview with iMBC, in which co-creator Kim Noh-eun clarified that most cast updates remain private. 'It's difficult to comment on their personal lives at this point, but I imagine they'll reveal their status themselves soon,' she said. However, Noh Jae-yun reportedly gave the team permission to share this development. Producer Won Seung-jae added that while there's no confidentiality clause in place, the cast were advised to keep their private lives off social media initially to avoid issues such as scam messages or unwanted contact. Noh Jae-yun's journey on the show drew attention for his emotional growth and his courage in confessing feelings to another contestant, despite knowing they wouldn't be reciprocated. Viewers expressed support across platforms like Reddit, praising his maturity and hoping he finds someone who values him. The creators also addressed recent scenes involving Park Ji-yeon and Ha Jeong-mok, clarifying that their overnight date was part of a broader plan that only one couple took part in. Noh-eun defended the inclusion of their unedited scenes, stating it reflected a natural emotional connection between adults in a dating context. Better Late Than Single is currently available to stream on Netflix.

Leanne Morgan lands Netflix sitcom ‘Leanne' after hit stand-up special and Chuck Lorre interest
Leanne Morgan, celebrated for her 2023 Netflix stand-up special I'm Every Woman, has now launched her own sitcom, Leanne, produced in collaboration with legendary comedy producer Chuck Lorre. The 16‑episode half‑hour series is inspired by her stand-up, exploring themes of ageing, family life, and Southern humour. In Leanne, Morgan plays Leanne Murphy, a woman dealing with the end of her 33‑year marriage after her husband, played by Ryan Stiles, leaves for a younger woman. The storyline follows Leanne through heartbreak, sibling support from her sister (Kristen Johnston), dealings with ageing parents (Celia Weston and Blake Clark), and parenting her children. A handsome FBI agent played by Tim Daly enters the narrative, helping her rediscover her confidence. Morgan drew from her own experiences as a mother of three in Knoxville, Tennessee, to develop her comedic voice. She began performing stand-up while her children were young and credits her material on marriage, menopause, and family life for resonating with viewers worldwide. Chuck Lorre reportedly approached Morgan after seeing her stand-up special and invited her to create the sitcom. He credited her unique perspective and storytelling as inspiration. Morgan recalled that the personal invitation from Lorre felt validating and reaffirmed her comedy path. Netflix has confirmed that I'm Every Woman is the most-watched stand-up special by a female comedian on the platform, with 11 million views reported by June 2025. Tracey Pakosta, Netflix's comedy VP, noted that Morgan's exploration of universal themes like love, loss and reinvention contributes to its global appeal. Leanne showcases Morgan's Southern charm and sharp wit in a scripted format while staying true to her pastoral roots and comedic sensibility. Fans can expect ongoing stand-up specials and a current tour titled Just Getting Started through October.
