Christian McCaffrey's injury remains a potential loophole in the 49ers' comeback aspirations
The NFL preseason is underway, and the San Francisco 49ers still don't seem ready to make a hot start. They are planning to start the camp this week, but without two of their crown jewels in stable health.
Christian McCaffrey, the superstar running back, couldn't showcase his prowess in more than just four games last season as he suffered from a distorted Achilles and PCL injury. But now, the situation looks to be better, but the question it begs: what kind of better? Can he really show up for the 2025 regular season and help the 49ers get rid of the 6-11 curse with ease? Well, the answer is all but promising.
Christian McCaffrey's health seems to be an unsolved puzzle for the 49ers
The disaster started with a simple pre-season calf strain, but it eventually grew into a more serious Achilles tendinitis.
The 28-year-old couldn't even think of lacing up his cleats for the first eight games of the season. However, after prolonged medical care, he made a remarkable comeback in week 9. But before the fans could even process the joy, he went down again, and this time with a season-ending PCL injury during a lackluster loss to the Buffaloes.
Kyle Shanahan has high hopes of McCaffrey defying all the odds and being back to his full health before the season kicks in. He said that the RB is
'here and healthy'
, and so is their most significant left tackle, Trent Williams.

The other officials also suggested positive feedback on McCaffrey's ongoing healing. But we are still too early to reach a long-term conclusion.
Sure, the offensive player of the year 2023 gives his all to be back in the lore. But it's just July, and it won't be a shell-shocking update if his two major injuries recur during September's high-octane schedule and affect his performances in some way or other. However, for now, all signs point toward smooth sailing.
Christian McCaffrey teases a full-fledged return ahead in the season
McCaffrey wasn't in the scene for so long. The 49ers RB room is typically leaned towards guns like Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, and emerging stars Jahmyr Gibbs and Bijan Robinson in the meantime. But don't get it wrong, the veteran was pushing himself hard in silence when no one was watching. He never gave up on the idea of being back in his prime. He knows he is still the guy the team needs to win games, no matter what fans anticipate about rookie Ashton Jeanty or anyone else.
And the star running back behaves like that. On Monday, he fueled the return anticipation with a highly positive Instagram update featuring a few snaps of his sculpted physique after an intense workout. That grit in his body, the sheer passion in the sweat is undeniable, and so is his urge to return. It seems it's only a matter of time before the 49ers get a taste of their boy, renewed, recharged!

The article stated that Team USA would no longer permit transgender women to participate in women's categories at the Paralympic Games or Olympic Games. This decision follows a new rule from the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), matching Donald Trump's order from February 2025. That order is called 'Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports.' WWE SummerSlam 2025 Night 2 Pre-Show Breakdown (August 3, 2025): Full Matchcard, Storylines and What's at Stake
SummerSlam 2025 (Image via X) Night 2 of WWE SummerSlam 2025 is only a little while away as the pre-show inches towards its conclusion. The MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, is once again packed to the brim, as the second night of the big event is set to produce even bigger fights than the first. The Street Fight between John Cena and Cody Rhodes is, of course, the main event of the night, but the other five matches set to take place tonight are equally exciting. As Triple H posted, WWE is currently in stealth mode, and everything is pretty hush-hush for tonight. So let's take a look at what we know so far, and what WWE has in store for the fans for Night 2 of SummerSlam. SummerSlam 2025 Night 2 match cards in order (expected) WWE Women's World Championship : Naomi (c) vs. IYO SKY vs. Rhea Ripley WWE Tag Team Championship: Wyatt Sicks (c) vs. #DIY vs. Street Profits vs. Fraxiom vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. Andrade & Rey Fenix (TLC match) WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria WWE United States Championship: Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Jacob Fatu Dominik Mysterio vs. AJ Styles WWE Undisputed Championship: John Cena (c) vs. Cody Rhodes (Street Fight) The WWE Women's World Championship is going to open Night 2 A lot of chatter has been ongoing about the WWE Women's World Championship fight that will take place tonight in a three-way match. Naomi is the current title holder, after pinning IYO SKY at Evolution, when she very shockingly cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase at the very end of the show. Now both Rhea Ripley and Sky will be back with vengeance to get the belt, but Naomi is not someone they can easily toy with. These three women are at the top of their game when it comes to WWE's women's division. And this three-way match will be bloody, brutal, and brilliant, because that's just how good they are. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Signs Of Heart Attack That Shouldn't Be Ignored (Take A Look) TheDaddest Undo This match is supposed to open Night 2, and given that Ripley and Sky were the closing act at Evolution 2025, this seems pretty fitting. WWE Tag Team Championship TLC match The WWE Tag Team Championship match will be chaotic to say the least, and everyone knows it. With 6 tag teams competing in a Table, Ladder, and Chair match for the tag team belts, which will be hanging on top of the ring, fans already know what to expect, except maybe who will finally come out on top. John Cena and Cody Rhodes to end the night in a spectacular fashion Now that John Cena has turned Baby Face once more, or so it seems, is it time for Cody Rhodes to do the unthinkable, and turn heel? Or will it be a double heel and Cena never actually turned Face at all? Tonight's Street Fight match between these two heavyweights, who were last seen sharing a beer together after Rhodes welcomed Cena back, will be the last match of the night, and the action is supposed to be unmatched. Rhodes has been saying from the beginning that he wanted to face the real John Cena, and it looks like that's exactly what he is about to get. But as it has been said quite a few times by now, will Cody be able to hone in on his instincts and do what needs to be done to face Cena tonight? Whatever happens, WWE is very tight-lipped about it. With only a few minutes before the show starts, the crowd is absolutely going wild, and we can't wait to see what happens tonight. Tachikawa joins Jamil's scheme of things at Durand Cup
After earning two wins in two matches in the ongoing Durand Cup, Jamshedpur FC have got a further boost in the form of Japanese midfielder Rei Tachikawa. He joined the squad at Flatlet in Jamshedpur on Sunday ahead of their last group encounter against debutants 1 Ladakh FC on Friday which will also be Khalid Jamil's first match at the helm since being declared India head coach. Tachikawa has been with the club since 2023 when he joined from Maltese side Sirens FC, where he made a name for himself. In the first season, he appeared in 22 matches across the Indian Super League and Super Cup, scoring five goals and creating 25 chances. In the last season, he once again impressed under Jamil playing a pivotal role in helping the team make the semifinals in the Indian Super League playoffs where they were edged out by eventual champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant. While Tachikawa will no doubt hope to make a promising start to the season for JFC, all eyes will be on coach Jamil.
