49ers starting offensive lineman predicts that he'll make the Pro Bowl in 2025
McKivitz, 28, was San Francisco's fifth-round pick (No. 153 overall) in the 2020 NFL draft after a five-year collegiate career at West Virginia, where he earned All-Big 12 and All-American honors as a senior.
After he spent most of his rookie season as a backup and most of the following year on the practice squad, McKivitz eventually took over as the team's starting right tackle in 2023 and has started all 34 games over the last two seasons.
As he prepares to enter his third season in the role, McKivitz believes he'll be recognized as one of the top players at his position in the NFL in 2025.
'I'm going to be a Pro Bowler this year, I've told countless people," McKivitz shared with NBC Sports' Matt Maiocco earlier this week. "I'm just putting it out there just because that's going to hold me accountable and get me to where I want to go. If you don't fight for it, you won't get it.'
The 49ers are no strangers to having one of their starting tackles make the Pro Bowl, as left tackle Trent Williams made it four straight seasons from 2020-23. However, McKivitz will really have to play great in 2025 to unseat Philadelphia's Lane Johnson, who's made the Pro Bowl each of the last three seasons and has made six in his career.
Interestingly, the San Francisco Chronicle's Noah Furtado reported that McKivitiz had the "most impressive offensive/defensive lineman one-on-one rep of the day" on Friday, as he completely shut down a pass rush from Nick Bosa. Maybe that'll be something for him to build on going forward and turn the 2025 season into a Pro Bowl campaign.

Titans coach Brian Callahan calls out his offense after sloppy practice
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans and rookie quarterback Cam Ward turned in a sluggish performance Sunday, earning a profanity-laced tirade from head coach Brian Callahan as the session concluded. The No. 1 overall pick followed two solid practices with a rough showing Sunday in team drills. Ward completed just 4 of 13 passes in team drills and was off the mark on several throws. The Titans also had penalties and a play that would have been a sack as the defense pressured the young quarterback. Ward's final rep of the day was a pass that sailed far over the head of receiver Van Jefferson and out of bounds. That's when Callahan unleashed on the offense. The second-year Titans coach spoke before practice. After practice, Callahan stood near midfield talking with Ward, offensive coordinator Nick Holz and quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree for about 20 minutes. Tennessee opens preseason play Saturday night at Tampa Bay with a joint practice on Thursday. Before practice, Callahan said some self-inflicted mistakes Saturday had him concerned because of the emphasis he has put on correcting those all offseason. 'The progress obviously isn't always going to be linear, we're going to have ups and downs,' Callahan said before practice. The Titans have NFL officials on hand to make clear when players commit penalties. Callahan said that's great to have that experience. The Titans called Callahan's outburst warranted because of a lack of focus and intensity on offense. 'He's not really an outburst-type of coach for the most part," left guard Peter Skoronski said. 'So I think so I think the practice kind of warranted it. It just felt kind of low and juice-less from an offensive end and lacking execution.' Skoronski said Sunday's session was disappointing and he could feel the frustration before Callahan went off. 'When he started yelling, I said, 'Oh there it is,'' Skoronski said. "We just didn't move the ball the way we needed to. I think it was warranted. We shouldn't need that to bring out the intensity. We shouldn't need the head coach to be like that. Chet Holmgren meets Oklahoma legend Adrian Peterson
Enjoying his downtime, Chet Holmgren went on another side quest that involved a cross-sport interaction every Oklahoma sports fan loved. The calendar has flipped to August, which means the NBA is in its driest part of the year. Everybody around the league is on vacation for the next couple of months before the 2025-26 season starts. Holmgren traveled to the 2025 Panini VIP Party over the weekend. Panini America hosted the event. The company is known for selling sports trading cards, memorabilia and autographed merchandise. It includes about every collegiate and pro sports league you can imagine. At the event, athletes from across the globe attended. Holmgren took to social media to post some of the photos he had taken of players he grew up watching. One included Oklahoma and NFL legend Adrian Peterson. The future Hall-of-Famer is one of the greatest running backs ever. Peterson attended Oklahoma for three college seasons from 2004-06. He then spent nearly a decade with the Minnesota Vikings, where he carved out one of the greatest careers. He was a perennial Pro Bowl player and won the 2012 MVP award. Considering Holmgren grew up in Minnesota, it was a moment where the 23-year-old was likely starstruck. Both also have obvious ties to Oklahoma. In the seven-footer's case, he helped the Thunder win their first NBA championship this past June. Always fun to see the type of adventures NBA players go through when they have free time. So much of their lives is fixated on basketball. For Holmgren, his free time includes linking up with several other all-time athletes from various sports at a trading card company event.
