Oasis surprise fans with dramatic set list change and new song

Daily Mirror11-07-2025
Noel and Liam Gallagher have shocked fans at Heaton Park by changing up the set list and adding a new song they didn't play in Cardiff.
Fans last week who saw the first Oasis shows in 16 years at the Principality stadium were treated to 23 songs including Supersonic and Little By Little.
And the band are well known for sticking to the same set a lot, sometimes without changing for a whole tour.
But back in Manchester they decided to give the fans something extra and played another song from their iconic back catalogue.
The changing set list gives fans hope that other songs may be added at other venues. Taylor Swift played different songs every night on her recent world tour.
A few simple words on social media on August 27 in 2024 were enough to spark pandemonium among Oasis fans and were the catalyst for the most eagerly awaited UK gigs of all time.
This special unofficial magazine, available to order here, marks the reunion and honours the band both now and down the years with our incredible archive of photos and interviews - and with exclusive reviews and photographs of their first show!
In Cardiff the majority of Oasis fans were happy with the choice of songs although there were some notable songs missing.
Amongst those missing which are popular amongst fans are Columbia, Lyla, Go Let It Out, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, The Importance Of Being Idle and the Beatles classic I Am The Walrus, which the band sometimes play as an encore.
Commenting on the Cardiff set list, Paul Johnson said on X: 'There's absolute bangers they left out.'
Mick Went 57 said: 'Good but no Columbia? Def in their top 5 imo.'
In the tour programme Noel reflected on playing with Oasis and his brother, saying: 'People will never forget the way you made them feel.'
He also mused about why so many people of all ages tried to get tickets for the Oasis Live 25 tour.
Noel said: 'A new generation recognises how Oasis wasn't manufactured. It was chaotic, and flawed, and not technically brilliant. We were rough and ready guys from a rehearsal room, and people recognised it.'
Their return to Manchester coincided with a heatwave and Oasis warned fans ahead of Friday's gig to wear sun screen and keep hydrated ahead of the show.
After Manchester Oasis go to London, Edinburgh, and Dublin as well as the US, South America and Australia. The Gallaghers shocked fans last weekend with a symbolic sign of unity by coming on stage holding hands.

Oasis superfan gets Murrayfield ticket tattoo ahead of Edinburgh dates

'Hey, if they break up before then, it'll be a hilarious story to tell." An Oasis superfan is feeling supersonic after tattooing her Murrayfield ticket on her arm ahead of the band's upcoming Edinburgh shows. ‌ Shannon Rattray, 29, was born at the height of Oasis mania in 1995 and has longed to see the Britpop legends her entire life. ‌ Her parents, Sharon, 51, and Donald, 59, also loved the band, but never got to experience the Gallagher brothers in concert because they were too busy bringing up Shannon and her siblings. ‌ When Oasis broke up in 2009, the family, from Midlothian, thought they'd would never get the chance to see them live. But when the group announced their reunion tour, Shannon managed to bag four tickets for August 12 in the capital. ‌ She will go to the gig with her mum and dad and boyfriend, Kai, also 29. The mum -of-two told the Record: 'I have waited for this moment for nearly 30 years so I wanted something to mark it that will last forever. I might be slightly mad for doing it, but this concert means the absolute world to me. "I was brought up listening to Oasis and my mum and dad never got round to seeing them because they were raising me and my siblings. ‌ "When we saw the announcement that they were coming back, I sat in the queue for hours for tickets. "When I got them, I was crying and jumping about with excitement. It was such a special moment being able to call my mum and tell her that her dream of seeing Oasis live was coming true! "I cried down the phone to her. ‌ 'As a family have spoken about how we've wanted Oasis to get back together so many times and I have spent countless occasions belting out their songs with my parents. 'The fact that we never thought this would happen again makes it even more special." ‌ Shannon decided to cement her special memory in ink on July 23. She continued: "It was by pure chance that the tattoo artist that I had contacted had space before the gig, so I thought know you what I am just going to go for it. "Some might say I am absolutely ridiculous for getting it done, especially given their track record of falling out, but hey, if they break up before the gig it will be a hilarious story to tell." Oasis at Wembley review: London finally sees Liam Gallagher at his best

London hasn't always brought out the best in Liam Gallagher. He sat it out at Royal Festival Hall as the band played on without him for their MTV Unplugged recording in 1996. At the old Wembley Stadium, months before it closed to be rebuilt, a drunken performance in the shadow of the ground's Twin Towers resulted in Liam vowing not to take to the stage while under the influence again; Noel later described the show — recorded for posterity as a sub-standard live album — as the band's lowest point. And the last time the Gallaghers played live together in London, for 2009's iTunes Festival at the Roundhouse, Liam rowed with the crowd in an unhappy showing; little more than a month later, the band were finished.
