Oasis surprise fans with dramatic set list change and new song

Daily Mirror11-07-2025
Noel and Liam Gallagher have shocked fans at Heaton Park by changing up the set list and adding a new song they didn't play in Cardiff.
Fans last week who saw the first Oasis shows in 16 years at the Principality stadium were treated to 23 songs including Supersonic and Little By Little.
And the band are well known for sticking to the same set a lot, sometimes without changing for a whole tour.
But back in Manchester they decided to give the fans something extra and played another song from their iconic back catalogue.
The changing set list gives fans hope that other songs may be added at other venues. Taylor Swift played different songs every night on her recent world tour.
A few simple words on social media on August 27 in 2024 were enough to spark pandemonium among Oasis fans and were the catalyst for the most eagerly awaited UK gigs of all time.
This special unofficial magazine, available to order here, marks the reunion and honours the band both now and down the years with our incredible archive of photos and interviews - and with exclusive reviews and photographs of their first show!
In Cardiff the majority of Oasis fans were happy with the choice of songs although there were some notable songs missing.
Amongst those missing which are popular amongst fans are Columbia, Lyla, Go Let It Out, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, The Importance Of Being Idle and the Beatles classic I Am The Walrus, which the band sometimes play as an encore.
Commenting on the Cardiff set list, Paul Johnson said on X: 'There's absolute bangers they left out.'
Mick Went 57 said: 'Good but no Columbia? Def in their top 5 imo.'
In the tour programme Noel reflected on playing with Oasis and his brother, saying: 'People will never forget the way you made them feel.'
He also mused about why so many people of all ages tried to get tickets for the Oasis Live 25 tour.
Noel said: 'A new generation recognises how Oasis wasn't manufactured. It was chaotic, and flawed, and not technically brilliant. We were rough and ready guys from a rehearsal room, and people recognised it.'
Their return to Manchester coincided with a heatwave and Oasis warned fans ahead of Friday's gig to wear sun screen and keep hydrated ahead of the show.
After Manchester Oasis go to London, Edinburgh, and Dublin as well as the US, South America and Australia. The Gallaghers shocked fans last weekend with a symbolic sign of unity by coming on stage holding hands.

Tell us: have you seen live music with your family recently?

Ahead of Oasis's reunion shows this year, you could certainly have expected to tick a lot of sights off your bingo card: bucket hats? Check. Wall-to-wall Adidas? Present and correct. Enough lager consumption to fill the Thames? Naturally. Perhaps less anticipated was the prevalence of families at these shows: multigenerational groups spanning from excited kids seeing their first big gigs to aunts, uncles and grandparents who could remember seeing the band back in the 90s. On the first night in Cardiff, one woman told us about attending a show in the city 31 years ago while she was pregnant with her son, now bringing along his own young daughter; another boy was celebrating his 10th birthday there with his dad, who saw the band with his own father when he was a teenager. There have been similar scenes at Pulp's big shows: when they performed to a hometown crowd at Sheffield's Tramlines last week, there was a noteworthy amount of kids word-perfect on their hits (including, entertainingly, Sorted for E's and Wizz). So, we'd like to know: have you been on any mass family outings to see live music recently? Who did you see and how did it go? What memories did the shows stir up? What was the significance of seeing them all together? And what did the kids think? You can share your experience of seeing live music with family using this form. Oasis reviews for first Wembley gigs say there were 'enough tears to end water shortage'

Oasis will be back in the capital over the next month. Oasis have almost finished their circuit around the UK, but this past weekend was particularly special. Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher buried the hatchet last month, and now they've started their seven-date stint at London's Wembley Stadium. With 90,000 people screaming "Don't Look Back In Anger" at Oasis, it seemed as if the feud was 100 years ago. And reviews from critics and fans alike have already deemed the band's show as some of the best live performances in years. Metro's Brooke Ivey Johnson said she was "in tears" after the performance. They wrote: "On Friday night, I brushed up against it and realised it's not that Oasis' deep entanglement with British culture holds them back from being one of the world's greatest rock bands – it's precisely what makes them so special." The Telegraph's James Hall agreed: "Here's a way to end the current water shortage. Attach a water butt to Wembley and catch 90,000 people's tears. When Noel sang Don't Look Back in Anger, and Liam, Wonderwall, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Extraordinary scenes." viagogo and resale tickets Sites such as viagogo, Stubhub, and Vivid Seats allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans. However, it is important to note that ticket conditions often prohibit resale after initial purchase. Those tickets may not be valid for admittance to gigs. Fans intending to buy tickets for live events through resale websites should check the ticket terms and conditions, to confirm whether resale is prohibited, before they buy. Ticket terms and conditions can be checked with the original seller, such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation. If resale is prohibited, tickets bought second-hand could be voided and admission to the event refused. Some fought cancer, won, and celebrated by seeing Liam and Noel perform live. Others brought their newly-born children, and lifelong friends. One was quoted as saying it was the "best night of their entire life". For fans who have not yet managed to buy tickets for the upcoming shows in London - and indeed the leftover gigs at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium - there is still hope. We've got all the information fans need on how to get involved now. Here's the details: How to buy Oasis tickets now Oasis tickets are available right now from a number of online retailers. This includes both official and resale websites. The online ticket sellers with the most ticket stocks available are the resale giants, including viagogo, StubHub and Vivid Seats. These give fans the chance to buy and sell tickets at their leisure, while grabbing their ideal spots at the Oasis tour dates. Here's the list of resale websites: STUBHUB - Buy Oasis tickets here. TWICKETS - Buy Oasis tickets here. Meanwhile, there are some official retailers offering Oasis tickets now, as well. However, it's not as simple as one might expect. Ticketmaster is only selling its own resale tickets. And these only pop up every now and then, with some of them being sold at face value. So, fans looking to get tickets as cheap as possible are encouraged to keep an eye on Ticketmaster's website. Otherwise, Seat Unique is fans' best option to buy Oasis tickets now. These premium, VIP and hospitality tickets not only gain access to the stadiums, but they do it with style. This includes included food, drink, early access, and more. Specsavers 'reignites Oasis feud' leaving Britpop fans in stitches

Oasis are in the middle of their Live '25 tour, but the Britpop band's feud with Blur has been reignited thanks to a cheeky Specsavers advert outside Wembley Stadium A cheeky billboard advert near Wembley Stadium has thrilled Oasis fans as the band continues their Live '25 tour. The ad, a stone's throw from where Liam and Noel Gallagher are performing in London, has appears to have reignited a nostalgic Britpop rivalry. ‌ Britpop, which encapsulates various British bands from the 90s, reached its peak Oasis ' infamous chart battle with another iconic band. Despite that band initially coming out on top, Oasis seems to have had the last laugh with their current sold-out concerts causing quite the sensation. The playful advert poking fun at the feud between the two groups has been shared on TikTok. ‌ ‌ The video's caption reads: "Not Specsavers putting up 'the OG Blur rivals' ad across from the Oasis gig tonight." The Specsavers advertisement is displayed on a screen directly opposite the venue for Oasis' London performances. Specsavers themselves have cheekily acknowledged their "the original Blur rivals" sign, with a comment on TikTok stating: "We saw an opportunity and we took it." The strategic placement has won over fans, who've been chuckling about it while heading home from the concert. ‌ One fan shared: "We were giggling about this on the way to the train." Another praised: "A+ marketing." A third added: "That's genius." However, the person who posted the original TikTok seemed less impressed, writing: "UK people are so weird." The infamous chart battle between Blur and Oasis remains a legendary tale, with the Damon Albarn-led Blur snatching the top spot in 1995 with their hit 'Country House', leaving the Gallagher brothers trailing. ‌ Blur's bassist Alex James later reflected on the rivalry, stating: "Blur won the battle, Oasis won the war, then Blur went on to win the whole campaign." In 2023, Blur returned to Wembley for two electrifying shows to celebrate their new album, 'The Ballad of Darren', not to be outdone by fellow Britpop giants Oasis who have also graced the iconic venue. Fellow icon of the era Jarvis Cocker of Pulp was seen at an Oasis gig at Wembley Stadium, while Blur's own Damon Albarn graciously acknowledged Oasis' supremacy in the bands' historic face-off. ‌ Albarn conceded: "I think we can officially say that Oasis won the battle, the war, the campaign, everything. They are the winners. They take first place. In the face of such overwhelming evidence, I am happy to accept and concede defeat." Cocker, who had previously joked about scoring a spot on the guestlist for Oasis concerts, has openly criticised the term "Britpop" during an NME interview. He shared: "It felt like a revolution could happen. If people are feeling like that again – that they can make their own thing and it can be taken notice of – then that would be great." He added: "If that kind of attitude is coming back, then I would be very excited about it, just not the 'BP' word – it's a terrible word."
