‘Kelly Clarkson Show' Future Confirmed Following Ex-Husband's Tragic Death
is mourning the loss of her ex-husband, , who tragically passed away at just 48 years old after a quiet, years-long battle with cancer.
His death has left the entertainment world grieving alongside the singer, while many fans wondered what it would mean for Kelly Clarkson's hit daytime talk show.
'Kelly Clarkson Show' Renewed For Season 7
According to TMZ, "The Kelly Clarkson Show" is officially locked in for a seventh season and will return with fresh episodes in September.
The renewal confirmation follows months of cancellations across Clarkson's schedule, moves that sparked concern and speculation among fans. While she didn't address the reasons at the time, it now appears those decisions were likely tied to Blackstock's private health battle.
Clarkson Reveals Ex-Husband's Private Cancer Battle
The heartbreaking news of Blackstock's passing came just one day after Clarkson revealed his illness publicly for the first time.
In an emotional Instagram post on August 6, the 'Stronger' singer announced she was canceling the rest of her Las Vegas Studio Sessions to be with the couple's two children, River Rose, 11, and Remington 'Remy' Alexander, 8.
'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,' Clarkson wrote to fans and followers.
One day later, it was revealed that her ex had passed.
"It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away," the statement read. "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."
Kelly Clarkson Is 'Heartbroken' For Her Kids After Brandon Blackstock's Death
A source told PEOPLE that while Clarkson is 'staying strong' for her children following the death of her ex-husband, she is 'absolutely heartbroken' for them.
'Kelly and Brandon had their ups and downs, but at the end of the day, he was the father of her children and she is absolutely heartbroken for them,' the insider said. 'Her kids are her entire world, and she's staying strong for their sake.'
Another source told PEOPLE that Clarkson has 'been devastated' for her kids throughout his illness.
'When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake,' the source explained, adding, 'Kelly has always tried to keep things classy. It became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well. She's been devastated for the kids.'
Inside Clarkson And Blackstock's Tumultuous Love Story
The pair first met in May 2006 while Clarkson was rehearsing for the Academy of Country Music Awards. At the time, Blackstock was still married to his first wife, Melissa Ashworth.
Fast forward and Blackstock and Ashworth's divorce was finalized in 2012, the same year fate brought him and Clarkson back together at the Super Bowl, where she performed the national anthem. One week later, they went on their first date, and by December, Blackstock had popped the question.
The couple tied the knot on October 20, 2013, at Blackberry Farms in Walland, Tennessee, and soon after welcomed two children, daughter River in 2014 and son Remington in 2016. Blackstock also became Clarkson's talent manager, encouraging her to launch "The Kelly Clarkson Show" in 2019 and overseeing part of her stint on "The Voice" from 2018 to 2023.
Kelly Clarkson's Split From Brandon Blackstock Erupted Into Legal Battles
But behind the scenes, cracks were forming.
Clarkson ultimately filed for divorce in June 2020, just months after the family quarantined in Montana during the COVID-19 pandemic, citing 'irreconcilable differences," and their split was finalized in 2022. She was awarded primary physical custody of the kids but ordered to pay her ex $45,000 a month in child support.
In 2023, Clarkson accused Blackstock of overcharging her as a manager and won a ruling ordering him to pay back $2.6 million.
The following year, she alleged he told her she wasn't 'sexy' enough to be a judge on "The Voice," citing the claim in court filings connected to the lawsuit.

He called three years of marriage with Nicola "a never-ending play date" and opened up about their low-key dynamic. "We don't like to go out for dinner, really. We don't like to party or anything like that. When we are together, which is a lot of the time, we just hang out with our four dogs, and drink wine at home," he said. David, Victoria Beckham took a European family vacation Though Brooklyn's parents, David and Victoria Beckham, attended his 2022 wedding, they didn't appear in the photos shared by the couple. USA TODAY has reached out to the Beckhams for comment. In the days before the vow renewal ceremony, the Beckhams shared European vacation photos showing the family – including David, Victoria, Cruz, Harper and Romeo – enjoying time together on a yacht and at a French truffle restaurant. How did Nicola and Brooklyn Peltz Beckham meet? Speaking for Glamour's June cover story, the couple opened up about their memorable first impressions when they met while dating other people. "The first time I saw Nicola at Coachella [in 2017], I was instantly drawn to her. She was gorgeous, obviously, but it was her warmth and energy that stuck with me. Even though it was a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, I never forgot it," Brooklyn said. Nicola told the magazine: "It was brief, but I felt something. I had a boyfriend, he had a girlfriend – but there was this instant charm. He took a few photos of me, and somehow that moment stayed with me for years." The two revealed their engagement in 2020. They also explained the decision to change both of their names, with Nicola saying, "For me, it really mattered. Especially as a woman. If you don't want to give up your name, combining them is a good solution." As for public scrutiny, which both had experienced growing up in notable families, Brooklyn said, "Ignore the noise. Keep your head down, work hard, be kind. People are always going to talk. What matters is that we're happy together."

Peter Goodwin of Virginia cheats on wife with former nanny: court papers
They're headed for a 50/50 split. The married son of a powerful Virginia bowling billionaire had a seamy affair with his kids' ex-nanny — and callously informed his wife he wanted a divorce as she held their baby Christmas Day, bombshell court papers claim. The sordid marital strife now rocking one of the Old Dominion State's most prominent families pits Rolex- and race car-loving scion Peter Goodwin, 40, against wife Cara Goodwin, a 40-year-old popular clinical psychologist. Instagram/Annette Lombard Peter — whose uber-successful dad William Goodwin is a former co-owner of the AMF Bowling chain, among a slew of other mega business ventures — kicked off the pair's divorce battle when he delivered his ill-timed big reveal to Cara over the 2023 holiday at their Virginia estate, according to documents obtained by The Post. Advertisement Lombard, now 27, began working for the couple around age 21, starting in 2019 while she was an undergrad at the University of Virginia, court papers say. Beginning in the spring of 2020, Lombard lived with Peter and Cara and the kids for about a year as she cared for the children during the pandemic, according to the documents. She became so close to the kids that they referred to her as their sister, the filing says. That same year, Peter hired Lombard to also work for him at his office — and eventually promoted her to a vice president of his company. It has dozens of posts of sports cars, race cars and luxury watches, and he has nearly 17,000 followers.
